My partner was vague enough that I have all the options to consider, which will take a while.

Decisions are hard.  I've got a core idea, but I need to figure out details.

I thought "paint almost anything" was the norm given my past experience.  I can only think of a couple of times where I've even been given a basic theme.

Received my Reaper order on Thursday for my partner and have started on mold lines.

Got my order in and hopefully I will be able to start working on painting within the next few days.

New minis are primed.  now to find all the mold lines I missed the first time

I delayed ordering until BF when the Sophies dropped.  My recipient's gift stuff is out for delivery already today!

 

I had previously chosen a mini to paint from one that I bought at ReaperCon.  I got it mostly assembled, prepped and based before the Thanksgiving Binge challenge started.

 

Tonight I'll double check for mold lines, wash it, and then prime it along with a batch of scenery pieces I have in the airbrush queue.

 

So, I have a question.  The mini I'm painting has a long weapon that extends way out past the base that would be risky to ship.  I'm thinking of drilling/pinning the joint, painting that hand/weapon separately, and shipping it in 2 pieces for my recipient to glue together on arrival.  Is that ok, or should I try to find a way to package it securely?

I went to the post office with my recipient's package today and was shocked when I arrived a 3pm and there was NO LINE. The package is on it's way.

I have selected, cleaned and primed a figure.  If weather predictions are correct I will have time to paint very soon now.

I went ahead and glued my guy together and zenithal primed him.  Also primed his plastic sculpted base and drilled/pinned, but didn’t glue him down yet.  I should be able to start painting this weekend.

 

He’s monsterish, so it shouldn’t take me 2 weeks to get the eyes and face looking not-crap before I can get started on the rest.

Here's to vacation and time for some painting!  Actualky my Secret Sophie painting is done and mainly needs a base.  Then onto what's next!

I'm so late starting!  I feel guilty, even though I knew I was probably not going to be able to get it painted by Christmas, the expectation is that it's sent out by late January, etc.  My bits arrived Thursday, though, so I hope to start Monday!  I could use a break from Christmas prep.

I got paint on the mini today!  I did the face and basecoated a couple of the major colors to make sure they’re going to work.

80% done. I just need to touch it up some and then base it. Should be finished over the holidays and sent out early January.
