Nicely done! I love this mini, and you've really done great work with him. I love the weathering on him, and the colors in his armor look fantastic!

A fabulous paint job! The cape is excellent, but the freehand on the shield is quite amazing. I haven’t tried freehand yet, but if I do 10% as good as you, I will be happy.

Thanks guys, I'm glad you like it. It's the first time I try to paint an armor this way and I'm pleased about the result. It isn't too shiny, perfect for a veteran warrior.

As for the shield, I was going to paint two Fleur de Lys, and then decided to paint a boar head after looking at some inspiring heraldry symbols.

As I said on Facebook, I think you have done a great job and the added details like the claw marks on the shield are wonderful!

You captured the feel of a grizzled old Veteran from his unshaven face to his battered shield & his well worn armor. Your color choices make the miniature. WONDERFULLY WELL DONE!

Exceptionally good work on the armor and the clothes. I really love the look of the metal and how you achieved the clean lines of the bag and the clothes.

I am not entirely sold on the cloak, but I haven't figured out what bothers me, yet - and I absolutely can't get over his face. It immediately draws my attention and I think: Hm - this looks ... wrong somehow.

It looks a bit like a color variation of his tunic. Or an unshaven orc having a yellow fever rush. I simply don't like it. The execution however is really good.

Here is the Bones 4 version of the metal figure that sold as a single figure (referenced in tags). It was a challenge to work in the 5 main colours.

Here is the Bones 4 version of the metal figure that is sold as a single figure (referenced in tags). For my townsfolk set, I challenged myself by using the same base palette of 5 colours - ochre brown, German Field Grey, Burnt Red, German Med Brown, and German Cam Beige for each figure. Each figure will have elements of these colours.

Here is the Bones 4 version of the metal figure that is found in another townsfolk blister (referenced in tags). I continued to play with texture and also challenged my self to push the contrast.

This is the Bones 4 version of the metal one that is found in a 3-pack of townsfolk figures. I took the opportunity to do some experimentation with rendering texture.

So I needed a break from all the Bones 4 minis. And dug into the Bones 3 stash for variations sake.
I found one of my old modules -The Village of Hommlet, and spent some time reading. Ah, The Moathouse! Brings back memories!
And I got inspired to do the Bandits from the Bones 3 Stoneskull expansion, as they were similar in style to the ones I recently painted. And to flesh out the band, I added a couple of other Bones 3 minis that were in the same drawer, and that I thought might fit in a band of robbers.
      One quick paint job later:

This one is from the "Hobgobageddon" subset in the Bones 3 core set. At retail they are sold in packs of two and two different ones.
      77477: Hobgoblin Veteran
      Sculpted by Bobby Jackson
      40mm base.

Just add the bones 4 ones to this lot, and there we have a goodly group of bandits.  Or a unit of irregulars / rabble or whatnot in some wargame or other.
