While the auction staff does a pretty good job of keeping me in line I don’t really consider them spotters in the same way. They have to be wearing some pretty bright shirts though. From the stage all I can see is a huge mass of humanity. You can stand up and wave but and its still hard to make out individuals, especially in the back. The background is usually a whole bunch of people standing up around the perimeter which still makes it hard to see, that and black being the most prevalent color in the room. Except for the one guy wearing green, with a green hat that was standing directly in front of the green Dreadmere poster. He was really hard to see. We will play with the auction some more and see what we can do. I don’t think that I can push the time any later because of the necessity of tearing things down. On another note, the official opening time for the vendor hall was 9:00 am, the vendors didn’t not just decide that. My wife and I ate breakfast in the vendor hall every morning at 8 to keep an eye on things. On manufacturer awards, I have some stray thoughts on what can be done differently. The dynamics of the painting competitions has changed and some companies want to have a larger presence at the show. I’ll, very likely, be keeping that number about where it is though. There may be a separation between companies that have large line ups and want to go in big, making Reaper Con their primary awards show and those that are smaller. Lots to talk about with the manufacturers and I will be involving them in the discussion. With Adepticon becoming a Golden Demon competition and I expect Crystal Brush to end up at the CMoN Expo (assuming it comes back at all) they have become very narrow in their focus. ... neon bidding paddles it is. This year I put it off until I got to the convention, but I've saved myself some stress by doing it before I leave home in the past. On one I put my name and email, because they need that to enter us in the system. On all the others I put: 1. Title of Entry 2. Manufaturer (ex reaper, darksword, etc) 3. Category (ex open, painters...) 4. Special award status (ex mousling, pink, chibi, etc) I hand them to the Awesome Debbie. She usually smiles at me. This saves time and ensures my entries are spelled right (when I come up with funny titles...) Well, there you go!

And I’ll ping @Heisler too: Michaels or Hobby Lobby (can’t recall) have fluorescent yellow shirts for like $3. Easy to use those, grabbing the largest size for the volunteers.

I saw some other food being delivered during the con too. I just went over to IHOP and Cheddars across the parking lot. I know our table had pizza delivered--easy-peasy. Even my cast iron stomach couldn't withstand yet another shot of InAndOut and it was nice to hearken back a little to the catered dinner of the past sitting around the table. I also have to applaud the increase in food choices around the hotel. Hooligan's quality seems to be worse this time around; maybe it was just our menu choices... If Reaper already has an account with Zazzle or Tee-Springs or who-have-you, they can probably get whatever shade of neon they want, possibly with VOLUNTEER printed on it in huge letters. ^^; (if I ever get involved with running a convention, the volunteers will be provided with brightly coloured neon shirts that say something like that on them. Probably across the back. Mostly so they're nice and visible. Staff probably aren't getting out of it their own versions. I like knowing who to go to when needed. >.> )
Crowley
I have to admit, I was more impressed with Cheddars and IHOP than I was with Hoolihans. It wasn't bad, but it was overpriced for what I got.

Loim
I can't remember if I said this earlier here or in another post. Thanks for everyone who took the time out to hang out and chat with me a bit. I'm usually a bit all over the place at Cons. A bit overload most of the time, but I do my best to stay focused in the moment and remember people's names (I'm sooo bad at names, but I always remember faces). I know I said this a few times over the course of the weekend, but I'm really glad that RCon was my first convention, or otherwise I don't think I'd ever have stuck with it. I know a lot of you lot are also introverts, so you get me. Great crowd though, and if I make it next year I'll do my best to track down more of you :). Cheers.

Overload on protein at breakfast (eggs, sausage, bacon), then pig out on the snacks during happy hour. Hoolihans with the gang on the last day. Also included was pizza and cake during the meet'n'greet, the free food at the airport lounges due to flight rewards, and everyone bringing and sharing extra food and drinks. Combined with lots of sedentary activities and travel, I actually gained weight during RCon (mostly water retention as I could see my ankles swelling up). I'm back to eating salads, veggies, and minimizing carbs. And of course that pesky exercise that I hate (though I appreciate the results).

I'd have put skull totems around it as wards if I'd had the time. And also skulls. I have completed my 3-year tour of American food places. A few rank low enough to be "better than starving". IHOP makes starving an attractive option. 1 4
