PaganMegan
(Not my picture.) Third time was the charm on the giant. Hollowed him out and fresh resin. I have named him Big Duhr. In his head he's protecting that princess. She doesn't NEED protecting. Medusa Miniatures' Confused Giant with Bored Princess. The name of the figure says it all! PaganMegan
I'll use him for the Bounty Board game. Her parents want her rescued. She doesn't want the PCs to hurt the giant. And he is thick enough that trying to convince him of things is HARD! Edited March 26, 2021 by PaganMegan

Zink
Well bleep. I've been trying to get some faster settigns working to print dollhouse furniture for the wife and daughter. Doing some kitchen chairs and had bad luck and incredibly weak prints for the legs. Did a bunch of things trying to get it printing better including these. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6LjbCIGCmd0 Got it printing pretty nice on my small test pieces so decided to do the chair legs before bed. I checked them a couple times and it was turning out good. Then when it was about 60% done I noticed it was using an older temp setting. Way too hot. So I manually dropped the temp 10 degrees to what my tests said was best. Came back after it was finished and it was total crap after I "fixed" the temperature. Not a huge deal and another lesson of "if it's working don't try to fix it". I'll try to print it again in the morning leaving it at high temperature.

haldir
Anyone know where to find the ec3d stl files from his kickstarters for sale? I didn't back one of his sci fi ones & noticed he has a nice not-skittermander mini.

Ignis Quadrant is not among those, only late pledge for the entire KS or various components. $30 bucks is a bit much for 3 stl files. haldir
So I'm gonna change out my FEP, hopefully that'll solve the no print problem after changing out the LCD. Awhile back I got the wrong size screws when I replaced some wayward ones. Metric confuses me. The ones in the Anycubic are the following: "M3*5 What is the length of these? I'm assuming it's the smallest length. Again, I thought I had the right ones before & the ones I got were a tad bit too long.
haldir
Ok, I'm gonna add the new screws later when I change the FEP out again, as the screws I have now (I've slightly modified) cause I totally spaced off I need to print a few things for Saturday's adventure. Namely some cupboards (one with ghostly hands from Great Grimoire which is growing on me day by day, almost to a point where I may back them in Patreon) & I need to find a girl in a bathtub who has committed suicide (kinda grim but that is the theme of the adventure.). I've seen GG has a girl in a bathtub, thou she is screaming & Bella Nacht has one as well. They are close & if these cupboards print, I'll probably pick one of those up. I wish the GG's Alice with the doll was 2 separate prints, but they are together (at least I think so, sculptor has yet to answer my post & it's been over a week, one knock against them). If I can find the Reaper doll mini, I have, it's all a moot point. Off to insert usb stick & hopefully I get prints!
haldir
Well it appears I have a giant paperweight now. I sliced up couple of cupboards & it was a short print like 2 hrs & plate just finished & it's the same way it was before. Nothing on the plate except for a bit of liquid resin. I bet if I take & drain the Vat, I'll have a small flat piece of resin, maybe two as I had two pieces this time. I have no idea what is going wrong? I'm getting perfect LCD tests. Plate is leveled & everything else is how is suppose to be. Right now I'm placing blame on the LCD I got from aliexpress but who knows with the tests. I'm thinking of getting a Elegoo screen off big A (I won't pay for what Anycubic wants for theirs....), if that one won't work, then I'm out of the resin printing for now. This was one of the reasons why I dreaded changing that lcd out....sigh. VERY FUSTRATING! At least I didn't buy some files this week for Saturday's game, it would have just been a waste of cash.
Moderator TaleSpinner Posted March 31, 2021 Moderator Share Posted March 31, 2021 @haldir Which machine are you having this issue with, the Photon S? It really sounds like a not sticking to the plate issue. Have you been using the paper method to level the plate? If so, try this method: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V45o8udXNsM Check your plate and see if there is any wiggle where it joins to the cube. If so, you might need to take it apart and tighten the screws inside. There is another youtube video for that. Did you tune the FEP? If not, it may be too tight. The FEP needs to be able to flex enough. A tight FEP will pull the model off of the plate. How is your plate surface? Try sanding it on a flat surface with 220 sandpaper. Try upping you base layer exposure 10 to 30 seconds. It might be a slightly different formulation of the resin, or the new lcd isn't letting as much light through and you need to adjust parameters.

Resin makes a BIG difference. I've had a lot more fails since I started using a water washable resin. It's convenient and less stinky, but I will be going back to stinky and less convenient.

Before I went & got my covid vac shot today I looked at the Vat & build plate & it's exactly like it was with my first print after the lcd change. Just a bit of liquid on the plate & 2 starter flats on the FEP. On 3/31/2021 at 5:21 AM, TaleSpinner said: Have you been using the paper method to level the plate? I was going to try a similar method from 3dprintingfarms (yt channel), but ended up using the same method I've been using. I'll look at that video today & see if I like it. FEP is snare drum like & my plate surface is standard with a bunch of removing print scratches on it. On 3/31/2021 at 5:21 AM, TaleSpinner said: Try upping you base layer exposure 10 to 30 seconds. When I read this, I was going to implement this & for some reason I've never noticed since I use 2 slicers, they aren't the same!!! Workshop setting is totally different then Chitubox. Thou, tbh, I'm thinking it's the the new lcd as it's a aliexpress (ie bargain-basement brand) bought part. I guess I need to fiddle with it, but that means allot of slicing-waiting-no print-clean FEP- ahead of me...joys. I'm hoping it's not the resin I'm using as I like Shine Sing brand. Granted it's harder then hell to find now on big A & it's not as cheap as it was when I bought this bottle. I do have anther off-brand that I got recently. Hoping I have good result with that. Again, just part of that whole, not wanting to change out the Anycubic branded lcd for the aliexpress one. It's a learning exprience, just one I'd rather not go through. No eye irrantant, no smell. I still wear gloves but with the Wash N Cure even the clean up is "less-resin". I don't think I'll ever do water-washable. I've heard too many bad things vs regular stuff. I kinda treat it like real model cement vs the lemon-smelling non-toxic one (one works & one doesn't). With our stimulus card (why a card again? Rather just have a paper check!!) I may look into Elegoo or even Phrozen. I just got to decide if the extra 100 dollars is worth the cost. Even after I bought My Anycubic Photon S, I was looking at Elegoo Mars printers. I kinda wish I would have researched them even further as I wouldn't have went with Anycubic.
