The window that opens crashes, looks like some kind of cookie related error. I have contacted them to see if it can get sorted. Hopefully today would be nice, I decided to get that bundle from Heroes Infinite and the deal ends today... I was a backer, but I'm not terribly sad that they shut the project down. I was going to drop that one anyway because the only original content they were going to release felt uninspired and didn't really look like any of the work they've released through their retail channels. I have no way to corroborate this, but after reading their notice, I felt as if piracy was more of an excuse. I know piracy exist, but I've never gotten the impression it was as bad as they implied. It may be because I back a lot of patreons and don't go looking for other avenues of acquiring STLs. Given how the previews looked, it felt as if they decided the need to put out models every month was more work than they bargained for. I don't know. I love Yedharo's models, but never supported their patreon as I wanted STLs of the models on their site, not whatever they were pushing, and I found their KS rather pricy. As for the piracy, seeing what some Patreon's have done over the summer like Mini Monster Mayhem forcing you to message him to get the download link and the like, I'm assuming there is a fair bit of shenanigans going on that they are trying to work around. There’s nothing on the build plate edit 2: there were two pretty little circles of plastic in the vat. Assuming it fell off at some point. The documentation is rather silent on that topic. While it can certainly vary by the type of resin and other conditions, it should definitely not take that long to cure. A resin print will cure in the Sun or under an UV light. You can see the colour getting a tad darker, I usually put it under the lamp for an hour and turn it every 15 minutes. 24 hours will be too much. I use the Elegoo Grey Resin, it doesn't smell bad. DO use a mask and gloves when you remove that lid to remove the print. Keep those gloves on while handling uncured resin! As for your first failure. Level the build plate Make sure there are no "islands" in the print ( you might need to add more supports) Use the right supports, I once used light ones for a big mini, it just became a blob while it needed heavy supports. It's important to not just level the print platform properly before the first print, but also to clean it very thoroughly as it may have ft or grease on it from handling. Piracy. We all know that there's a lot of pirated minis on sale on eBay and other venues. Some makers, creating larger display pieces and busts, have taken to assemble them before shipping them to customers in the hope that it will slow the Chinese priates down somewhat. With STLs I expect that it won't be long before some designs have customer IDs encoded into them. Make a knob larger or smaller, change the length of a lock of hair, and so on. With every change very small it would be difficult to notice anything, but the designer would be able to spot them and lookup who it was sold to. 5 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I've seen some people get away with making sculpts of an IP infringing variety under the veil of 'Fan Art'. While I don't disagree that it is still technically fan art, most forms of fan art don't allow rapid reproduction of a physical product. While most are given away for free, I could see it becoming 'problematic' for some corporations eventually. Indeed, I've seen some stuff on thingieverse ( even got a few) where I realised these were actually scans of physical models from other companies! A lot of people don't see the amount of work that goes into an STL as being the equivalent of, well, anything else, they think that a digital file should be free - no different to people stealing digital artworks (including photos) from various websites. This is why for the items that I'm getting designed for printing I'm paying an artist to do the concept work first, even if it's something that has plenty of artwork out there. From a printer perspective, I think some designers need to get it out of their heads that everyone has access to a printer, and recognise that sometimes people will need to reach out to a commercial print service to get something printed - as long as the print service isn't advertising those designs as being for sale then I don't see this as being different to the hobbyist printing the item for themselves. It's also why I prefer models for commercial print services where you pay either a per-print license fee (e.g. 10% of revenue from the print is paid to the designer) or a one-off license fee (e.g. pay $25 instead of $7 for the file, and have commercial rights for a period of time) than a subscription model where you're paying monthly for that license...but that may just be my dislike of having to pay monthly fees for something that may not be used... 5 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
