haldir
I keep checking daily on MMF for that Spring Sale, ha ha. I guess I'm getting impatient to complete the pregen PC minis. I told myself I was going to start painting for RCon, next month, so I guess that anther factor, even thou I'm not technically going to be painting the PCs minis, other then a wash or something. Why paint something that might not even get used. I had the amount down but I've since added some figures that represent some other thing better. so a 40% or more sale would be very nice right now. Plus, I know damn well, if I buy those files, that sale will show up! On the plus side, the troublesome file I tried printing last week, came out great! I decided to do a overnight & when I woke up this morning, it printed out perfectly. Odd owlbear sculpt (it has antlers) but come one, a owlbear is a odd combo anyways + AG sculpt for the win!

Your constant checking is preventing us from getting the sale!🤪 1

Granted I think the email I get from MMF announcing the sale probably will be the easiest indication of the sale. I did eliminate anther purchase by going through Artisan Guild's catalog I have already. Thou, I did just get a 40% off code from them for being on Patreon with them. I'm missing the Dwarven Oathbreakers set. As one of the pregens is a somewhat homage to my favorite part of the WoW opening scene, the gun dwarves would be a nice mini...heh heh.
lowlylowlycook
A friend of mine has had a Photon Mono for well over a year without using it so I went to his house today to get him going. Things learnt: Maybe a giant crocodile wearing spiky armor and wielding giant spiky maces isn't the best model to use while explaining how to add supports manually. Make the first print one of those very thin exposure tests because.... You should really make sure that you take off any protective plastic film that in inexplicably stuck on your build plate before printing. Second print went better so hopefully he is on the way to printing some minis and I did have what I thought was a good idea in bringing an unwashed build plate so he could start using the wash and cure while we waited for that first print. 6 1
Olaf the Stout
I’m about to try printing in clear resin, so I’m after ideas of what to print. This is the list I have so far: - Spell effects - LED STLs (STLs designed to work with LEDs in them) - Gelatinous cube - Slimes and oozes - Crystals - Elementals - Portals - Various undead - Will o’ wisp - Invisible stalker - Mephits - Various fire creatures - Crystal golem - Hell hound - Shadow dragon - Nightmare - Frost and fire giants Any obvious I’m overlooking?

It could be intimidation and feeling overwhelmed by something new and unknown. When I got my replacement tank last week, it took me half a day to get it out and run a print, even though I had something I needed to print for a friend and nothing on that day. The previous failures left me feeling unmotivated to want to try it. If they’d never printed before, that fear factor could have stopped them from starting. Then it only gets worse the longer you have it and don’t use it. So you just leave it sitting there, unused.

Oh and he has a pretty big pile of plastic shame so he didn't really "need" to print anything. Personally, if I go a while without printing I definitely lose momentum and have to really find some motivation to start up again.

That’s a good one. Any recommendations of good ones? 1 hour ago, lowlylowlycook said: @Olaf the Stout has the gist of it but another barrier is that he had to buy a PC to run the slicer on. I definitely have periods where I’m printing lots for a week or two, then not at all for several months. I definitely feel you on losing momentum, then struggling to get motivated again.

I'm kind of dealing with that with my Trident at the moment, after all. I'm now at the point of just yanking out the harness and replacing it to remove that as a variable, because it wasn't a loose connector, or a dying heater... And occasionally heater just reports 0%, so it's clearly in either the harness or the toolhead pcb.... So when I get the motivation, it's remove harness, change pcb (I have a spare one), change heater, and change thermistor... But that's several hours of work, and a bunch of re-crimping too while I'm at it.. Editing to add: but if I don't do it, I won't be able to progress further on the v2 build, yaaaay. So for now I paint >.>;;; since I really, really wanted to paint. Edited March 27 by WhiteWulfe
