October 21: Do you like foods containing pumpkin (real pumpkin, not just pumpkin spice) and if so, what is your favorite?

Yes!

Pumpkin bread and pumpkin muffins, though pumpkin pie is good too.

Is this really such a rare thing South of the border?  Here in Alberta it seems half the stations are full serve, with a decent portion of them offering such a service at no extra charge!

Of course, I still pump my own fuel because otherwise I'd be bored out of my mind with nothing to do while such is happening, but still. :p

I would guess so. It's literally the only one I'm aware of, though I'm sure there are a few others here and there. Probably not along major traveled roads though. I mean it was literally the owner that came out and pumped the gas and cleaned the windows.

Companies merged, the brand got licensed, the formula changed, and then they went away, but back in the 80's and I was 5 I ate far too many of these.

God, that makes me think of summers at grandma and grandpa's. Grandma would buy those if we were good.

Oregon is all full service. I think they passed a law that requires it.

We passed a law earlier this year that you can now pump your own gas if you want to. I recall there were people freaking out over it. The old lady saying she's lived in the state her whole life & didn't know how, etc etc. I think allot of it was 'net trolling but I'm sure there were a few people that was serious about it.

Also certain parts of the state (like here) you can pump from gas stations that are closed (ie passing through after hours) & it's not illegal. As long as there is a pump open to use. I know the local co-op puts signs on most of their pumps, leaving 1 open for after hours use. Reason why the law was passed in the first place was for jobs & such.

My first mini came from the RP line but the way of the valuable "pew-tah" collectibles from a nickel & dime store in the town my grandmother lived in at the time. We were shopping & I came across the case with the dragons & wizards & saw this fighter mini that I really liked. It had a stuck on gem on it's belt buckle & on the shield.

(pic is from Lost Mini Wiki), Lord Nimrod, 10-414 Warlords box set. I may still have him round here somewhere.

(same box set but he was also in my initial 10 minis acquired list)

October 18: Have you ever experienced VR (virtual reality) or AR (augmented reality)?

Weekend Quest:

October 19-20: Try something new then tell us about it, or better yet show us.

I've tried VR, but it was a horror game and let's just say that whilst I absolutely LOVE horror movies, I'm really not good at actually being inside one :zombie:

Unfortunately, I was working long shifts all weekend so I didn't manage to do anything new. I'm going to a light festival next week if that counts (not technically new, but it's at a location that I haven't been to in years)

I've never actually eaten anything with pumpkin in it, though I'm planning on carving one this year if I have time. Hopefully I can use the flesh(?) for something tasty.

My grannies Clootie Dumpling. It's a kind of fruit and fat pudding that's boiled in a cloot(cloth). None of my family got the recipe from her before she passes away and I've tried over a dozen variations on it, but I've never gotten close ::(:

For some reason that feels strange..

... But nowhere near as strange as this.

With my personal vehicles, I pretty much NEVER let someone else fuel up my vehicle, mainly because after a while of people carelessly spilling gasoline down the rear quarter panel paint you start getting annoyed...  That and way too many people deliberately overfill your tank just to get an extra $0.50 out of you, sometimes putting even more in "for good measure".

No, it stopped filling at that point for a reason, pouring another two or three liters into a 45L tank that's now full (but still has a proper sized air gap) is a really bad idea!

But yeah, whenever I'm asked it's because I'd rather be holding the thing fuelling my car instead of twiddling my thumbs.  Most of the full serve guys where we refuel our work trucks really like me when it's winter, because I'll come in at the tail end of a rush and tell them to go inside and warm up for a few minutes...

Yeah, when hubby and I passed through there last year in our way to California, I got yelled at because I didn’t realize that was a thing and started pumping my own gas. That’s right, I’m a law breaker! :blues:

If you plan to eat it after carving, then be sure you get one of the smaller "pie pumpkins".  The big ones they sell for carving aren't grown for flavor.

Do not burn any candles in the pumpkin or it will taste like soot and wax.  Battery LEDs only.

New Jersey is full service (I am not from there), which is such a disservice when people from there leave that state. An ex-girlfriend and pretty much everyone I have known from New Jersey all have the same story: they were in another state, had to pump their own gas, and started to drive off with the pump still in their tank... *face palm*

Is this a sweet dish? I'm curious because those recipe ingredients called for beef suet (I assume that is the fat portion, and I also had to google what that was?) which is something I've never seen in a dessert/sweet dish.

Hmm. I kinda blocked out most of my childhood. But! I do remember at school one day, late 90s, the teacher had set out some building blocks for a project. I would love if I could figure out what they were - I've never gotten a name!

They were very small bricks. Smooth, cool to the touch, pale colored. Tons of them in a big pile! I want to say they were part of a set where you recreate the model provided but I just made my own stuff with them. Sound familiar to any of y'all?

I regularly still hear about people cussing out full service employees for refusing to start the pumps because someone hasn't pre-paid for their fuel....  Despite such becoming MANDATORY BY LAW over a year ago...

...Whats worse is they say they'll just go down the road somewhere else where such is allowed... Nope, no go there buddy, nobody is stupid enough to risk that kind of fine...

Do any of these look familiar?

Maybe that teacher was really nice and bought 2-3 different sets and combined them into a big glorious pile of blocks.
