Inktober 27, Cracked.

Doing Inktober has had the side effect of me wanting to pick up some good watercolor pans, and more markers.

Oops.

I thought that one with the mountains was kinda nifty and you oughta think about doing an enhanced/improved version of it. That’s how you get better.

Day 24 of Inktober with Dory Whynot prompt “Nails” and I’m caught up again!

Edit: This is a tiny pic, three inches by four (plus paper borders). Chances are good it’s way bigger on the monitor than in real life.

All of my drawings have been toward the tiny side (but maybe a little larger than 3x4) here is a view of the Shrooms with some pens and a 25.4mm grid for scale:

They’ve all been in one sketchbook that is  5x8 or so. (5.5 x 8.7?) it maybe some even dimensions in metric units.

I am so far behind. Trying to sort through the options:

79421173-8A3D-4381-879C-9DFFACCDE7A8.thumb.jpeg.81a7dfeb6bafa53380a33f030448f332.jpeg

I did have an idea for “Pumpkin Glutton” a few days ago. I made a start on it. But didn’t finish yet. So I guess I am going to assign it to the 24th.

For the 25th, I decided to be heavily inspired by @Colonel Kane and his site up in the mountains drawing. Which contrary to his contentions, was not a bad drawing at all. I hope he won’t mind if I pretend we were collaborating on a comic, he was the pencils layout guy, I was the ink guy, but an art director decided: “...make it smaller, lose the guy with the dagger, and set it all up inside a circle...”

For Day 26 ...wow, I dunno. What's an Ibis?  A big Egret? will have to look that up.

Day 27 ...I already did Eclipse? There is a guy on Instagram that just draws a daily sky ship no matter what the Inktober prompt words are. I already put a whale in an earlier drawing as well.

From the Drawlloween* Inktober List—

Day 24 :: Pumpkin Glutton

From Whynoctober and Weirdtober

For Day 25 :: Witch King / Ritual Circle

4FD46AFC-D48E-4C56-9F43-787B269DFC1F.thumb.jpeg.7064d715c430b12b4adddf12de599472.jpeg

The Valley of the Twelve Peaks first explored and revealed by @Colonel Kane on the previous page.

On a flat topped hill (where it is said dark rituals were once performed) there is a circle of stones. The largest of these is called The Witch King, for legend has it that a white wizard cast a curse that turned the Witch King and his caperiing minions into the stones of the circle.

(Drawing is 4 and 3/4ths inches in diameter...fine and ultra-fine black Sharpie® Pens.)

Slowly getting caught up...

Inktober Day 26 :: Thorns / Ibis

Whynoctober and Undyingtales lists. This one is 4 and 1/8th of an inch diameter. I am starting to really like encompassing each drawing in a circle. Makes for a better fit on Instagram also. As usual, Sharpie® pens on sketchbook paper.

The Ibis is the sacred bird of Thoth (ancient Ægypt) one of two gods with avian heads from that mythology.  The other was Falcon headed Horus.

Inspired by the weekend question, I took some pictures of the army thus far and found that posting it in the question thread would be excessive, also that I didn't have an ongoing thread for my largest painted army so here it is. The plan is to get my Shelf of Incompleteion cleared off then work on reinforcements for this alongside my Old School Undead army.

Here we have the Pumpkin construct unit led by a Storybook Witch from Old Glory. I have 3 more of her, but the bag only came with the one flight stand and the Reaper ones I have don't fit, when I get around that, they'll form their own unit. Behind her is Rotpatch, and the scarecrow is hanging out with these guys until I can get a couple more. The constructs are filling the slot of core infantry.

Here is a Ral Partha Witch leading the Pumpkin Knight heavy infantry consisting of the Halloween Knight and converted Barrow Wardens.

Willow Greenivy leading the skeletal Pumpkin Guard. 10 newer GW skeletions and a variety of Reaper Bones.

Elise with the Pumpkin Chucker and some Bones skeletal archers providing ranged support.

A female Necromancer and the Etherial Legion of ghosts and wraiths.

An Iconic Witch, Pumpkin Spider, and friends.

A converted Brettonian Sorceress with the skeletal heavy infantry. Basically, what happens when adventurers irritate the witches.

      Bats, wolves, and allied vampires.

      Another vampire and werewolf allies.

Zombies, ghouls, and another Reaper Witch.

Beastmen and hell hounds with an infernalist witch.

I finally finished this project! This was a mini I got a forgotten number of years ago with an order during October. Being as this is a more modern vibe the first thing that came to my mind first is: Make her a neon Witch! This was such a joy to paint. It was my first real attempt at osl and sheer fabric. I used quite a few reaper paints but I will give you the main ones that pulled of the effects that I wanted. If you have other question feel free to ask and I will share with you what I used/did.
      Dominant paints used:
      Punk rock pink 09286
      Marid blue 89526
      Clear magenta 09098
      Regal purple 09238
      Clear purple 09099
      Nightmare black 09280
      Fair skin 09047
      Dark elf skin 09164
      Pure black 09037
      Pure white 09039
Let me know what you think!

      AUGH! The Great Pumpkin Came!

This was my entry in a painting league at another  miniatures forum.

In reference to the longstanding Peanuts theme of Linus sitting alone in the Pumpkin Patch waiting for the Great Pumpkin to come bringing gifts, Santa Claus-style.

It's a pity for him that Halloween is all about the scary...and the Great Pumpkin probably is not a very nice being.

The miniatures are all by Reaper, the fences are from Mantic's Kings of War Vanguard terrain. I found the simplicity of the fences really helped to sell the story here. As one of the commenters in the LPL-post stated: "Less is more".

Lots more pics, but yah gotsa clicks!
