Not as cute as this though! watching anime with her daddy

It was not as horrifically hot as it might have been. ReaperCon was supposed to be the highlight but I kinda blew it, only managing to be there one day even though I had a four day pass. Bones V I am thinking each weekend you could ask people to predict where the grand total will be by noon (or 10am, or the first moment you check it) on the following Monday...this alongside the quest. Award bragging rights to whoever is closest. Maybe sprinkle a few in as alternate questions. Maybe no more than twice a week, once per week might be better. @Doug Sundseth and @Crowley already took us there anyway...although Doug might not have known he did. 20 hours ago, malefactus said: Each year, at least until high school, the dread "what did you do last Summer" essay loomed over the first few days of the return to school. I never could come up with a decent story even then. I cannot recall ever being accosted by such a miserable assignment. You're right, way too many: Beryl Corundum Jade (all the colors) Turquoise Opal But not diamond, which is both quite common and not especially pretty. Useful for cutting tools, though. Strongly recommend the gemstone exhibit at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science if you ever find yourself in town. Being as Denver started as a mining town and there are still many mines in the surrounding mountains, the collection is both extensive and gorgeous.

I do love gemstones: various types of agates, tigers- eye, jasper, malachite, amethyst, turquoise...not necessarily in that order.
Loim
If I had to pick one I'd probably go with amber. It is my favorite by far. I also love opal, topaz, sapphire, and jade. Not a gemstone but chert is also pretty cool, and obsidian.

Never did care for diamonds because to me they don't look any better than rhinestones or cubic zirconium.

I've always been a fan of emeralds and sapphires due to the color, though not enough to specifically buy jewelry with them, etc.

Sapphire is my birthstone but it's usually too dark, so I prefer tanzanite. Larimar reminds me of the ocean. Garnet, if it is really red and not pink or brown. Back in the early days I used to buy loose gemstones by the gram off ebay, thinking i could get them set later. Little did I know the settings would cost more than the stones.
