Reaper Bones 5 : Enthusiasm and Commentary Thread

Recommended Posts

Wait, a dire eel?   Intriguing.

And of course the kind of looks like a Doom eye thingy with crab arms reveals itself.  Nice.

Wonder if it'll be a water dragon, or dragon-shark in part 3...

Feeling very "meh" about the Dark Depths unlock.   May pick up the merfolk at some point.  Killer clam? Last I knew clams don't often produce giant pearls.

Unfortunately, I'm kind of underwhelmed by Bones V. I tend to dislike extremely large figures and would prefer to make my own terrain so there's not a whole lot I want so far.

Yeah, here too.  In for the spider temple set though.  Two if DH wants one.  The bridge and gate don't interest me much.

I'm a first time backer.  I only discovered this hobby after the bones IV kickstarter was done the pledge manager closed.  I guess the more often you back and the larger your collection the more picky one can be.  It only makes sense, if you have a ton of one thing from previous kickstarters than having more of them isn't ideal, especially if you are happy with the amount you have.

As for me, I'm super happy with what's on offer for Bones V since I kind of need a bit of everything anyway.    I'm super stoked about the Thing in the Well.

So far I'm in on the core set, the Dungeon Dwellers expansion, the paints, and the Dragon Bust.  I'm still eyeballing the Greek expansion but we'll have to see about that once the 3rd tier unlocks.

Glad you're having fun because people like you are fueling this extravaganza.  I went in pretty big on #1 and #4, smaller n #2 and #3,  and don't need a lot of random, general use figures. Never mind that I have most of it in metal already.

If I were a fantasy player I would be into this much more heavily. I am waiting for scifi and Chronoscope, so I just pledged a smaller amount so far.

I want to spend money on pulp adventurers, starship crew, supernatural investigators, steampunk characters, space colonists,  cyberpunk gangsters,  and zombie hunters.  C'mon Reaper, give me an excuse to throw my money at you!

Right now I'm in for the catfolk, the Yokai, the spider temple, and the Greek exp.  $85-90?

In one of the YouTube videos last week, Jason Weibe (IIRC) dropped a mention of a sea serpent when he wasn't supposed to.  I bet it's in part 3.

Maybe killer clams do. Maybe fantasy clams do. Who knows, seems like a very minor nitpick though . Clams are often show with pearls.

Maybe this carnivorous fantasy species makes them to lure in prey like foolish treasure seeking divers. is amazing what made up species can explain away

Considering that the largest creatures tend to be at the greatest depths, it may also be a glowing lure of some sort.

Very true, use it to draw something in range of the snapping shell in that deep abyssal darkness

And then the epic fight of kraken trying to get his tentacles out of a killer clam

And I'd like a nice, big mantis.

I would personally like some 1/1 scale earwigs and silverfish in Bonesium.

At the usual 1"=5' scale, those would be some pretty creepy crawlies.

Hmmm. Something about that clam seems familiar...

Yep. I think my dad dragged us kids to see this many decades ago. Even if I don't have a gaming use for it I might have to see if I can make as diorama with some bored kids looking at it.

Looks like the Dark Depths Exp. isn't for me either, too many fish and Merfolk.

Getting those Brine Goblins eventually though.

Archon Studio (LOAD, Vanguard of War, Chronicle X) are branching into modular terrain. The project is now Live:

Apparently it is "full plastic injection" so not the same as their minis. The concept seems interesting, but the preview page is far from finished, so it's hard to get a good grasp on prices (one "Starter Pledge" for $49 is all they currently have listed, along with a $20 add on). The whole magnetized modular wall system looks like it could have potential.

      About
Digital render of the finished sculpts. In the last six or so years I have played a lot of tabletop games, ranging from Warhammer and Dungeons & Dragons to smaller games like Frostgrave and Relicblade. I have fallen in love with the hobby of painting miniatures and everything surrounding it. A year ago I made plans to give something back and to add something to this hobby community I love so dearly.
My background in digital game art helped me a lot since I was already familiar with the software to sculpt digitally. So I started working on a few miniatures I would like to produce. Most of them were abandoned in favor of better ideas, but eventually I created this set of three goblins. These goblins are each embodiments of the archetypes found in many of the games I love: the wizard, the fighter and the thief/ranger.
I spent the last year figuring out how to cast resin to the standards I saw in the products I enjoy and how to make sure digitally sculpted details translated well to the tabletop scale.
These three figures are the end result of that progress, but hopefully the start of a lot more.
I made this Kickstarter to cover the costs of the materials used and shipping, but mostly so I can bring these little goblins to your tabletop :)
All miniatures will be multiple parts cast in resin and supplied unpainted, with a 25mm gaming base.
      The final resin casts.

      KICKSTARTER: Tales from the Catacombs

They drag their feet one in front the other, deliberately, slowly. They  crawl out of their resting grounds. Out of the tombs to the fresh air,  slowly, unrestained.
Scylla Models is back presenting you a new range of Villains and Undead monsters for your collection. The models we present you are master casts  white metal (primed white for better result in the pictures), with the only exception of Zuula. She on her Night Terror is our first large monster and we decided to go resin. The results are quite impressive as you might see in the picture.
