October 22: Is there anything (food, toy, or other product) from your childhood that you would like to have again, but is no longer available?

Micronauts and gummy raisins.  Gummy raisins were these little brown tapered cylindrical gummies that didn’t really taste like raisins. They were their own little artificial abstraction of a raisin and I loved them.

I also missed Swedish Fish for a while, but then they came back.  At least I think they’re were gone - I didn’t see them for about 30 years and then started seeing them again.

And I don’t care there is no such thing as a Brontosaurus!

Whoah - what do you mean there’s no such thing as a brontosaurus?  Of course there’re brontosaurus’s!

Oh, and for the weekend quest, I did try zenithal priming and then basecoating a huge mini with an airbrush for the first time:

In elementary school we had a game on our school’s Mac 2 computers called “Rescue in the outback”. It was very fun to play. It was similar to Oregon trail but set in the Australian outback. It was great, but I haven’t been able to find a copy now that I’m an adult.

I thought about this one for quite a while and couldn't come up with anything I truly miss. Grew up on a farm so food was just food, same stuff you can get nowadays. Still own most of the farm as well. I don't remember any toys I was very attached to or other products I liked that I couldn't get now, or at least a reasonable facsimile of them. I guess I miss my skateboards. I mean, I could get one now if I wanted. But it wouldn't be the same, because I'd probably break something if I tried skateboarding again.

October 23: Do you paint busts? Show us if you have.

Just started painting a bust recently. Aaron Lovejoy and I are working on the male Summoning a Dragon bust from Frozen Ninja in my private coaching sessions..

No pics yet, as we have just started and it's still at the primer stage. Guess I'll need to start another WIP.

Yes.

These are the ones I painted so far:

I'm more of a "Paint all of my minis, or Bust!"

But no, I have never painted a single bust.

Seeing all the painted Frozen Ninja busts during ReaperCon and the number of busts featured in Bones 5 is making me consider one day jumping into this endeavour.

Well... There were (1900 or so), then there weren't (1905ish), then there were or there weren't (through 1970ish), then there definitely weren't (until 2015) and now there probably were.

The apatosaurus/brontosaurus/camarasaurus description debate is a hot one in paleontology.

My current "big project" is my first bust. Once I get the prep work done I'll start a WiP.

Only the one:-

It's part of the hobby I've been interested in, but the cost and my general wariness of painting large things (I don't have a great track record when it comes to finishing my big minis) stops me from taking the plunge.

Not yet.  If I don't bite the €35-40 bullet at Legebdarion or somewhere else before hand, I suspect that Dragon Bust in Bones V will wind up being my first.

They're tempting, just.... Pricy.

They are quite attractive. And I definitely respect the skill needed to get something with large details looking nice. But no, I don't paint them and honestly don't have any desire to. But that's just me, I'm certainly not going to complain about them being in Bones V.

@Kuroneko I get you. I have been trying unsuccessfully for 20+ years now to recreate my Mamaw's cornbread. I make (in my opinion) some pretty darn tasty cornbread, but somehow I just can't get it quite the same.

My grannies Clootie Dumpling. It's a kind of fruit and fat pudding that's boiled in a cloot(cloth). None of my family got the recipe from her before she passes away and I've tried over a dozen variations on it, but I've never gotten close ::(:

My paternal grandmother liked to make lemon chess pie. By some unknown alchemy she would juice 8 lemons and incorporate that much lemon juice in the pie filling. Her lemon pies were LEMON pies; bite into one and they’d bite you back. Just the way my dad liked them.

None of her granddaughters have succeeded in replicating her pie; that much lemon juice tends to make the filling soupy (I’m told).
