Reaper Bones 5: Enthusiasm and Commentary thread

@Ratmaster2000, is that from "Jason and the Argonauts"?

Clash of the Titans from the 80's (not that poor excuse they released recently). Harryhausen pulled off awesome stuff without CGI. Wish I had found a shot were Perseus was fighting the cerebus.

The preview of the cerberus definitely looked like it could use a bit more time in the oven. It's not bad, but lots of real estate that could be explored with textures.

Yeah, pretty bad.  They got personal. I hope Chris wasn't reading them.

As @Rainbow Sculptor told me after I read a bunch of the Catoblepas comments there, "we're artists, we all have Impostor Syndrome."  She's not wrong.

This makes super sad. The art you and other sculptors create bring joy (and sometimes terror, as a proper encounter should). Sometimes that joy isn't shared publicly, but it's there.

Since I started art-ing, I've gotten a lot more careful about saying why I personally don't like a thing, rather than attacking the thing. It's a little piece of the artist's spirit, and needs to be treated accordingly.

Have we discussed what the plural of "catoblepas" is?  Or what a group of them would be called?

Doug beat me to it. I was going to guess Catoblepodes.

Either that or "RUN AWAAAAAY!" which has the advantage of being easier to pronounce.

They also mentioned that there are more "encounter" bundles planned. A mixture of terrain and creatures to inspire encounters in TTRPGs

*covers wallet's ears* SSSHHHH, don't scare the poor thing! It's already been frightened enough!

Huzzah!

No, not at all.  I like constructive criticism; its the best way to improve.  I've been a tech writer for 30 years; I can handle critique. I figure if 50% of the people like something I did I've done a good job.

It's when they decide to attack the person instead of stating what they don't like that wears on one. I think the comment that really bit this time was the one where they asked if the dragon wolf and the catoblepas were make on take your kid to work day.  Ouch.

Ok, now that's just >heavily redacted profanity<. Seriously, I love the Wolf Dragon, and Catoblepas isn't my thing, but it's still a good sculpt. Ignore them some people are just toxic. I had a fledgling YT channel, pretty much gave it up, but every once in awhile an old vid gets a comment about how badly I suck, and so far, 100% of the time, when I go look at their channel, there's no vids on their channel. So forget about the haters.

I try hard not to publicly complain about sculpts that don’t appeal to me. It is enough that I quietly choose not to buy or paint them.

i don’t always succeed, and I hope the negative comments I do make are more in the form of specific critique, rather than general dismissal.

You should all feel free to call me on it when I slip.

They updated the core set image, and the Dungeon Dwellers image, finally putting in the forgotten 321 and the "work in progress" 345:

I was really hoping the succubus got put in there by mistake....Im fine if they take her out and put her with the rest of "the ladies"

Troll 315 of the Dungeon Dwellers also somehow got lost from his pack brothers in the core set (205-206)

I'm still calculating if I'm getting the Core and the DD. Core seems likely, I like a lot of the stretch goals especially. As many others have stated, I also like DD for the concept and it has great figures, but maybe too many adventurers or stuff I already have. The goblins and kobolds go neatly with the KS 4 ones, but I got extras of those kobolds and just painted 24 goblins. The mounted goblins are super cool though, so are the Orcs. But again, I just painted a lot of Orcs and I'm not sure those would go with them. The treasure dragon and the plague doctors are also nice as is the female halfling.

I'm lucky insofar as I only got two or three of the minis in the DD expansion during Reaper's giveaways, so it's not the end of the world if I back it. I'm still a bit on the fence about it, though.

I may wind up getting two of each siege engine, though. I haven't really used siege engines in the past, but part of that is because I didn't have them.

:angry:::(::unsure:

I had to pull Kevin away from them one day this week.  It wasn't pretty in there and he was fairly growly all of lunch.

It stinks when people have to try to out-do themselves on insulting the art work that a piece is by attacking the sculptor who created it.

I don't enjoy it when it spills over here as well as it has more than once.

Please remember to be kind to the artist.  Express your opinion without the attacks.

