The SF Bay Area/NorCal conventions all still run Fri-Mon, as far as I'm aware.

That was one of the biggest shocks for me when I moved back to Denver from NorCal.   I can understand that Monday was a ghost town when it was tried in Denver, but that may be related more to just years of not doing it that way, and a population of attendees that was used to it.  Had the Denver cons forged ahead with Mondays for 3-4 years, people would have adjusted (assuming the con could afford to forge ahead a few years)

As a convention with a national draw and one who's dates have bounced around until recently, ReaperCon may not have the same issue.

I think it may be a west coast thing. Origins, Gencon and Dragon Con are all Thursday to Sunday although only Dragon Con is on a Holiday.

There are also special categories (big monster, etc)

Let's bear in mind also that 1000 entries for 1500 attendees is still well below the threshold of one figure per person anyway.

Also, before people get too caught up in projective math let's keep in mind that there were at least three unusual events bulking the numbers some this year over prior years:  the Wiebe Pug, Paint it Pink, and Ed skeletons.

The awards ceremony and the availability of judges are one thing, but shortening the lines seems like a problem of eliminating the bottleneck at registration, rather than policing the number of entries.

I do not know how Reaper's system for managing entries works, but it seems like it should be possible to expand the number of people doing the data entry so more than more entrants can be registered at a time. It should also be possible to have 2-3 photo booths in action with a little recruiting and creative work.

Starting to get back into thinking about my job (IT automation) rather than painting... A website/app where the entrant can 'pre-register' their pieces might help a lot. I'm thinking the entrant can go to the site/app, type in name of piece, mfg, category etc... and get back a confirmation code. Pre-registrants would than have a separate line and the only thing the registration desk would need to do is verify and print their entry 'tickets' from their confirmation code. Then send them to the photo booth. There would still be a standard registration line for when the app doesn't work or those without access or unwilling.

A second photo booth might help. Volunteers trained to move pieces to the tables might help (but be controversial I expect).

Tables, perhaps with 'lunch trays,' to unbox entries while in line may help (kind of like airport security lines).

It's possible to run multiple check in and photo booths, assuming we can get that many people willing to devote their weekend to it and enough supplies/space.  Definitely something we (the current volunteers) want to explore for next year. :)

No one has said which faction won the weekend.  Was the Big M successful?

It was the Duskwardens that won the day. It broke down like this:

- Duskwardens - 11,700

- River Widows - 10,080? (I'm not sure I wrote this number correctly)

- Bonehenge - 9,400

- Murkillor - 6,400

- Lights Hand - 5,550

- Maggotcrown - 5,530

- Blood Wolves - 5,430

- C'Thon - 4,220

There was a poster for Murkillor to put vote stickers on?  Missed that completely.

I'm not sure if there was, but perhaps he won points in the Dreadmere games for accomplishing things. I know that he ultimately failed in his goal for the RPG as well. I never saw a board for him either, so I figured it might have to do with something in-game.

Not a poster, but for the Battle for Dreadmere tabletop game, every figure that was left on the board when time ran out, as well as moddles that escaped, were worth points for Murkillor.  There may have been other things that awarded him/her/it points as well.

Ah, thanks.  I wasn't paying that much attention to the Battle for Dreadmere game since I wasn't playing.  If there would have been a poster, I could have been compelled to vote for the underdog.
