I painted several of them, but not those two (I think)  it has been decades.

When I painted the grenadier dragons I did a basecoat and black-wash combo.

at the very least I would now also add highlights. / drybrush

On some dragons, you can get away with that still.  such as those with small /round scales. (brass dragon image)

On others its really better to do each scale individually.  (image 2, Sea dragon)

I normally shade the deeper part of the scale darker then change the color as I move out.

I always seem to fiddle with the wings.

I've never seen these dragons before, but with the keywords "spectral" and "shadow" you could do a lot worse than search the show-off forum for ''nighthaunt.' Great inspiration for ghastly and insubstantial stuff by some very talented painters.

Welcome to the Forum!

Ah, these bring back memories, I grew up with Grenadier minis!

These are the originals and such some people collect them.

On the other hand many molds are now in the possession of Mirlinton Miniatures in Italy who sells them in their own boxes these days.

That being said, I always loved this range.

First of all clean them and remove the mold lines with a sharp hobby knife.

I recommend primer. A nice white or black ( depending on your own preferences) primer, you can either use brush on or spray can.

Let dry and then you can go to town!

Here are some nice vids to help.

And do browse through this forum, The Show Off thread has many dragons!

Here's one of mine,

If you also look at the WIP for that it might give you a few ideas.

Sadly, I can confirm that the Mirlinton version of the Spectral Dragon II does not come with the female magic user that the Grenadier version has.

I will also note that, at least for the two versions of that dragon I have, that the side halves of the dragon do not quite fit together perfectly, and will require a bit of work to fit together cleanly.

Only the original Grenadier sets had the wizards/humans/familiars that went with the Dragons, Mirlinton only has the dragon molds.

Older sculpts like Grenadier and Ral Partha often need work to make the halves fit well.

I once did the Chessplaying Dragon from Ral Partha and had to fill in a gap in the body so large that I basically resculpted it.
