They could potentially also do a one-off "Just a ship" Kickstarter when they have it more ready-to-go, if it isn't quite ready now but could be in a month or two. But I do think that either cancelling it, or doing a Just a Ship KS, will hurt this one. They hyped it too much, and let fans continue to flame it.

I was think the same thing, that the ship is probably deserving of its own kickstarter.

Yep taking it out of this kickstarter is going to hurt and give them grief from backers, but’s it’s going to be a lot worse if they stick with it and put out crap.

And I don’t think Reaper gave themselves enough time between the two kickstarters to come to terms with the Bones Black material, and just what it’s strengths and weaknesses are when it comes to gaming miniatures.

I think Reaper needs more time for planning what will be built in what material, I think the sculptors need to be more familiar with the properties of Bones Black, and I think the manufacturer that Reaper is using for Bones Black needs to be made to understand just who they are making these miniatures for and what is expected from them.

People on Twitch questioning and complaining about the amount of assembly required.

If the hobby is going to advance then there is going to be more assembly required as time goes on due to the increasing complexity required by the improved levels of detail on the individual figures necessitating more advanced casting techniques.

People need to increase their assembly skills in the same fashion as they have increased their painting skills if they want to keep up with the ever advancing level of complexity.

Agreed completely - folks, we can assemble our own models, it's not that hard!  We don't need to be paying underprivileged Chinese kids pennies per hour to do it for us :P

Besides, the assembly is part of the fun of this sort of hobby, at least for me!

And, Reaper's models have nothing at all on those old hard plastic Japanese historical military ship, armor, and airplane model kits I used to build when I was a kid - those things came with booklets of detailed instructions, and were loaded with bits you could barely see, had to be held with fine-tip tweezers, with elaborate instructions for using a needle and thread to reproduce realistic sailing ship rigging, and in a couple of cases even came with spools of wire and the parts for you to build your own motors to motorize the things with!  If you were lucky, those detailed instructions were in a language you could read and write - I spent one summer at age 12 or so, with a stack of multi-language instructions for other, similar model kits for use as "Rosetta Stones" for translation, trying to build a model kit whose instructions were entirely in Japanese, with incomprehensible illustrations and diagrams, and parts that were in no way intuitive to assemble together....

I don't mean to sidetrack onto a "Back in My Day, You Got Off My Lawn When I Yelled At You" story - those ultra-fiddly and complicated Japanese model kits were fun.  What I'm getting at is that these Reaper models are pretty easy to assemble, even the Stygian Barge.  If you can paint this stuff, you can assemble it even more easily!  :)

I am firmly in the 'assembly is half the fun' camp too, but I do get where people who just want minis to game with are coming from.

I use the minis for gaming. I don't mind the assembly of the bones/bones black figures.

I started painting in Junior High, with Warhammer 40k minis. Folks need to get over having to assemble minis.

Frankly, I don't mind assembling, but the latest Warhammer stuff is a bit too much for me.

Bones assembly? I can take care of that!

If they were to do "Just a Ship"  it could have Expansion Style add-ons of different era crew, different "set dressing" details to change the era of the ship, etc.

Each change of crew / ship dressing, etc. to be a different expansion.

The problem with not coming through with the ship information today has several problem issues:

1. Reaper's habit of trying to be "cute" and tease about upcoming stuff.

2. One of the senior people should have come on the show to explain, not leave it up to Jon and Sadie.

3. Poor planning causes a lot of folks to hedge their bets.

4. This is gonna really feed the trolls, I am trying not to be one myself at this point.

If it wasn't for the Dark Depths expansion and me being loyal...I'm almost considering cancelling after all the hype about the ship and now this....almost...

I know I'll stay in for the rest, but I'm not really happy with this.

TBH, that makes it look as if the Chronoscope expansion is going to be scattershot again.

I suppose it's possible Reaper have been on the fence about whether to downsize the ship since the lukewarm reaction from some of the fans, and at last decided to give it a redesign at a smaller size - which might be better for the Kickstarter and for the customers in the long run, if I'm at all right.

Gosh I hope not. I've got 27 square feet of playable table space. I'm planning on getting 2.

How would that work though?  Would anyone bid for just a ship in a KS?
Perhaps if they did a fleet?

If anyone is complaining about assembly to you in person refer them to some of the non-automotive kits put out by Revell.  Even with English Instructions and diagrams drawn by American Draftsmen some of them were very "time consuming", such as the Space Station models.

The wizkids boat comes pre painted and is a more playable and manageable design.  Reaper has to beat this and keep the price down in order to get sales.  Otherwise people will shop at Walmart...I mean wizkids.

The Nolzur's line is also releasing an unpainted version of the ship.  It is up for presales at some sites, for well under $200.  Reaper is definitely going to have to deliver on price and play-ability.

