I found it minus a head on the melt table a couple Reapercons ago. The body is by Urban Mammoth/Urban War and is still available from Scotia Grendel. The head is from Shieldwolf Miniatures Sheildmaidens set. The jet/jump pack on her is back is various techy looking pieces from my bits box. 7 hours ago, Inarah said: Question for Sept 17, brought to you by @Crowley: What back to school shopping did you enjoy as a kid? Now, my kids are grown, so I don't worry about back to school stuff.

Photos of examples are welcome. I have three basic styles of basing- throw as much cork at the base as possible, cheat with those little rolling pins from Greenstuff World and use that crackle stuff from Games Workshop. Spoilered due amount of images Examples of "Cork? We need more cork?!?!" Cheating with Greenstuff World rollers and Sculpey More GSW rollers and crackle earth from Games Workshop

I used to love the Bic 4-color pens; my early dungeons were always done in blue ink with black crosshatch in stone sections and red numbers. Green? Slime... These days my writing implement of choice is a Uni Jetstream 4-color pen PLUS 0.5mm mechanical pencil. 7

Just last year I threw out the last shirt my mom bought me for starting college. Now: Clearance game supplies! Pens, pencils, notebooks, storage, etc. Most of it gets picked up when back to school stuff gets cheap. Speaking of back to school shopping, I just found a nice canvas clothes hamper that I needed badly, and a 10 piece Pilot pen set that I really don't need but let myself have anyway.

With the exeception of the lava/ice bases, all of those are testament to the powers of multiple washing and drybrush layers. Those rollers are hella expensive, but they really take the hard work out of basing. The most complicated part is cutting the circles of Sculpey out, but the same site sells little round cookie cutters that fit all the common wargaming base sizes. Oh yeah, you've got to bake them too. My housemate was a little shocked by that

Pretty much, but I tend to put them on little MDF bases so that they keep their shape whilst I'm transferring them onto the baking tray. If you have to start squishing them down onto the tray it can obliterate some of the detail. They don't stick well to the MDF at all, so it's fairly simple to slide them off when they've cooled down and stick them onto normal plastic bases. 7

You can also use an epoxy putty like MagicSculp or Apoxie Sculpt, which are stickier (though water will generally keep them from sticking to the stamp) but don't need to be baked, so you can start with them on the final base. NB: I use Happy Seppuku (RIP) stamps rather than GSW* rollers. * Not my fault that gunshot wound and Green Stuff World use the same abbreviation. 7
Loim
One trick for keeping your GSW Roller bases the right size is to get some large washers that have a ID of 1". My favorite part of back to school shopping was and is pens and pencils. I may not be, but probably totally am, addicted to pens and pencils. I have hordes of them. No seriously. Buying a new fountain pen is cause for much celebration. And I have 20 mechanical pencils. 7

On Basing: This doesn't really add any techniques to things I already mentioned, but there was the one time I did my best to eliminate the distinction between base and miniature entirely:
