Original_Carl
I've primed him black, drybrushed white and done some highlighting. I think, after working with the Hobgoblins, I'm going to add more white highlighting before I begin to apply color. Here's the first layer of color. Desert Sand 09432 for the fur, Nightsky Indigo 09422 for the robe, and Polished Leather 09430 for the leather details. Original_Carl
Stage 3. I've finished his fur for the time-being and added another layer of color to the robe. Next I'll work on face details: teeth, and reflection spots on the nose and eyes.
Original_Carl
My miniature photography needs work! That is hard! Final layer on the robe, face is detailed, bone staff is detailed. I noticed when taking this picture that I'd missed a couple of spots so I went back and touched them up. Overall, this was a good learning experience for me. I was going after an African Hyena look for the gnoll and I think I got that. There are a lot of nooks, crannies and mold lines on this guy and getting a clean look on the model was not easy. Finally, he looks way better on the table than in these photos. As do they all, I'm sure. :) Thanks in advance for your thoughtful advise and critique.
Glitterwolf
Awesome! A little trick to make spots/tattoos etc appear as if they're under the skin, is to glaze over it all with a midtone of the skin/fur. That way they will look smoother. Good job! 2
The Inner Geek
I love gnolls! As soon as you put the spots on and the dark around the muzzle this mini went straight to awesome.

I’ve another half dozen gnolls to paint. I’ll give that a shot.
