While walking down the street last week, Charlie saw a guy standing on the corner holding a sign and thought he was a bit nuts. This week, Charlie steps over the same sign while shambling down the street. Charlie is in no state to see the irony in this, which is a shame as old Charlie would have found it very amusing. He's also in no state to remember eating most of the guy who was holding the sign.
(The second pic with the sign is in the spoiler, as it contains a word that sounds a lot like "clucking")
Hi everyone, I painted this 80072, Antarctic Explorer to complement the little scene that I did for LadyStorm's winter contest.
This model was sculpted by James Van Schaik. I painted it with Reaper's MSP paint and the synthetic snow is Army Painter Battlefields BF4103 snow.
Any similarity with an old bearded man from the northern hemisphere is pure coincidence.
Hi there! You might remember me from such threads as "Bones! Do they blend?" and "How to use Tamiya Clear Paints to varnish your translucent patio furniture!". I don't paint much over the Southern Hemisphere Winter, as I'm too busy snowboarding, but now that the sun is out again it's time to start working through my Immortality Shelf and get some paint on some figures.
Today we're looking at the Blackstar Corsairs: 80080: Blackstar Corsair Echo, 80079: Blackstar Corsair Delta, 80078: Blackstar Corsair Charlie, 80077: Blackstar Corsair Bravo, and 80076: Blackstar Corsair Alpha.
In general these have all been painted up as a unit, using a speed paint method. The undercoat is MSP 09066 Blue Liner. The main base color is MSP 09288 LED Blue, shaded down with a succession of glazes of MSP 09280 Nightmare Blue. I love the shading this gives, it's a very striking effect. The visors I've done using a base coat of MSP HD 29806 Fireball Orage, working up to MSP 09051 New Gold, and then layering over Tamiya X-24 Clear Yellow. This gives a great depth of color to the visor, and is supposed to look like the gold leaf covering a traditional spacesuit visor. The back power packs are basically a MSP 0939 Pure White base, worked up to Fireball Orange on the central core & MSP 09094 Clear Red on the retaining arms. Details have been picked out with Vallejo Model Air 71.064 Chrome. The weapons are Blue Liner, dry brushed with VMA 71.073 Black Metal then knocked back with a wash of Nightmare Blue to tie them back to the rest of the figure even if only slightly.

Some of you have probably seen my Tycho AFV for my Nova Corp figures, and the Rottweiler Grav Tank I'm working on for my IMEF figures. They've been quite fun to create. And now I've been going through my collection of other Reaper Chronoscope figures, and I've realized I've got a few other groups of figures that I could make similar sized units from. If I do that, it would be only fair if I gave them each a vehicle.
Since it will be a little bit before I actually get around to any of these, I thought I would ask you all what sort of look you would envision for vehicles for these various factions:
Cyber-Reavers - Given the Terminator vibe of these minis, I'm thinking something along the lines of the Hunter Killer flying craft from the movies.
Kulathi - ???
Bathalians - ???
Blackstar Corsairs - ???. I'm thinking maybe some sort of drop pod or drop ship for them? Or maybe just a bigger walker?
The Gray Aliens already have a flying saucer, so they're good.
That's what I have in my collection already (mostly thanks to 3 Bones Kickstarters). But I went ahead and browsed through the Chronoscope line in the store, and while I don't really see any other groups of minis that are big enough to make complete units, there are a few that were inspiring, should additional minis for them come along:
Illyrians (2 minis) - ???
Blood Nebula Mercenary (1 mini) - ???
Alien Overlords (3 minis) - ???
Sligg (3 minis) - ???
There are also enough sci-fi hero types, such as Kirby McDowell Space Privateer and Bonnie Futuristic Heroine, to assemble mercenary like unit. They'll need a vehicle too.
So let's see your thoughts and ideas.
