Rob Dean
After our game last week, I’m getting psyched up for some Stargrave, so I decided to try some scenery over lunch today. I still need to go over the creases with a marker. This is one of Dave Graffam’s “try this” free models. I haven’t had a need to build a card model in a couple of years, and this one was tricker than I was expecting. Number 2 will be easier, now that I’ve tried it. But springing the octagonally domed end cap onto the cylinder was more of a challenge that I was expecting in a give-away kit. (You can’t reach inside the sealed container to adjust anything—most of the buildings I have done are open at either the roof or the floor during the finicky stages.)

Moderator Chaoswolf Posted July 4, 2021 Moderator Share Posted July 4, 2021 Good work on both! This highlights something I really like about miniatures agnostic games: the lack of 'official' figures brings out a lot more imagination and creativity in people. Don't misunderstand me, though; I've seen some pretty cool examples of conversions for various Warhammer factions, too. It's just that when I think of Warhammer armies I already have a pretty good idea of what figures I'm likely to see. 3
Lidless Eye
I may have mentioned this before, but I expect any Chronoscope in Bones VI to be suddenly more popular than in previous Kickstarter projects, due to the influence of this game.

Well, there's likely still Chronoscope Bones 5 as the pledge manager is set to re-open tomorrow.

Apparently it is not in the 5.5 pledge manager. 7 hours ago, Inarah said: If Bones VI launches in 2022 and delivers in '23 or '24, I wonder if people will even still be playing the game. Considering Frostgrave is going strong after years and in a healthy 2nd edition that keeps winning awards, I think there's a decent chance. 3

Chris Palmer
Interestingly, the Bones 4 Chronoscope Expansion box is still available in the retail store, and in my opinion a better fit for Stargrave than the Bones 5 one is. https://www.reapermini.com/search/bones 4 chronoscope/latest/77961 We played the first official game of our campaign today, and did the Salvage Crew scenario. We had 5 players on a 3’x6’ table, and used two crashed ships. I had a great time playing, but had the inglorious result of my Captain being killed by a Hail Mary grenade throw in the last turn. So, I lost all my loot and experience and need to start over next time. On the up side, I guess it’s better to lose you Captain in the first game rather than a later one... Overview of the table. I started in the near lower table. My crew moves up toward a physical loot token, and my Mystic Captain projects a Holographic Wall to block enemy LOS to it. A Ryakan divebombs some enemy Crewmen A Horat (proxied by Reapers Giant Sloth) charges at my Code Breaker. Desperately my Captain uses Control Animal (having to sacrifice over half his hitpoints to make it work). My First Mate and Hacker discuss the intricacies of unlocking a physical loot token and bullets and lasers whizz around them. They were unable to figure it out before the game ended. Rob Dean
Apparently we could’t quite get the “locked” force dome marker to balance over the treasure on top of the ruins. I was unsurprised to find that several people had decided that laying down smoke screens with grenades was a good idea. I hope to have some better smoke markers made by next month. I note that the template is 4” in diameter, and that there is a Reaper plastic base in that size, so I have a few in my shopping basket. One of my runners had a brief moment of glory when he took out an opposing flamethrower man in hand to hand combat with just a knife. That player had heavy weapons as all of his specialists, so I was glad to knock one out with a “free” figure. With 700+ Credits in loot dragged off the field, I need to investigate upgrades before the next session. Thanks for hosting, @Chris Palmer
Brianuk
Had a real game of Stargrave on Friday. First in person game in about 6m. Table not as fantastic as the one just above! My crew mainly comprised Reaper Chronoscope metal minis or Bones USA with one from North Star and two from Scotia Grendel. I did the classic thing of forgetting lots of powers/guns/moves my team had, and we forgot to play the pirates rule. But still great fun and am looking forward to next time.
Rob Dean
What are the stacked containers? Some sort of kids magnetic construction things?

The stacked crates are Crooked Dice, and come cast in one piece like that (although they do singles as well). I'm trying to have Sci fi scatter in and around more archaic buildings and features.
