Great job!

A brutal scene!

Now if you want to enhance the base, just use a little PVA ( white glue) and a toothpick to apply that on the black areas, then apply some fine sand or flock or static grass.

It will look even better!

I love it, very dark and gory, just as a Blackguard should be. Vip models are alway so cool. Do you know who sculpted it?

Thank you so very much! Had a hard time with the helmet area. Getting down inside was a tight pinch. The artist is B. Ridolfi.

Thanks! Glitterwolf actually thought about what dressings I wanted to use for the base. But quickly realized that the figures on the base had certain vital visual areas too close to the base like faces for instance. So in the end most grasses and other things l'd have to build up on the surface would cover up a portion of those sculpted areas. Unfortunately because of that decided to leave it blacked out which in turn helped the figures pop more. :)

Well, especially that bothers me, because without any structure on the base - just a black foundation, it looks unfinished to me (and it's even worse, because really springs into eye).

I understand your reasons for your choice, but I have to say: you really missed an opportunity there. A fine layer of sand had done the job already.

Hello fine fans and lovers of the Reaper Miniature World!

So today I've got two figures to post. I'd do them together, but different sculptors and different genres.

The first one is an old Julie Guthrie figure from the eighties, Woman Warrior With Two Swords.  I think she came in a box from the range "the Adventurers", which was full of female player characters.

      So here she is:

In one of Anne's podcasts, she was doing non-metal metal and I'd asked her about her base colors and she suggested more grey as opposed to a blue beginning, so with this figure and her metals, I started out with Rainy Grey instead of Ashen Blue which is what I normally use.  I think she came out pretty decently, even though of course I'm never satisfied with my own work.  Such is the curse of the painter....

Anyhoos, hope you enjoy her, a very fun and basic figure.  One of the reason I like old school minis as I've mentioned before.  She strapped on her armor, grabbed her blades and took off.  No ladening herself with bags, sacks and knick knacks.

If you are still waiting on your exchange mini, look at your own risk..sadly my photo skills are lacking in catching all the contrast he has..

This one was for a facebook competition about color. The rules were, basically, don't worry about anything else but color. Do something different with color. I started with the idea of a dress palette of blue, teal, purple, and magenta. Once I had those colors in place, it was a matter of incorporating them in different areas of the model. I went with cotton candy roses and a galaxy print on the wings. The galaxy was a matter of stippling the dress colors (plus a bit of white) back and forth until the effect was convincing. Then I masked the body of the model and flicked a stiff brush at the wings to make star patterns. I then went back to the dress colors and stippling to blend them in a bit. This was a blast to paint, because I've never really done anything like this before.
