The Ringtail Vixen

Recommended Posts

Your skin tones look really good! I think hitting the eyes would help make the face pop, which is where everyone's gaze is usually drawn.

Constructive Feedback: The entire mini has a lot of gloss sheen to it, and gives it more of a "plastic" appearance. On the skin and leather seems fine, but it registers oddly to me on the hair and cloth. If you have an anti-shine to nerf it down on some areas, to say a satin level, I feel it would improve the appearance overall.

The hair/fur looks fantastic! Great job!

Thanks for the feedback!

Sadly, even with my glasses on, I can barely see her eyes. I've put little dots of brown in roughly the right spots, that is (unfortunately) as good as it's going to get.

Yeah, my varnish is starting to act up again, one day I'll find a matt varnish that actually stays matt for the whole bottle.

What should I say? Well - she looks good so far.

But, tbh: pictures are too small - can't see anything.

?

She's the same size my pictures usually are, which puts her at about 50% larger than she is in hand.

Plus, at my painting level, there's honestly very little to be gained by zooming in any more.

Yes - and on my screen it's like I am looking at a 1/72 scale figure photographed from afar.

Those pictures are too small for me to give any usable advice or comment - which I always try to do.

Fingers, head and details are simply too small for me to see (which for example is not the case with Mr. Lovely locks or crowd-control girl, though the pictures are the same size, I can see way more details there, because the figures take up more space within the pictures).

Yeah, we had that topic a couple of times and I can tell you that I see it differently. And I told you that a couple of times.

I could gain a lot of information from it, especially things where I'd say: I want to see it close up to understand how this or that was painted so it looks the way it looks.

But - back to my former annotation: I can't see it, because when I try to enlarge the pictures, they get pixelated and I can't see a thing.

In this size, I just see that there is skin, which looks like skin, green which looks like green, a tail which looks like a tail, and leather boot-like boot things looking like exactly that. But nothing more.

And actually, that's not getting me anywhere, either. So that makes us both loose benefit from your work.

Presenting Angry Joe, the last of my Survivors from the Gigalion expansion from Kingdom Death. He believes the best defence against monsters is to wear a suit made of their skin.

Had a lot of fun painting this one, Gorm armour is my favourite set despite all the little details, now I just need to paint the Gigalion itself.

Presenting Skully, the third member of my Gigalion expansion from Kingdom Death. She likes skulls and has a pet rock.

I think this is the weakest of the Survivors, it's not a bad mini but it's a bit of an awkward sculpt that doesn't make a whole lot of sense out of context. Was still fun to paint though.

Presenting Lady Fancy Hair, my second Survivor from the Gigalion expansion from Kingdom Death, she's into whips and leather belts.

Had this one sitting unfinished for a while (I got burnt out painting her fancy hair), but as I currently have a renewed interest in my Kingdom Death stuff, I thought I'd try and get her finished.

Presenting the Cleric, part of the second Echoes of Death set from Kingdom Death, not sure why she has such a gruesome base insert, none of the others came with one.

Disappointingly, she looks pretty terrible in the piccys. Honestly, apart from her decidedly wonky eyes, I thought I'd done a fairly good job.

Presenting the Storm Knight from Kingdom Death.

Second time tackling this one (I like it that much!), I think I prefer my newer, colourful version but I still struggled to do a decent job on his cloud cape, I think it needs more time and effort put into it than I have the patience for.
