Sitting on it is only marginally better than getting it stuck in car doors :zombie:

Years ago (when I had long hair and a car with manual windows) a thunder shower started and I realized my window was down.  I ran out to roll up the window while standing with the door open, failed to noticed I'd caught my hair in the window, and then shut the door on that.....

So, just so I can publically lament the baldness of my head some more, let me tell a "hair getting stuck" story from the days when I wasn't so folliclely challenged. Growing up my mom made it clear to me that I would go bald and that if I wanted to enjoy it, I'd better do it when I was young. As such I had all manner of weird haircuts. Big old green mohawks, blue liberty spikes, hair down to my knees, and once I even had a perm (but never dreads, ick). During one period when I had long hair I worked in a sandpaper factory running a WWII era roll slitter. It was a pretty rough job. Normally I'd tie up my hair and tuck it under a work shirt to keep it away from the fast moving rolls of sandpaper. One day I came in a few minutes late at shift change and told the guy I was relieving to go on home and I'd finish the run of the machine he started. I hadn't yet got my hair cinched up yet and as I leaned over to check the width of the rolls coming off the machine a handful of hair got caught in a roll. It ripped out so fast that at first I didn't even feel it. Just a quick tugging sensation. I straightened up to see what it was and the guy at the next station just silently pointed at my head. I reached up and my fingers came away drenched in blood. And then the pain of having that hair ripped out kicked in. It hurt. Bad. Thankfully though the hair was all that came out. Although with all the blood coming out of my pores you wouldn't know it.The machine was running at full speed and we figured that if there hadn't been so much force so fast the hair might not have been ripped out and instead my head might have been pulled into a spinning roll of 36 grit sandpaper. For a long time after no hair would grow in that spot. Actually, I really started going bald shortly after that so hair may have never grown back in that spot. That event made me decide to start keeping it short (at least when I can be reminded to get it cut). Anyhow, now you've gotten to know a little something more about me. Be safe you glorious longhairs and watch out around machinery!

October 16: What hobby related thing(s) are you working on (pics please)?

Amusingly, I just posted that all in another thread -

Alrighty! Tons of pictures, incoming! :D

These are my October contributions.

There are 13 attachments which I've spoilered by "type."

Many times, my daily sketches unintentionally become personal entries where I draw or write something that made me smile that day. The first week or so of October was like this; I wasn't expecting to post anywhere. I was also on vacation with my love and his family, so there was plenty of natural inspiration everywhere. ^_^

I have many plants scattered throughout the apartment and outside our door.

We have a nursery nearby that I love to visit and draw at.

Tipsy World of Warcraft with friends....

Vacation started! I love sunsets.

It stormed throughout the entire week. I absolutely loved it.

One day I will be able to convey the incredible beauty of rain upon the ocean.

That means I need to learn how to draw clouds and water!

We played a ton of board games throughout the week. I love him and his parents so much.

I wish I had noticed this older gentlemen before I started to leave. I would have loved to draw him.

It's impossible to describe the moment. He really did have a single light illuminating his table like that.

When I decided to go back, he had already left. :(  The moment was gone.

Game 2 kept getting restarted. We kept getting distracted and putting hilarious stuff (to us) on the board like RLNERD (real life nerd).

And Character Design:

My first week, I made an old mountain man.

I never thought I'd have to draw the same person over and over again!

And then again a million more times after watching my figure drawing homework!

October 17: How long is you hair?

I chopped it all off several months ago into a little pixie cut. It was previously entirely purple and reached halfway down my back for a couple years. I loved it so much, but I felt awful washing that dye down the drain.

It's currently right above my shoulders and it's SO close to long enough to pull out of my eyes again. I used to donate my hair every few years, and it was always fun growing it back out - I have wavy hair so it's different every day.

Not really much of anything.  I've been at work a lot and will likely be out of town this weekend, so hobby stuff is pretty much at a standstill.

Hobby progress:

IMG_20191017_214521191.thumb.jpg.e05b0811bf2febe0afa7ddb69a4b127b.jpg

In progress, some Death Star Lilies and a Wizkids female human rogue (to be a mul ranger for my friend's upcoming Dark Sun 5e game). Yep, I paint on a miniature mat in front of my vintage sewing machine right now.

Just measured my hair for the first time in a long time, 37" from the top of my head. It's tailbone length when braided, top of my thighs when loose. I've nearly always had very long hair, I missed it when I've cut it in the past, but I think it's getting a bit too long for how much thinner it's gotten lately, so it might get a hip length chop soon.

 Hair? What hair?

Gone on top, and about down to the base of my neck in back. Not by any particular choice or action - I haven't gotten a haircut in twenty five years - my hair just literally stopped growing.

Maybe a couple of inches past my shoulders? Long enough to put in a short plait to keep it tidy, but short enough to dry in a reasonable time without having to blow-dry it. Colour varies by season, but it's usually in the red to blonde range. My natural colour is a weird muddy red/brown I've never been a fan of, so I've been dying it since I was sixteen. One of these days I'm going to go for hidden rainbow hair like this ::D:

Not yet. I have issues with Actual Reality.

VR- Who says all of this is real??? Hm? Hm? :;,;:

Weekend Quest - It doesn't seem likely that I will be doing something new this weekend. It's under debate if I will do anything at all this weekend as a matter a fact.

Back when I was in college, my university's graphics lab was a leader in some elements of VR research. (Actually, they were just good in general. Lots of alumni from that period landed at Pixar, ILM, etc.)

I had no involvement in that work at all, but as a student in the department I did get to check out the "CAVE", which was an early VR environment, with a full helmet, control glove, and 3 wall+ceiling screens to create your world. It was very primitive by today's standards, but it was cool at the time.

Since then? Not much. I tried out Pokemon Go's AR before I figured out how to turn it off.

I've experienced both.  I have a friend that works for AMD and he has a pretty sweet VR setup in a spare room.  He has a couple of games and wilderness simulations that are a lot of fun and really impressive.  I was most amazed that VR was seamless and responsive enough to not make me nauseous, as badly simulated motion and shaky-cam garbage can make me throw up (I don't have any problems with real motion).  Standing on the edge of a cliff overlooking a valley gives you a comparable feeling to doing it in reality.  Horror games are way more exciting for the player, and the audience, as well.
