I'm also in the gorgeous but too expensive camp.  I've still oodles of dwarven forge I don't use because it's a pain to haul around and setup.  For me, the utility : cost ratio doesn't pass muster.

I’ve experienced this feeling as well. I do like that they are doing bigger pieces since outdoor encounters are generally on a larger scale, but I know the weight of even the smaller pieces and I feel like a full encounter would require myself and another dude just to carry the tote of terrain in for use. I’ll probably end up doing one of the scatter scenarios so that I can sprinkle and mix it in with my terrain map books.

I was thinking that I would be most tempted by the Swamp biome since it is new, but adding the my cliffs may be what I end up primarily doing this time. Mountains as a biome are super useful in both outdoor terrain as well as cave builds. Forests are tempting too, but I will likely focus on one biome to optimize my funds.

This kickstarter is going crazy. Already over $2M! The highest DF Kickstarter total was $3.3M, so that seems more than possible at this point.

I guess the 2.5 was Canadian. I expect a lot of people are pledging big early. Hopefully they aren't phantom pledges to get unlocks. Looks like DF has a plan though, so they're just going to post dailies. 7pm ET if I remember correctly.

I wonder how long it will take to get a lull.

I may decide to pick and choose on this one.  There are some nice pieces and I love the woodland terrain I got from the last KS but the cost is rather extreme and each KS seems to get higher and higher  I bought into the second caverns for my 50th birthday and I am happy with it but I just don't know if I want to lay out that sort of cash for the trees.

Don't get me wrong, they are pretty and if they were about half what they are charging I would be very happy here, but at the cost/value point they have I just cant bring myself to spend the money.  I might pick up some scatter terrain for the alpine or swamp set to break up my existing forest but I don't think it will be much and I will probably just wait until it settles into their store.

Its sad that the value that was in KS1 and KS2 didn't carry into the later projects.  These are not expensive pieces to produce once the molds are made and I think they could give more of a break to their KS supporters.  The last I looked their KS prices are at the same point as their old dental plaster molds which were too expensive for me back in the day, so we are back to where we started.  nice pieces but too expensive to really get an encounter that would be fun to look at.

That and I have quite a bit of their material from KS1,2, city, and 4 to make me not really need new pieces.

However, their quality is really good and I like the pieces and I suppose if money were no limit, I would probably get more.

I went in for the “Explore the Forest” pledge as it comes with a variety of neat pieces and enough trees that I can make the terrain interesting on my battle map books and what not. I heavily considered just doing two of the $150 pledges but the $355 one comes with more varieties of trees so I opted for that.

my plan is to stay away from add ons or increasing my pledge so this’ll get me out with usable stuff but not drowning in it.

Stuff's expensive, but the "low cost terrain" niche is pretty crowded, especially with WizKids' dungeon sets.

If DF stuck to KS1 dungeon terrain, I'm not sure if they'd be in business a few years from now, not that their increased staff doesn't mean they have to keep having high sales.

It's like the light side of GW and Citadel paints... :ik_oops:

I have a buddy that has the Wizkids stuff and after handling DF and the Warlock tiles I have to say that the Wizkids stuff is just a cheap mockery by comparison.

My plan from the start has been to try and focus on vertical and waterfalls. Not sure where I will end up, but mountains are likely the most useful for me with my current collection and gameplay needs.

I just want a slew of nearly indestructible trees
