CLEAR Colors

I'm slowly rounding out my Reaper Paints collection and I noticed the Clears are:

Yellow (Primary color)Red (Primary color)Blue (Primary color)
Green (Secondary color)Purple(Secondary color)...where is Orange?(Secondary color)
Magenta (Tertiary color)

Clears seem to account for all the Primary and Secondary colors on the Color Wheel...except...Orange. Why???
I understand Magenta can be considered the real Primary color and not Red, which can explain why there are no other Tertiary colors available.
But no Clear Orange just seems wrong in light of what is available for clear.

Is there a color that is comparable to Clear Orange under another Non-Clear name?

Thanks! These may be trial balloons for Reaper to see the market for such colors.
I hope they sell enough of these colors that they continue to carry them.
It's a great idea to have these "traditional" colors that are from other companies like Golden or Liquitex for example.

Clear orange is currently a Special edition paint. Along with Clear Pthalo Blue and Clear Pthalo green, Clear Plum, and Clear Viridian.  Part of this is because of the size of the paint rack, some colors can't be in regular production, so the less popular ones are produced only occasionally.

Magenta is really treated as a primary because, honestly, it's better as a primary for mixing than red.

We are getting more clears in the kickstarter, thought they're not currently labeled as such. Anne has sad that the Ochre Yellow, Oxidized Red, and Oxidized Brown make up an 'earth clears' triad, which would fill the highly useful roles of Yellow Ochre, burnt Sienna, and burnt Umber in a split primaries plus palette.

I've been using the clear green in wraiths, and it looks fantastic IMHO!

I'll have to try that color sometime. Thanks for the heads up.

Thanks!

Somewhat related, I'd luv to see Anne do a video or series on different paint mixes...a sort of..."mixing this amount of ? with this amount of ? gives you this".

Reaper clears are nothing like GW Shades. The GW shades are washes designed to darken the paint below, and are a mix of pigment and extra acrylic medium. They are very transparent and a bit glossy, not very pigment rich and tend to be desaturated colors. Reaper clears are very pigment rich and have a more typical amount of medium for paint. They are not as transparent and work well as glazes, and can be mixed with other paints to change the hue. They are very saturated colors.

You could think of the GW shades as you would a pair of sunglasses, and the Reaper clears as those "secret decoder" clear red glasses you might have played with as a kid.
