Reaper Bones 5: Enthusiasm and Commentary thread

As a cross-over gamer myself, I would very much love it if Reaper put out variant sculpts for more of their assorted troop/race types, but I suspect that there is a rapid point of diminishing returns once the pure RPG-players and the hobby painters are satisfied. You (usually) really only want 5 or more different poses if you're trying to build whole units.

I figure a good point is 4-6 variants.   Enough variety for unique models in skirmish games like Frostgrave & ASoBaH, and even enough for people who don't mind duplicates in larger units, but not so many that they have to sell them in all or nothing unit packs to make any money with them.

Did somebody say flumphs!?!?!?!?

No! No one said flumphs! There are no flumphs allowed in this thread! Keep those poly-colored, probably translucent moldd flumphs to another expansion!

Okay, what color do you want your flumphs in?

Here’s hoping the Elf Rangers gets divided into their own set when they break up the Core, and not put in with a bunch of random other dudes....  And that goes the same for all the other 5-man sets in the Core.

Maybe if Reaper sees how many of those 5-man sets sell to the wargamers among us, they’ll get the idea that they’re a viable option and do more in the future.

Agreed.  If they have to get grouped with something else, let it be the Dark Elves or the Grave Kings - something else usable as a group by wargamers.

There are currently 10 IMEFs in Bones. One, Reggie is a heavy gunner, but if you just put three of the other figs into a pack like the Nova Corps 3 Bones for $6.99, they could use existing product.

And I love the idea of crew packs as an add-on

The plastic multipart sets I have purchased from the Perrys, Warlord, and other manufacturers average around 1 to 2 dollars  a mini with 5-8 poses in the kit. I don't think we will see the combination of quality, variety, and affordability we saw in Wargames Factory products, as (IMO) they cut their margin a little TOO deep. I don't know the numbers, but it seems to me that a multipart set of 20 with 5 - 8 body types could be done in Bones Black for 40$ or so.

I have definitely repurposed a few Bones for KoW.

Oh for sure, I'm not saying Reaper should cater to wargamers. I'm just saying I think there is more crossover than people think, and that I've found all the Bones KSs useful as primarily a wargamer. I tend to like mixed model units for all my evil armies anyway. Matchy matchy is for the good guys. But you can still use Bones for characters, even in the good guys.

Some sort of pumpkin beholder for the Core set.  Didn't catch a screen shot of the concept art.

I did not hear that as "Core Set", I heard that as "will (probably) become a mini at some point."

Today they were definite about it being added to the core set, so either I misheard yesterday or they've changed plans.

There are enough popular sci-fi tropes out there that could be compiled into a themed sci-fi expansion like that - take the tramp starship crew idea, for example. Dark Matter, The Expanse, Firefly - heck, even the Millennium Falcon to some extent.  Have a set that is a crew, some equipment from their starship, some law enforcement/authority like figures, some aliens and a small group of adversaries.  Probably wouldn't be as popular as the CoC expansion, but I bet it would do better than the B4 Chronoscope Expansion.

Tim Prow did a KS exactly like that recently, I backed it. Let me see....   https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/diehardminiatures/diehard-miniatures-law-and-disorder

Good stuff.  His 2nd project is up and running another 16 days.

      Story
It was the Baron himself who nailed up the poster in Midlam the town square.
WANTED:  LADY WILDWOOD and sundry associated gang members - For Murder, extortion, petty theft and highway robbery.  REWARD - 10 Gold Coins for Lady Wildwood and 1 Gold Coin per gang member.
Speculation and rumour was rife!  Who were these new Bandits that were plaguing Midlam?  Who was the mysterious and dangerous Lady Wildwood? It seemed that the town had been under siege, first from Captain Grief's Gang and then the Hobgoblin Rainding Party, and now this gang of merciless women!
Bounty hunters muttered in dark corners of Inns, looking for information and squads of Town Guard regularly marched out into the surrounding countryside in their pursuit.
But still the robberies and raids continued...
      Waylaid by Bandits Volume Two
A gang of eleven 28mm scale bandits, thugs and ruffians, lead by the Notorious Lady Wildwood, for all of your fantasy miniature games.
      Waylaid by Bandits Volume One
You can also, should you wish, include our first bandit gang with your pledge.  Captain Grief's Gang is a series of of eleven 28mm scale bandits, thugs and ruffians, including the original stretch goal 'George the Grind'.  You could then mix and match your bandits or have them as deadly rivals!
      Waylaid by Bandits Volume One

It's only an 11 day  project, so hury up and back.

Tomb Guardians over the past year has been asked to release our miniatures in a resin/plastic material because a lot of you do not like metal.  So for nearly a year we have discussed and researched the best way to produce a high quality, high detail miniature that is far above the current standard on the market.  We are happy to announce that we have found a method and decided to release all our 28mm monsters in a High Resolution Resin.  These miniatures will come with a 1 year guarantee, if you break one we will replace it for FREE!  Just mail it back to us.   Bobby Jackson, Jason Weibe, Gene Van Horne and Patrick Keith help create these amazing creatures.  We hope you enjoy our Monsters and want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
