Question for December 5th: What is the most extreme example of scale mismatch between two figures in your collection of Miniatures?

A grenadier female dwarf mini from the early 80s and any current dwarf mini. Grenadier was supposedly 25mm and she is tiny, not much more toddler sized next to any of the newer ones.

I'm going to go with the cyber dog thingy I got in my 2018 swag bag sat next to Rauthuros.  That would definitely have a bit of an impact.  If not, second choice is the 28mm scale Dictator B next to a 6mm scale BattleTech tank...

I suppose I could also go with CAV Heavy Infantry next to my 1:48 scale A10 Warthog that I still haven't assembled *coughs nervously*... That hubby bought for my birthday eight months ago...

From the same company? For the same game?

I’d have to say the difference between the initial wave of minis that came in the boxed game for Sedition Wars and the later expansion waves for the addons from the kickstarter.

The minis from the later expansions were noticeably smaller and didn’t seem to match the sculpting style of the original minis.

Another example would be the minis for the Star Wars based game Imperial Assault. Scale is all over the place. Very disappointing.

The 25mm old Grenadier and Ral Partha minis compared to Reaper Bones minis come to mind.

I have the Ral Partha female genies, the Reaper Bones Black Genie is a Giantess compared to those.

Was really thinking “From any two companies, could be for the same game, meant to represent similar-identical  vehicles, figures, critters...”

Probably the difference from old school 25mm figures to the 'heroic' 28mm/32mm figures of today. Like Glitterwolf said; Ral Partha/Grenadier vs anything new by Reaper.

I have a few of the old lead figs, though not a lot, so I can see the scale difference everyone always talks about.  It doesn't bother me too much as it adds some variety to the table.  Not every barbarian need be 6'5" with an oversized head and hands.  For pure scale difference though, pretty much any gaming fig looks tiny next to a 1/8 scale kit.

Question for December 4th: Who here got in on Bones V? ...it counts even if you only pledged a single $1.

Yup!  the only one I've missed was 2 and I still regret that a little bit.  Was a little more controlled with the pledging but there's still many months to add stuff.

Some of my first pewter (lead?) minis I was given by my uncle from when he painted them as a teen.  Not sure of the manufacturer, but they were fantasy and the I'd say they were about 22mm, maybe a little less, but the humans were the same size as the dwarves and the elves...  some of them were "wider" but the height was very similar.  GW has some crazy scale issues, if you look at the fluff as a source.

I have never figured out what the limit is. :blush: But I fell asleep before I could post the question... :blush:

Question for December 3rd: How many times have you been snowed on so far this Winter?

We've had 4 storms that have dropped at least an inch (one did 10 inches) for a total of about 15" on the ground.  We've have several other dusters, that didn't amount to much.

Just as a point of interest I would note that there are several ways in which the seasons can be defined.  Astronomical seasons, based on solstices and equinoxes, seem to be the most commonly used.  But personally I prefer to use meteorological seasons, which are very simple and straightforward:

Spring=Mar-May

Summer=Jun-Aug

Autumn=Sep-Nov

Winter=Dec-Feb

(Of course they are the other way round for the southern hemisphere)

So by this definition winter in the northern hemisphere started a couple of days ago.

Here in MN we adjust that to

Spring= April (if we are lucky)-May

Summer= Jun-Aug

Autumn= Sep-Oct (if we are lucky)

Winter= Nov-Mar

Sometimes Winter starts in October and goes into April though, depends on the year.

I did.  I didn't just get in, I dove in without looking.  I bought in and sculpted for it...still sculpting for Bones V.  The endless engineering projects. Right now, I am actually sculpting bones for Bones V, seriously.

The old Ral Partha shadowrun minis seem to have some scale issues within the line. I know I've got some human figures from them that are roughly equivalent to the Reaper Chronoscope figures I currently use and some that are nearly half that size. I don't know if any of these have been re-scaled over time, or honestly, if that's even possible. Doesn't matter much though. My group isn't too picky about it. And about half of them are still using the older Partha figures because they're pretty awesome. That could become a problem in the future as my troll player wants to switch from the older, smaller troll he's using now to the cyber troll from the bones 4 Chronoscope expansion. And that thing is gigantic next to any RP minis I have.
