Thank you very much.

A distinguished paint job for something that usually appears in mobs and is dispatched quickly. I second the compliment on the shield, and the lighting on everything works just right. I've never wanted to get to know a skeleton before.

I was shooting for a bit of a Harryhausen vibe.

How weird, I just passed up a copy of Clash of the Titans at Goodwill yesterday. Shoulda snagged it.

I have been agonizing over my bone colors lately. Your Deadite Lad is a SPLENDIDLY  painted Old Bone. Your colors & base are LOVELY as well. VERY WELL DONE!

I am glad you like him. Thanks for the kind words.

I love it, that base suits him well!

Good bone and rust.

One minor nitpicking, touch up the rim of the base, either black or an earth colour, but there are stains on it and that's bringing a great piece down.

@Glitterwolf yessir. After posting the pics I noticed it, and went and painted it a nice flat black. It's amazing the things you don't notice in person, but really pop in a picture.

Yes pictures are ruthless!

I like how you called it a simple base while it's an excellent little piece.

Gravestone, some fallen leafs, a unit with bases like that would stand out!

@Glitterwolf it really was simple though. Just a Sculpey gravestone I had laying around broken in half and some Apoxie Sculpt topped with blobs of resin sand built up around his broccoli base. The hardest task was making him fit on a 1" base, since I always prefer a bigger base :D.

This is one I've had "in progress" for ages. I finally mustered the courage to tackle all the eyes and then had fun with drool!

Just thought i would put these up to show off the new party making their way through saltmarsh.  A party of six graduates from the civilized lands, roped into fulfilling a debt by their mentors.  At least they are working together...  they arent my finest work but for 6 hours of painting, they will do nicely for our little gaming group and the group enjoyed the surprise of coming to their second session to discover they all had custom painted minis!

      we have a Halfling fighter
an elven thief with a fixation for daggers
      a halfling bard
the blue dragonborn priest of Protos
the black Dragonborn warlock (had to create the head.  I couldnt find a dragonborn mini with an 8 strength...)
and a Human ranger from the backstreets and slums

hope you enjoy them, i dont know how long they will last....

      Here is my Callie.
I painted her as a second WIP for my BONES 1 attempts.
I really like the sculpt.  I painted her as a half-orc or orc.  She has some freckles, nice green gems, and some ivy freehand on the cloak.

Here is a link to the WIP.

      Enjoy.
      C&C Welcome.

Got this one done at a painting day in about 3 hours of work, but interrupted by cups of tea. :)

The biggest model I've ever painted, I worked on it in sections and then assembled it onto the base when finished. I made very minor modifications to Kalarax herself, mostly inserting a lot of brass rods to support joints, and using hot water to bend the tail around onto the base (which is 25 cm square!) There was a lot more work on the base, using rocks, grit and sand to meld the Bones "ruined temple" into a larger scene with common elements from my Vampire army (see sig below)

You may know the story of why the model is so big - apparently a communications error meant that it is twice the size it was ever meant to be? Because of this, I removed odd-sized base details like huge skulls and dinner plate coins and replaced them with "in-scale" objects like dozens and dozens of resin skulls as seen in the close up.

My "huge bony miniature" recipe is:
One can of Army Painter Undead Bone spray paint
A big pot of GW Agrax Earthshade (or similar brown wash)
A pot of Citadel Dry Tyrant Skull
      A large flat drybrush

Let the model to the work! You can also use this to paint large numbers of smaller skeletons, of course.
