Reaper Bones 5 : Enthusiasm and Commentary Thread

Recommended Posts

So far, not really feeling the reveal of part 2 of the Greek expansion.  So far, only the Bronze Golem really jumps out at me, so I guess I'll be waiting for retail for him, and hopefully not having as long as of a wait for one like the Iron Golem.  Been waiting months to get a second one.

I do know a number of people were looking forward to the new Yephima being in there, so I'm happy for them ^_^

It looks a bit unfinished to me too.   Other than that I like it quite a bit.  Have a player who is always asking to borrow lions and gladiators.  Going to point him at this.

i think it's the hind leg especially, but also the feet. They don't have those big exaggerated toes a lion has, but are more condensed down like a canine's.

The knee though, seems to have too much bend to it. Both at the knee, and the curve leading from knee to ankle

but i know i'm in the minority haha, and that animal anatomy is a big part on if i will actually like a mini or not. over all part 2 is a bit 'meh' for me, but i still like part 1 enough to stay in for it

My only issue with the second part of the Greek expansion is there is only one Leucrotta. I need at least 5 of those! I have used those against my players and they HATE them but said it was such a fun fight!

I was already in for the Greek expac and I am happy with the second part. I wish there were a few more minis but they seem to be throwing in big stuff so I can't complain and I don't hate anything in it and will use everything they have revealed thus far.

My initial thought was "the leucrotta looks kind of dumb". Then I looked up the actual leucrotta and indeed it looks kind of dumb. It's supposed to look kind of dumb, like one of those "a wizard did it" monsters  Durn drunken wizards, stop snorting your spell components!

Success, then?

I already have money on this expansion. Still not regretting it ::D:

Yeah, I bought the original Bones Yephima a year or two ago... and was quite disappointed in the size.  She's no bigger than the 2004 D&D Frost Giant mini, so I was planning to have to paint her up as a Frost Giant.  With this new Huge version, I suppose I can paint her up as a child Cloud Giant (but the fact she is sexually developed, while being the approximate proportional size of a 6-year old... kind of throws a wrench in that, at least for me).

Here she is next to the first D&D 3e Frost Giant, and the first Pathfinder Frost Giant.

i like most of it, but not a fan of the Nemean lion. I hope it's a WIp render. that hind leg looks really odd

it's almost like it has a human knee, not a feline knee

if that is for sure the finished project, then it is one i shall either be resculpting all four limbs on or box of goodwilling. No offense to the sculptor of course, just speaking my opinion.

I noticed the same thing and posted a remarkin the comments section of the update.

And now I can’t help but think of a couple of goblins in a poorly made pantomime lion costume going out and performing nefarious deeds.AC275161-19DC-40EF-8CB7-848A762ECFE9.thumb.jpeg.9a10ecb3ff270252099c2df640e5da67.jpeg

It looks a bit off to me too.  Maybe it’s the render or the angle, but it looks kind of cartoony.

I think the forelegs look too thick compared to the hind legs.  The “wrists” look swollen and stiff.

I don't want to be nitpicky or accused of attacking the sculptor though, do I shall leave it be.

Maybe when I get mine I shall cut it down and pose.it dead with Heracules standing over it

I feel like this sums up my feelings on it - I liked how many minis the dungeon dwellers expansion had just for dollars per mini, and I'm a little disappointed that the greek expansion seems to be going to be a much smaller amount of minis, but its definitely still worth it. If part one had 8 minis, part two 7, then presuming another 7-8 gets us close to 25 minis gets us to aprox. $2 per mini.

.... and you can't really argue with a $2 hydra or giant like that.

The showed a graphic that had Yephima and said Greek expansion 2...

I wasn’t planning on getting the Greek expansion so this probably means I have to wait til retail for her. But who knows what I will add in the PM.

they also said they will talk to Ed about a cannon pack. I am excited for a canon pack.

That would be awesome!

I would definitely get some of those for my Expedition into the Lost World.

Greek Exp keeps looking good, only up to three minis I don't like (Hydra, Lion and other Cat).

At this point, Part three could be a total failure (although I hope it isn't) and it would still be worth getting.

There are a few very nice things in this KS, but so far it will all be retail purchases, or maybe just a few things now.

Waiting to see what material the ship will be made off and the price tag on that one.

Should they bring out a Ship's Cannon pack, that I will get and probably that lovely Spider.

I wish there will be more of interest in the next Depth Expansion part for me.

Or surprise me with a Dimetrodon, Aztec style warriors.

If the rumours of an oldtimer ( A Ford/T-Ford?) are true then I will want that, maybe include a female explorer with a tropical helmet and a gun and I will be all over that!

( Someone has to excavate the Undead hidden in the Desert!)

