I'm not sure if it lets you use existing Infinity Miniatures, but presumably it does as the unit types in the reinforcement packs are consistent with Infinity unit types - the reinforcement packs look like they may be a mix of existing and new sculpts, but I'm not 100% sure on that. They are probably optional because backers were asking for miniatures that fit in with their faction, as the original project only has miniatures for a couple of the factions. The price looks about right for the contents

I spent some time watching some of the videos last night.  Some of them are pretty long!

 

The Outcast expansion that was unlocked a few days ago brings existing Infinity factions into the game, and it includes a few.  Some of the SGs unlocked since have been cards to support using other existing Infinity units in Outcast as well.  They’re offering the Reinforcement Packs for those who don’t already have those units.  People that already have the minis can just use them with the cards included in the expansion.

 

Looking at pricing for the reinforcement packs, it seems pretty good.  Miniature Market pricing for the same pieces seems to be about $70.

Reinforcement packs seem interesting... No HaqqIslam yet though.  Nice to see at a casual glance they aren't just starter sets plus an extra mini or two.   I do wish I could go in on this, but yeah, kind of spent spare money on other things...

HaqqIslam might get added before the end.  They seem to be working through the factions now.

 

I’m assuming the mechanics they use in Infinity are going to be translated over to the new format.  Would you recommend any of the unlocked packs from a gameplay/lore perspective?  Some of them look pretty cool, but maybe I shouldn’t just choose based on that!

The mechanics in Defiance are pretty much taken from their Aristeia game (a 2 player arena battle more or less).  Infinity itself is a much more complicated system.  As far as the reinforcement packs, I'd only recommend them if you're truly interested in playing Infinity itself (or just want the models for painting).  Otherwise, all the cards are included in the core game or the Outcast expansion and you can simply proxy other miniatures.  Infinity models are not cheap, but the reinforcement packs are running about 50% off MSRP.

 

For me, I'm likely to spend quite a bit on this campaign.  Just haven't decided how much yet.

Well, I'm in at the platinum pledge level.  Not sure if I''ll splurge on any reinforcement packs.  Maybe one or two.

Same here - doing Platinum and planning on maybe 2 reinforcement packs mostly to get cool minis to paint.  I’m also thinking of getting one of the Infinity starter sets to dip a toe into the Infinity main game - Red Veil or Coldfront maybe.  If I do that now, that will help me decide which packs to add on.

 

I see Haqqislam is coming in one of the upcoming unlocks now.

I'm still on the fence.  it's not knocking my socks off and is a bunch of money.  i didn't get a chance to play the demo at gencon, but i have player aristesia - sort of unimpressed with the game setting (pro combat sports), but it was mechanically ok.  I've got a couple days left to stew on this.

Yes, and Haqqislam is actually the one I'm most excited about.  But I have a feeling one of my friends will love JSA.

I haven't had time to closely look at this, but having just got a starter for Infinity, and really liking the figs, I figured I'd back it.  I've enjoyed playing Mercs: Recon a number of times, even though I still haven't taken the plastic of the MERCS rulebook so I figure this could be similar in terms of actually getting to play.  I'm guessing they will have a pledge manager so I can figure out what else I might want later?

Hmm.  Sounds like I'd be able to up my pledge in PM too, I'm guessing.  I'll have to look and see.  Only worry is January means that's right around floating doom temptation island time (aka CAV dropship time).
