Elgoo is made in China, should be enough said about the quality to expect. Have you tried putting in some loctite on the screw?

On the plus side, their after market service is decent the one time I had to use it.

As for the loctite, I don't think that's something I'd consider. Just seems like a good way to make a bad situation worse.

The Elegoo Wash station really annoys me. Just fixed it for the second time in a bit over a year.

The problem is the spinning platform is held in place by a single screw. Over time that screw vibrates loose and eventually stops spinning, resulting in a big grinding noise that makes you think something has gone horribly wrong.

Now the fix is simple, unscrew the bottom of the unit and re-tighten the screw. However, it’s not an obvious solution (I only found the solution by googling), it’s not obvious there’s even something there to tighten and Elegoo don’t supply an Allen key that fits the screw. I had to buy a set of small Allen keys from a hardware store to fix it.

The fact that this happens every 6 months shows that it’s a design flaw. On top of that my spinning platform has developed a slight lean, so I needed to jury rig a way to offset that, which took 3 attempts involving lots of screwing and unscrewing each time.

It annoys me how cheaply made the thing is for something I consider to be an essential piece of kit. When you open the thing up you can see that it’s just moulded plastic and a couple of dollars of electronics. So it’s no surprise that bits on it break easily.

yeah, I have the Mercury X and I had problems almost out of the box with the driver wheel being too flimsy. Mine developed a crack from the begining that wouldn't let it tighten down right.

They also for some reason I can't fathom used an under powered stepper motor instead of a decent dc electric motor to drive it. so if the wheel slips forward any and starts rubbing on the inside of the housing - jam and noise.

My cure station lid sensor isn't working right any more, I had to put a piece of foil tape on the lid right over it so it will actually detect that the lid is on now.

Yep, I think my plastic spinner that holds the magnets has developed a crack that I’m going to contact Elegoo about now before it actually breaks in half and stops working.

I’m also unsure if one of the uv strips on my cure station is slightly underpowered or not plugged in properly as the lights don’t seem as bright as the other side.

Make that a third time. I obviously didn't screw it in tight enough as it came loose again after using it another dozen times. I've emailed Elegoo about it's probably only a matter of time before the plastic spinner breaks completely. Plus one of my UV LEDs seems to be on the way out as well.

On the flipside, Anycubic's wash n cure 1.0 has been a solid piece of equipment for me. Heck, it outlasted the Photon 2 printer I got it for. 😀

Printed a bracket on the Cr6 when I upgraded to the mini 4k.

I will need to upgrade that if I ever get a bigger build plate, so I think I will avoid Elegoo name when looking for a replacement unit.

The big plus for the Elegoo wash station is that it fits my Saturn 2 build plate. So all of my prints get cleaned right on the build plate before they get removed.

It means I don’t have to clean the build plate and I’m not handling uncured resin.

Elegoo got back to me already. For all their faults, their customer service is at least quick.

They want video of the various issues. Last time they asked for that they replaced my wonky tank with a new one, so maybe I’ll at least get some replacement parts. Someone on Amazon that had the same issue said that Elegoo sent them a metal version of the plastic part. I’d be happy with that outcome.

Wash and Cure station problems aside, my Saturn 2 has performed fantastically since I got back into printing mode for my upcoming Blood Bowl tournament.

After the initial build plate, which partially failed, and must have been due to some residue on the FEP, I’ve had 12 successful build plates with every single mini printing successfully.

It’s a nice feeling when stuff just works.

yeah, I was looking around on it yesterday, it looks like they've acknowledged that the plastic drive wheel isn't robust enough and have been sending out an upgraded one to a lot of people when it breaks now, so here's hoping they get you taken care of.

Yeah, it's annoys me that they know it's a common problem, yet they haven't bothered to upgrade the base model. Instead they change parts over when it breaks and someone bothers to contact them about it.

Yep, that happened to us - the service was quick and painless.

And yes the wheel was metal, it has not given us a problem since.
