Must be a cultural thing, to me ghosts are relatively white with maybe a hint of blue and I've even gotten the question if it's some sort of poisonous ghost with the green translucent ghosts from my players in the past.

Steven King made his ghost light green and started a trend.

Yeah, much as I want to put a top hat (and monocle) on the Catoblepas, I'm not getting the same urge for this guy.

Well, now all I can see is her dancing around with a top hat!

If you're doing short sessions and only rarely, CO2 can be a good choice for some folks. But it's expensive and has real problems with adiabatic cooling* when you use it, though.

* As the pressure in the can drops, the can cools very rapidly, causing a major pressure drop. This can be ameliorated to some extent at least by putting the can in a bucket of warm water when it gets cold or keeping it in warm water while you use it.

Good advice, I wish I had known that when I had been using the Citadel Spray Gun.

Tried to shrink the image of the Falling Star from Wizkids, but I don’t think it worked as it’s a few inches shorter than Reapers ship.

Still. An interesting comparison.

Reapers ship sure looks pretty nice next to it.

I would rather have the Reaper version, it has safety rails.

Now that I think about it a little more...  I agree, dancing with a good sized top hat.  Don't know if I'd want to add a vest in there though, since I'd rather not hide the armour plates but hmmmmmm.  We shall see if top hats on minis become a thing for me in 2021 *laughs nervously*

Ooh this spider will go well with that earlier encounter.

OOooooooh, now that you mention it...  Oh my, that'll be a nice encounter to say the least.  Poor poor tasty halfling appetizer....

If people do them I'll still award their badge for it, but I've stopped encouraging people to do them so I cut it off at Ma'al and have been low key since.  This all started to show that Kaladrax wasn't so scary and grew from there, but Kaladrax was a $10 add-on.  Khanjira wasn't expensive either.  But as big pieces get bigger, and pricier, it was clear to me after Ma'al Drakkar that the choice becomes either halfway killing oneself for a decent paintjob, or doing it really sloppy to finish in time.  Ma'al retails at $150 US - that's a big purchase to expend for a small signature jpeg.  I think at this point it's best if people put real time into the big and fancy stuff, make it worth their while.  I expect the pirate ship will be pretty pricey as well.  There's nothing stoppng anyone from painting it as quick as they like, I just don't want to encourage people to burn up their fancy expensive minis for no real gain - or to nearly die trying.  It's a nice ship, take your time and show it some love.

That makes sense, both for starting and stopping.

But I did find them really inspirational. I only started hanging out on this forum at all because the challenges were such a compelling concept. It also gave me a great excuse to paint DDS; not only did I have much more fun doing it with the constraints than I would have otherwise, it actually got done instead of sitting half-finished for years. It also got me in the habit of painting for a good long time, which meant that much more than just the challenge piece got finished.

So, not arguing with anything you said, but I really hope you don't think they were a waste. At the cost of a few pixels, you got me doing more and better work, and enjoying it much more, and I doubt I'm alone in that.

@fectin A few of us started a much more low-key challenge and used some of the @buglips*the*goblin wisdom regarding cost and enjoyment. The recommended dragons on the Rainbow Dragon Challenge are $20-30 retail, and the challenge is on color selection. I don't think I'd do a goblin challenge because I don't enjoy painting big things that fast, and I wouldn't want to spend a ton of money to do a fast paint job.

Rainbow spiders up next? This one seems big. I just derp-painted my cave spider from Bones IV (practicing fodder for airbrush). This one must be erm.... much bigger. Double the diameter?

That boot looks eerily familiar, but I don't recognize the pirate flags next to it....  Is that the one in Edmonton, or somewhere else?

Yep!::):

Rainbow Spiders? @Pezler the Polychromatic what kind of spell were you using?

Portal to the Plane of Radiance. Sometimes things skitter out.

Pixies, Wyrms, Demonicity – Three Mini Role-Playing Games

Three ready-for-adventure mini-game boxed sets for your RPG game night, featuring the Tri-Stat System used in BESM Fourth Edition RPG.

If you're looking for role-playing games that are concise enough to crack open and start playing right away, yet sufficiently robust and evocative to support longer campaign play as well, you've come to the right place.

Welcome to the Kickstarter for the first three Tri-Stat System Mini-Game Boxed Sets – a new line of compact and complete role-playing adventure games that are compatible with Dyskami Publishing's flagship BESM Fourth Edition anime and manga RPG. Tri-Stat System creator Mark MacKinnon has distilled and customised the complete system into distinct streamlined versions for each of the three adventure games – targeting their specific genres and background settings in easy-to-understand boxed sets.

Pixies, Wyrms, and Demonicity – it's time for your next great role-playing adventure!

Pixies, Wyrms, and Demonicity – These boxed set RPGs are games of adventure, exploration, battle, heroism, romance, and imagination. Yet unlike in a traditional board game, the possibilities for exploration and action in these role-playing game are endless.

Each of the three role-playing adventure games contains the following components:

a 32-page full-colour rulebook that gives your group everything you need to play, with sections on character abilities, magical spells/paranormal powers, weapons and equipment, enemy encounters, items and equipment, and guidelines for integrating the Tri-Stat System game with the compatible BESM Fourth Edition RPG
6 brief story scenarios so you can start playing adventures right away
6 pre-generated player character sheet handouts, with game stats and illustration
4 custom-etched dice specific to that boxed set

You can pledge for one, two, or all three of these boxed sets during the Kickstarter.

      ...

I know know nothing about these creators or the system, but I decided to back for Pixies entirely because of that picture of the corgi. 👀
