Cloud Giantess: Yephima 2.0

Outstanding paintwork you’ve done on her Corporea.

I’ve mentioned it elsewhere but I think of all your work I’ve seen, this is my favourite!

Thanks for giving this gorgeous giantess her own thread so we can all say how much we love how you painted her!  I mean, I loved the unpainted one, but you really brought her to life beautifully!

I told you how great it was on the Twitch show, but I am DeaconKC on Twitch, so I don't know if you got my congrats or not. But what a beautiful job you did on this sculpt.

Your paint job is amazing but I'm wondering why you chose purple for the hair when the rest of the color scheme was blue/gold?  Why not mint green, or the cool yellow, or even the green gold?  The purple just feels wrong to me.  Completely out of left field and not connected to the rest of the figure.

Corporea, this is an amazing, amazing paint job.

This might already have been my favorite sculpt so far in Bones V, and your paint job is just... she's so pretty.

And thank you for the WIP - it's always cool to see a master-grade painter at work!

purple and yellow are complementaries, so I wanted the color contrast.  It's one of my favorite complementary combos.  Do cloud giants have green hair?  I should have done more research in the monster manual!  I felt like if I go yellow, I risk blonde, and green feels too oceany to me.  For some reason the purple just felt colder and frostier. More cloudy!

Thanks guys!!!

I wasn't sure if I should post this in Show off or WIP, but I figured here and if you would please forgive the in progress parts in the subsequent post.

I think you can post wherever the broccoli you want!

I loved this sculpt when I saw it in August and was very excited to see a bigger, new version of her coming.  I love the existing Yephima too, but she’s a bit more sexy/playful.  This one looks strong and commanding - she’s a badass!  Your interpretation of her is just perfect - this is the reference for this figure, obviously.

Thank you so much for sharing this.  It’s always nice and helpful to look at amazing reference/professional quality pieces.  Getting to see some of your process and thinking as you were designing and executing it is so much more interesting and valuable.  It’s very generous of you to take the time to do this, and it’s greatly appreciated.

Do you have a photo of the top of the column after blending?  I’d be interested to see how it ended up.

Also, do you figure out the highlighting on the armor as you paint, or plan it out beforehand?

I want to try NMM, but not sure how to start.  I’ve seen people block out values beforehand on the figure, and that seems like good way to figure it out.  I thought about taking a photo and marking it up in a layer in a photo editing app or something like that.

This is one of the giants that I've painted that I'm the most proud of!

Hi all.  I just finished the Colossal Skeleton that I've had for a couple years now.  For the longest time I was holding off because I was afraid of doing a mini so much bigger than all the rest.  I've gotten some nice reviews on some of my recent stuff so I decided to take the plunge and try my hand at my first large figure.  I have several sets much larger than even this guy so I had to start somewhere.  The closeup pics show how much work I did on the fur for the back lioncloth as well as the wood grain lines I painted on the planks on his right thigh.  I based him on a wooden plaque my mom was getting rid of that I painted black.  I was doing more work on the base, it was supposed to have some more colours in it but I messed up on the drybrushing so I called it finished and hid the mistake with some static grass .  So far one friend has told me the blue rags pull him out of the mini because they look too new and blue while the rest of him is old and rotted.  Maybe he could do with some more staining on the blue but it doesn't bother me much.  Anyways, enough preamble, I hope you all like him enough as my first large mini!

Edit: forgot to apologize for the make-believe "lightbox" photos, but that's how it goes.

      Belius versus Angus and Branag

Belius the Black is a giant with mysterious origins. We say about him  that it is the reincarnation of a god, or even,  the guardian of an ancient temple. In short, according to the babarian tribes of the North, it is a black legend  related to Bregan Lorelei’s great-grandfather.

Bélius is a 70 mm figurine sculpted by me, not counting my hours, in order to obtain the incarnation of the warrior of evil, chaos and destruction. The resin cast will be made by Mr Dès, former melter of  Rackham , a pledge of high quality. This project , a range of dark fantasy figurines, is important because I can create from A to Z what i want  while satisfying the fans of my work.

Indeed,  I have been sculpting figurines for more than 20 years : First, for Rackham for 9 years and then for various freelance brands such as Mierce Miniatures,  Monolith with Conan, Mythic Battles and Claustrophobia which are successful  on Kickstarter.

The Kickstarter platform will allow me to finance the moulds for all the figurines, which are all my personal creations. Knowing that the fans of my work will be able to hold them in hand, paint them, or play with them in any kind of games is really a great pleasure for me. This first step is important because i imagine that these figurines are destined for a game in the future.

Belius is accompanied by two brothers, Angus and Branag (35mm): They are barbarians from northern tribes. They are elite soldiers ready to  do anything to protect their lands and the Elebore Forest from any intrusion in the name of their leader, the demigod Siegfried.
