I need to hone my P2e GM skills so I'd like to offer up a pbp for The Fall of Plaguestone!

Looking for 4 players for a daily/weekly, depending on the game flow. Just post to this thread if your interested!

Character creation is the following:

Standard creation from the 2e Core Hardback. 1st level (Obviously this means, you need to own the hardback or pdf, thou there is the site Archives of Nethys srd site (just make sure the 2e wording is the BOLD selected) thou I haven't really looked into that site, so I'm not totally sure full character creation is up on there).

While this is not the Adventure Path, the adventure does have backgrounds that tie in the characters with the adventure. If you'd like one of these background please post & I'll get a PM to you. Also if we get going & the Lost Omens Character Guide comes out, I will allow the 3 new races that are featured in that book (Hobgoblin, Leshy & Lizardfolk), you can just swap out your existing character without any penalties.

Haldir,

The A o N 2e is actually a very solid resource for 2E (as it's the official SRD site), and even has some of of the Post Core things, but doesn't have new ancestries yet.

This particular link: Fall of Plaguestone Adventure Backgrounds! May be of use to you and yours.

Another thing that I've tripped over, and find SUPER useful, is This android app.

As for interest ... I've found PbP to be either way to fast ... or equally slow, or both ... but If you need, I could possibly have my arm twisted... (But if you have 4 other gungho players, I'd let them have the slots.)

About me: I'm mostly the one on the other side of the screen, and am comfortable tackling any group role.  I'm currently running one 2E homebrew game, in which, I was cruel and unusual, and started the group at level 10, a year ago.  Life happened, and now the group has lost a few, but is running more regularly, and hit 11 after Launch Day.

I knew it was the official source, I just haven't dealt with it allot. My original go to online source was Paizo's srd site before they merged it with AoN.

Thanks for the link on the backgrounds. I didn't want to step on toes with this pbp, thus if there was any special background stuff, I was going to PM, but if it out there already posted, even better.

I'm a old pro when it comes to pbp so I know how pbps go on here. There are high times in posting & there are dead periods (which unfortunately allot of times lead to a RIP pbp).

I'm not very well versed - rather properly unversed, really - in PF2e, but at 1st level, presumably that wouldn't matter that much. So definitely interested. I'm kind of tempted to play some kind of grumpy elf that's definitely not gaily prancing about sun-kissed forest glades, but that's not set in stone, because that would be such a dwarf thing to do.

So, while I have absolutely no idea how viable that will actually be in PF2e, I'm very much tempted by doing a grumpy bard, focused on knowledge rather than entertainment, well versed in arcane, occult and other lore, and trained to enchant elven maidens of high birth with masterful oratory, relating legendary tales older than the proudest human kingdom, not to entertain the unwashed, short-lived rabble in some decrepit excuse for a tavern with lowbrow humor distilled into dirty ditties.

I have 5 characters built thus far.  The app posted above helps greatly.  I also watched an Intro to PF video on Yoitube by the Takimg20 channel.  Went over the basics pretty well.  Didnt get into the nitty gritty, but was still a good overview.

Sometimes I think character building is my favorite part of the game...

I actually need to print out some character sheets & make a character old-fashion style. The only characters I've made have been using Herolabs & recently the app above (& even it's only been goblins....). I know for sure it has hurt me for 5e when someone comes into the store & wants to make a character. 5 minutes later on dndbeyond I have one made up, not so fast when it comes to a paper one.

So, from what I read so far, I really like Pathfinder 2e. The skill system looks like the best in the history of D&D derivatives, except maybe the part where some skills and skill feats are strongly and a bit obtusely entangled with a class For example, I'm trying to figure out whether there's any real point to taking alchemical crafting on a non-alchemist (no idea, tbh) or whether a non-rogue can be a sufficiently good trap disarmer (looks like yes at 1st level, no in the long run).

For the grumpy elf bard idea, the main question I've run into is whether anything but an actual physical instrument (e.g. acting or oratory) counts as an "instrument" for bardic spellcasting, because that'd fit so well; RAW, I don't think so (I think the idea is very specifically the instrument means one hand is full, which makes sense, because otherwise you'll sooner or later have oratory instrument bards with gatling crossbows).

If one more person wanders in, I'll step up.  If two or three more arrive, I'll bow out.
I .... may ... or may not! (ok, did) have created 8 level one PC's that I would be willing to play, and built a framework for skills/feats through level 4 (because that's what Plaguestone appears have been designed with in mind).

These include a Goblin Wizard (Burn it!), an Elf Barbarian, a Fighter and a Champion with the Hellknight Armiger Dedications (at 2), a couple old friends converted over, and some things I don't normally play.  (Ok, that's a lie, I have played everything, and my players have murdered almost everything in sight).

Crafting.  My (limited) experience and the remarks of the craft happy player in my one PF2 game, is only useful in the following two cases:  You are FAR away from civilization where you can buy something specific, or you have regularly scheduled months of downtime.

Bard & Instruments:  " Because you’re a bard, you can usually play an instrument for spells requiring somatic or material components, as long as it takes at least one of your hands to do so. If you use an instrument, you don’t need a spell component pouch or another hand free. You can usually also play an instrument for spells requiring verbal components, instead of speaking "

So, Instruments are an option, not a requirement.

The thing is, given the instrument by RAW replaces material components, it pretty much is required in a key benefit/feature of bardic spellcasting kind of way. So no acrobat, dancer, mime, thespian, or horror clown bards under these rules. Unless the horror clown uses a kazoo, I guess.

Whatever. A fancy silver hand harp fits the grumpy elf and and apparently, as long as it doesn't sound extra fancy, is a mere 8sp just like that kazoo!

@Arkady, I think the important difference between my reading of it, and yours, are the following words:  Can and If.

If you Aren't using an instrument, you DO need VSM, AND a spell component pouch, AND a free hand.

I mean, it's new, and I could be wrong, but that's my interpretation.  YMMV, and in this case, @haldir's opinion is the one that matters.

@Roonfizzle, I agree with your interpretation. I just think it's a bad rule, because it blocks non-musician bards people might envision from being effective on a rather fundamental level, which seems to be a stark contradiction to what PF2 was supposedly meant to achieve.
