You could look at the upcoming game Oceans from North Star Games for some inspiration. Pretty amazing artwork in there. You can look up their recent kickstarter for more images as well.

Thank you!

I will take a look.

I have a few aquatic minis from Reaper, BONES V will bring me more ( A lot!) and I backed Antimatter Games now for a Ninegill Shark and a Kronosaurus ( also a Spinosaurus but that one belongs in the Lost World).

More to come.

I always look at pictures of real animals, painted examples from others and fantasy artwork for inspiration.

So, as you all can see I decided to go for the Great White look.

QUESTION.

I'm not sure about the position on the base.

I have two options, which do you like best?

  1. Emerging from the water, tail is a bit in/over the waterline, so the waterpart is on the back of the base.
  2. Walking towards the water, giving more options to show off some shoreline/sealife.

Which one do you prefer?

I'd go for heading towards the water, maybe hang something from his right hand to show what he's gathered/hunted whilst out of the water?

Also, looking great by the way!

Thank you!

It was my first idea as well, but then I put him on the base the other way and started to doubt.

I'm more thinking he is going to hunt / fight something in the water.

I will have to give this some thought.

I was having some fun playing with green stuff and decided to revamp the base of this Goroloth. I scupted corals, tube sponge, starfish, and a deadly blue-ringed octopus! There's some pictures of the sculpts before trimming and painting also. :D

This is Marshalla Sylvie from Freebooter Miniatures.
In my Lost World she is Bonita, Half Pirate / Half Snake.

I gave painted her base as if she was on driftwood in the water.
Had fun with the Snake part and tried a little sheer on her blouse.

Finally finished my Kraken Diorama. Tough time lighting it sadly, to where it didn't glare >< but it came out pretty and it's done so I'm happy =)

Only way I would have really liked to make it better is to be able to put it in resin but that'd be a bit much lol

Most of my WIP is in my WIP thread, except that last stage where I added background panels (supposed to look like the sea under water, I'm not an artist lol)

I was hoping to put more fish in but it started getting a little busier than I liked, and plus it was quite hard to show details on all the fish as well as the Kraken so I just put enough in for interest.

Anyway, hope you like it =)

Hey all, I thought I'd share a little guide on how I converted two Weapons and Warriors pirate ships for gaming. These guys are usually for sale at a reasonable price ($25-30) on ebay as part of the W&W Pirate Battle game. They have the added bonus of coming with two smaller boats and lots of good extras like cannons and palm trees.

Here is the unmodified ship. First I clipped the little extra bits that are for the W&W game, and then I puttied over any gaps.

Then I gave the whole ship a couple of coats of brown primer. For terrain and other projects like this, I usually use Krylon primer. It does just fine when there is not a lot of small details to obscure. I primed the sails white. The main mast, mizzen mast, and bowsprit all detach.

I picked out some detail colors and painted the decks a lighter color. The ships turned out like this:

The two small ships and the two boats in the foreground are from W&W. The big ship in the back is a resin model.

If you are looking for some ships for your games, this might be the way to go!

      Hello!

I'm starting a new project, an underwater adventuring party. I've ordered a group of miniatures for it:

I've been mostly painting Games Workshop stuff for the last few years, so I'm hoping this will be a nice change of pace.