I kind of like the idea of having the HUGE Reaper ship, and the slightly smaller WizKids ship, as it would make for a historically/mechanically correct pirate encounter (smaller, more maneuverable pirate ship catching a larger merchant ship).

My thoughts exactly, and nr. 1 is one of the main reasons I don't want to watch Reaperlive and such.

I like to fool around a lot but when it comes to telling me what will be available to me I like to be taken seriously.

      Story
Depending on the amount of orders received for each project, delivery dates might vary. The initial shipment dates indicated are not final, and even though we're committed to giving all our customers the best service we can, sometimes the amount of orders received might make the final shipment date vary compared to our initial estimates. Please keep this possibility in mind before placing your order.
Regarding both the bundles and the stretch goals described above, no swaps of model of any kind are allowed. Therefore, please don’t ask us to swap any stretch goal with other add-ons or any perk models with other miniatures, because that cannot be done.
We created something for those who like to not take themselves too seriously, for those who would like to relax while painting - with less details, but by no means not enough of them - for those who love their minis with a side dose of cuteness overload and, finally, for those who might have children to introduce to miniature gaming, by giving all of these people something that players will love (or hate, as the case may be) no matter their age!
Wait a minute… delivery estimated after only two week after the campaign ends? A Greebo campaign?!
Oh yes, and here’s why: because we’ve started production already! We’re convinced that we can reach the campaign goal, at the least, and that’s why we started the manufacturing process of everything. Therefore, the second you complete your Pledge Manager (let us remind all of you, if you don’t complete it, there will be no shipment, so do it!) your package will be processed and sent, just like that.
We want to open and close this campaign in record time, and we’re confident that we can do it!

Kobolds Vs. Goblins is a game designed, tested, built and played by my son Max and me (You saw him in the video).  The concept was something we came up with for a contest on The Game Crafter using roll & write mechanics.  What we ended up making was a fast and fun game that can be played by people of any age.  It's quick and easy to learn and setup is as easy as opening the box.
Max and I decided that people shouldn't be forced to buy our game just to play it.  So, you are free to download the full color print and play version of the game using this link.   FREE PRINT AND PLAY  (including solo mode) You'll need 6 normal D6 dice and something to mark the paper.  (For prototyping, we used clear cubes, but pencil with eraser will work also)

I'll admit... I have no idea how those of you who share KS from others include all the details and fancy stuff. I clearly didn't do this correctly. Munchkin Metropolis traditionally does woodcrafting, and I've been very satisfied with the quality and production time that's come from my prior interactions with him. Figured I'd try and get the word out about his current KS, which he developed with his son.

      A message from Secret Weapon:

      Big news time everyone!
As many of our pledgers know, we need to adjust the Kickstarter - On the positive, we have a good amount of backers and we know that MANY of you are waiting to up your pledges. We have had a really positive response to the product itself, and lots of interest on the customer and retail side. We deeply appreciate this and your support.
BUT - we have a good amount of backers who are opting to wait on their $1 pledge. This is entirely our fault. We caused this when we locked our core offering behind stretch goals. There is no single item that is core. ALL the options are core. We made it so that many of you had to wait around to buy what you already knew they wanted.
That's a big boo boo, but it was made with the best of intentions. The system was set up so that there was no mandatory amount, and you added what you wanted and nothing more. We thought that this was better for the customer, but it quickly became obvious the vast majority of backers want jump-in points at set amounts like a usual KS... and weren't entirely sure about a pledge manager that was open during the campaign.
So, what are we going to do to fix this for you?
We are going to close the campaign, and relaunch it next week. That sucks and it's embarrassing. But ultimately everything else that happens is great for EVERYONE, because this is what happens next:
1.) ALL themes will be shown and unlocked right off the bat. If you want Urban Streets or Infinity, you just go get it, no hoops or delays to choosing what you want. You also know exactly what is on offer.
2.) There will be pledge levels: $50(+), $100(+) and $200(+). The 100 dollar + level will include a set of 3 weathering pigments (really really good ones too - Burning Sands, Dark Earth, and Rust Orange), and the 200 dollar + level will be the pigment set, and a set of 3 genuinely awesome paints. Secret Weapon's Rubber Highlight, Rubber and Tire Black, our most popular colors! At the end of the campaign you will use the Pledge Manager, as usual, to make whatever specific choices you want based on your KS pledge. The Pledge Manger will be available during the campaign for those that would like help figuring out a total pledge level, but that is optional, and you can wait until the end of the campaign to sign up.
3.) Each of the $50(+), $100(+) and $200(+) pledge levels will have 3 shipping zone options
      Americas, Europe (NOT UK)
      AU, NZ, Asia, Pacific
      United Kingdom (NOT Europe)
4.) Any extra themes that are developed during the course of the KS will be added immediately, no stretch, we just give you the option as soon as it is available.
There will be 17 themes live at the time of launch, which doesn't count the licensed product from Corvus Belli and CMON Zombiecide.
