Airbrush Tutorials?

So I have finally taken the plunge and gotten an airbrush. I've been perusing the Airbrush Compendium, but was curious if anyone had any recommended sites for tips and tutorials since most of the Compendium is a bit old. Primarily going to be priming initially (got some Stynyl Rez primer) but just looking for other basic tips, including even what y'all mix your paints in before transferring to the gravity fed airbrush since the well there doesn't really work well for mixing.

As always, thanks in advance!

This isn't specifically a tutorial, but this video is loaded with fantastic examples on how to use an airbrush. It actually has quite a bit of info about using an airbrush that I haven't seen in actual tutorials. Vince shows how much he thins paints for certain uses. The most useful part was seeing how he cleans the brush between colors. That alone helped me better use my brushes. I don't use the paint brand he is demonstrating, but his demonstration has been helpful with all my paints.

And I've already learned something. I just assumed you couldn't mix in the airbrush cup. :poke:

So right. Makes mixing way less of a hassle, although it's a little trickier in the Sotar compared to airbrushes with larger cups.

I'm also a huge fan of the dump-cup cleaning method he uses around the 4 minute mark. I use a Reapercon cup and dump out the excess paint, then rinse (using a wash bottle with water), backfill, and repeat a few times. Does wonders for keeping the chunks out of the nozzle. I sometimes use an interdental pick when I add airbrush cleaner or alcohol for the final cleaning rounds.

On that note, I highly recommend getting an 8oz or 16oz wash bottle (I like the 8oz for my tight painting space). Makes rinsing out the airbrush dramatically easier. It's also great for topping off the wet palette when brush painting. So handy. Also recommend a spray bottle of 91% ISO alcohol. Spraying is less messy than pouring it in from the normal ISO bottle. I got all this stuff from Amazon.
