NOVEMBER 28th.

Do you keep all of your painted minis or do you sell them /give them away?

I have sold lots of minis over the years.

I also like to send ( forum) friends painted ones sometimes or give some away.

Right now the ones belonging to my great projects will stay with me.

But when the armies are big enough and I have had them for a while, who know where they might end up?

A simple answer really.

I rarely get rid of anything, no matter what. My dad was exactly the same.

Kind of pain when it comes to moving.

Right sorry about that. It seems I posted a question and forgot to hit submit reply...

I used to paint to sell. That's why I don't anymore. Now I keep most of them. Some get lost. Others get given away.

I do some exchanges, so those go away.  And my wife has a fig or two that I've painted for her.

Other than that I have them all.

I've given away some unpainted stuff I know I'd never get to, and sold a bit.

Even ran a contest a few years ago and gave away a bunch of stuff.  That was super fun but shipping is so expensive....

I keep all mine.

I did sell one on Monday (An ambulance driver who came to the house to take my housemate into hospital was totally fascinated by my collection, and wanted one as an ambulance mascot, I tried giving it to them because they were awesome, but he insisted on paying), but that was an unusual circumstance so I don't think it counts.

Don't feel too bad; re, I could have sworn I answered a question earlier today...whatever day it is. AND I was incredibly witty...this is probably yet another sign of imminent senility.

Yes, I definitely do.

To be more specific: I have sold minis, done commissions, given them away, AND kept the ones that weren't sold, done as commission, or given away.

The one's I have kept I am looking to sell or, more likely, give away.

If you send someone minis, how do you pack them to protect them from damage during shipping?

I've never sent individual minis by post, but I imagine it would be a combination of tissue paper, bubble wrap, styrofoam pellets and a padded box.

I've painted minis for friends, but those ones were specifically painted to order. I can't imagine anyone actually wanting to buy something I painted for my own amusement. I've been told I stick to my favourite colours too much

I have painted minis for friends and I have painted friends' minis but my own...  I have held on to them.  No interest in selling them.  I could give them away I guess, but to date I've not had a good reason to.

Where is today's question?

The Spectral Turkeys of Thanksgiving Eve had it treed for most of the night. Once dawn came, it's sanity was shattered and local authorities found it wandering the streets speaking in tongues and attacking anything it thought had feathers. Currently it's sedated heavily in a padded cell.

I tend to buy certain minis with the idea of gifting them out. Mouslings especially with pirates running a close second.

I paint too slow to sell things. I’ve given a few away, as part of exchanges or presents, but not many. If, at some point in the fantastical far flung future I decide I have too many, I may try to sell them.

The ones I don't keep go to my brother, who is my only patron these days. We do a barter system: he pays for the models and whatever materials are needed plus a few paints/brushes/etc in exchange for my time. Apart from him and one model for a friend, I've never painted for anyone else. If it weren't for my brother, I wouldn't have much urgency to complete anything. My production rate is going to tank if he ever quits playing games...

I'd love to do one of the mini exchanges one day, I'm just not financially stable to afford doing those things yet.

I do sell stuff that I'm no longer satisfied with, it gives me an absurd amount of pride that anyone should pay real money for anything I have produced.

Oh yes, and ALL the money I have made selling figures get used to buy... more figures and paint!