      Story
Depending on the amount of orders received for each project, delivery dates might vary. The initial shipment dates indicated are not final, and even though we're committed to giving all our customers the best service we can, sometimes the amount of orders received might make the final shipment date vary compared to our initial estimates. Please keep this possibility in mind before placing your order.
Regarding both the bundles and the stretch goals described above, no swaps of model of any kind are allowed. Therefore, please don’t ask us to swap any stretch goal with other add-ons or any perk models with other miniatures, because that cannot be done.
We created something for those who like to not take themselves too seriously, for those who would like to relax while painting - with less details, but by no means not enough of them - for those who love their minis with a side dose of cuteness overload and, finally, for those who might have children to introduce to miniature gaming, by giving all of these people something that players will love (or hate, as the case may be) no matter their age!
Wait a minute… delivery estimated after only two week after the campaign ends? A Greebo campaign?!
Oh yes, and here’s why: because we’ve started production already! We’re convinced that we can reach the campaign goal, at the least, and that’s why we started the manufacturing process of everything. Therefore, the second you complete your Pledge Manager (let us remind all of you, if you don’t complete it, there will be no shipment, so do it!) your package will be processed and sent, just like that.
We want to open and close this campaign in record time, and we’re confident that we can do it!

Kobolds Vs. Goblins is a game designed, tested, built and played by my son Max and me (You saw him in the video).  The concept was something we came up with for a contest on The Game Crafter using roll & write mechanics.  What we ended up making was a fast and fun game that can be played by people of any age.  It's quick and easy to learn and setup is as easy as opening the box.
Max and I decided that people shouldn't be forced to buy our game just to play it.  So, you are free to download the full color print and play version of the game using this link.   FREE PRINT AND PLAY  (including solo mode) You'll need 6 normal D6 dice and something to mark the paper.  (For prototyping, we used clear cubes, but pencil with eraser will work also)

I'll admit... I have no idea how those of you who share KS from others include all the details and fancy stuff. I clearly didn't do this correctly. Munchkin Metropolis traditionally does woodcrafting, and I've been very satisfied with the quality and production time that's come from my prior interactions with him. Figured I'd try and get the word out about his current KS, which he developed with his son.

      A message from Secret Weapon:

      Big news time everyone!
As many of our pledgers know, we need to adjust the Kickstarter - On the positive, we have a good amount of backers and we know that MANY of you are waiting to up your pledges. We have had a really positive response to the product itself, and lots of interest on the customer and retail side. We deeply appreciate this and your support.
BUT - we have a good amount of backers who are opting to wait on their $1 pledge. This is entirely our fault. We caused this when we locked our core offering behind stretch goals. There is no single item that is core. ALL the options are core. We made it so that many of you had to wait around to buy what you already knew they wanted.
That's a big boo boo, but it was made with the best of intentions. The system was set up so that there was no mandatory amount, and you added what you wanted and nothing more. We thought that this was better for the customer, but it quickly became obvious the vast majority of backers want jump-in points at set amounts like a usual KS... and weren't entirely sure about a pledge manager that was open during the campaign.
So, what are we going to do to fix this for you?
We are going to close the campaign, and relaunch it next week. That sucks and it's embarrassing. But ultimately everything else that happens is great for EVERYONE, because this is what happens next:
1.) ALL themes will be shown and unlocked right off the bat. If you want Urban Streets or Infinity, you just go get it, no hoops or delays to choosing what you want. You also know exactly what is on offer.
2.) There will be pledge levels: $50(+), $100(+) and $200(+). The 100 dollar + level will include a set of 3 weathering pigments (really really good ones too - Burning Sands, Dark Earth, and Rust Orange), and the 200 dollar + level will be the pigment set, and a set of 3 genuinely awesome paints. Secret Weapon's Rubber Highlight, Rubber and Tire Black, our most popular colors! At the end of the campaign you will use the Pledge Manager, as usual, to make whatever specific choices you want based on your KS pledge. The Pledge Manger will be available during the campaign for those that would like help figuring out a total pledge level, but that is optional, and you can wait until the end of the campaign to sign up.
3.) Each of the $50(+), $100(+) and $200(+) pledge levels will have 3 shipping zone options
      Americas, Europe (NOT UK)
      AU, NZ, Asia, Pacific
      United Kingdom (NOT Europe)
4.) Any extra themes that are developed during the course of the KS will be added immediately, no stretch, we just give you the option as soon as it is available.
There will be 17 themes live at the time of launch, which doesn't count the licensed product from Corvus Belli and CMON Zombiecide.

Saw this mentioned in one of my feeds this morning. Looks quite interesting and is already very funded, with a load of stretch goals unlocked