      About
First Legion 75mm Fantasy "Femmes Fatales" Resin Figure Kits
A new series of provocative 75mm Fantasy Resin Figure Kits, each one beautifully sculpted and cast and a joy to paint.
      Who We Are
First Legion has long been a leading producer of 60mm scale superbly hand painted historical metal and resin figures as well as metal and resin figures kits in various scales. We most recently expanded into 28mm Fantasy miniatures with a huge launch of amazing sculpts that will be coming to retail early next year.   Please visit our websites and social media for more information.
      First Legion Historical
      First Legion Fantasy

      First Legion Instagram
The theme of the series is "Femmes Fatales", beautiful but dangerous women characters. Whether by force,  guile, or seduction these ladies are not to be fussed with.    There are 7 figures in total, each one more beautiful than the next and ranging in style from Gothic, to far eastern, nomadic, northern, and even an Aztec.   The commonality to them is that they are all stunning models of beautiful, dangerous women.
Those of you who followed our 28mm Fantasy Minis Kickstarter will recognize these figures from the "Femmes Fatales" Core Set.   They were originally sculpted in 75mm scale and reduced in scale to 28mm to be included in that KS as part of our 28mm fantasy series.  We present them here as originally conceived.
Unlike our 28mm KS, which had 170+ models, this KS is purposely very simple and very succinct.    Stunning models at great prices with rewards shipping in just 3 months!
      Pledge Levels
The first 5 Figures listed below are tied to pledge levels with selections to be made in our pledge manager following funding.   The higher the pledge level, but better deal it is on each figure.
Early Bird Pledge Levels are open for the first 27 hours.
      Add-On Sets
The last two are available as an add-ons only, or as part of the "Drop Dead Gorgeous" Pledge Level.  Finally, there are three more that will be optional add-ons tied to stretch goals.
      Resin Figure Kits
All miniatures are produced in high quality resin and provided unpainted and unassembled.
      Mature Audience
The figures below contain some nudity and are not suitable for audiences under 18.
If you are offended by such figures, please stop reading and just move on.   They are purposely designed to be risqué, sexy, dangerous, and above all beautiful.

I’m interested in what people here think of this.
It seems like a great idea, but I’m wondering if there might be some unforeseen drawbacks.

      EDIT: It's live! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/oathsworn/oathsworn-burrows-and-badgers-anthro-miniatures-mouse-dog-cat

We love miniatures. We love tabletop games. We love anthropomorphic animals, from Disney's Robin Hood through The Wind in the Willows to Brian Jaques' Redwall books. So we combined the things we love in our Burrows & Badgers tabletop skirmish game and the accompanying range of miniatures. And our Kickstarter backers have already helped us to grow the range to over 100 miniatures - but now it's time to add some more!

      Some miniatures from previous projects...

Why are we making more miniatures?
Because we want more characters for our Burrows & Badgers games – my Freebeast warband needs reinforcements, for a start!
And we know a lot of other people are looking for more anthropomorphic animal miniatures too. A lot of people are playing Burrows & Badgers now, and many of them have asked for Massive Hounds and a Massive Raptor, so we've sculpted them! Some will want to use them for other tabletop or roleplaying games, while others love painting miniatures, and our figures are perfect for that, full of character ready to be brought to life with your paintbrush....
And some people just love collecting miniatures; again, we've made this new set of Burrows & Badgers figures perfect for collectors. They are all single piece models, with integral bases, so there are no fiddly parts to be glued on.
We love making miniatures; we hope you'll love our miniatures too.

      Why we need your help...
We've got 17 new miniatures sculpted, but they need to have moulds made before we can start producing the miniatures. And that's why we need funding; to get the production moulds made, and get the casting process started.

      About the miniatures...
There are other ranges of anthropomorphic animal miniatures out there, but ours are a little different. We didn't want all the races of animals to be the same size. Instead, we've scaled them to each other; so a shrew or a mouse is a very small model, about 20mm tall, and a really big animal like a badger will stand about 50mm tall, for example.
Each sculpted figure shown below has a scale picture with it, showing its height in millimetres. All our models are supplied unpainted.

      The Pledges
We’re keeping it as simple as possible; there’s an ‘All-in’ pledge, which gets you all the new miniatures in this Kickstarter, and any bonus bits that may come along… there’s also a ‘Pick’n’Mix’ Pledge, if you just want to get a few of the new miniatures. For the Pick'n'Mix, just total up the prices of all the miniatures you want, and pledge for that amount. There's a minimum pledge of £10. There's only six of the sculpts shown so far, but expect more to be added regularly... I'll probably add two or three a day!

      ^Minimum of £10

      Pledge Level: The Great £40

      Pledge Level: The Small £64

      Pledge Level: All In £99

      About
-Hi everyone, this time I propose you a Fishing Village:
5 Houses   7 Footbridges  1 Bridge -A few years ago I did something similar for video games
here you can see the video: and I've thought of creating models suitable for 3D printing.
-The models are in scale for 28 mm miniatures and are divided into components to be assembled without glue only joints.
-Doors, windows, nets and winches are printed separately.
-Each house is playable inside, with working doors and on the ground floor there is a fireplace with the pipeline out.
-The prints you see below have been made with an Ender 3, layer 0.2 mm, infill 5%, Pla Geetech white, the models have been designed to have as few supports as possible, I printed them with an overhang of 80 ° -85 °, support Z distance 0,3 mm.
-I highly recommend the use of printers with a print bed of at least 20x20x20 cm (for this scale).
-Paint with cans and acrylic colors.
-Each house needs about 500-800 grams of filament.
-I put hooks scattered on the houses to attach cordage or oil lamps
-I remind you that only digital models will be sent to you, NOT PHISICAL ONES.
      * Good fishing ... *
By removing the base you can have houses for a land village.
