Reaper Bones 5: Enthusiasm and Commentary thread

That is one of the key issues for scale modeling purists. One manufacturer uses "Eye height" another uses "Top of Head". The eye height figures in any scale wind up being physically taller than the similar top of head figures in the same nominal scale. And, as said before, "Heroic" scale figures just get silly sometimes.

Yeah, I'd much prefer a nominal scale rather than a nominal height. It would short-circuit a lot of these discussions for the more interesting discussion of "does that figure look right".

(That boy just ain't right. )

If your rule set says tabletop scale is 1"=5' (1/60) the SAME FIGURE will have greater range, reach, etc than if it is 1"=10' (1/120), in proportion to it's actual physical height. Given a nominal 1/52 scale for Reaper minis, 1" on the tabletop SHOULD be equal to 4'4" in the game world.  Try getting that one to fly with a GM or Tournament Judge. ::D:

I'd been kind of working under the assumption since I joined that "brocoli base" was like an actual technical term for lumpy, weirdly textured, integral mini bases that, painted vegetation-green, might vaguely look like that vegetable, if you squint your eyes at it and use a little imagination.  I've taken to calling them "broccoli bases" all the time now

I've always though that was a generic forum term for integral bases with various vegetative bits included.

Later comments from Those in the Knows revealed that you're right.

But now, I kind of like to imagine those integral bases randomly make people curse at those broccoli bases for no obvious reason - it kind of appeals to my absurd version of reality

Oh, we have reasons...

Not sure where the pics are but the ship was first unveiled on Oct. 10. I remember because I was driving to visit my in-laws for Thanksgiving and had to rig something up in the van to listen to Reaper Live! that night.

Perfect, tracked it down on Youtube, looks like the episode listed as the 11th actually has the view I was looking for:

Don't you have a bathtub? Or maybe a little inflatable pool?

Ideas for the ship:

  • HMS Seduction - Succubi Crew
  • Riverwolf - Otter Pirate Crew
  • Argent's Wrath - Undead Crew
  • Walletbreaker - Human Crew
  • Looterz - Goblin Crew

Grump suggested Victorious Secret for a Satyxis ship, the pirates called The Solid Doves, I think it would work for succubi.

Brandy Tree works for the Otterly Irresistable Crew.

The idea of cats manning a ship made me snicker. That would be the most dysfunctional crew - always napping and afraid of the water...

I believe that since most of the crews of the Nelson era Royal Navy couldn't swim, they would at least be wary of all that water everwhere, if not afraid of it. Though I expect all the crews, swimmers and non-swimmers alike, were afraid of the water when it was trying to climb aboard during storm times.

I am so using that the next time my PCs run into a notable vessel.

I'm currently running a Sky Pirates campaign, and the PCs are the crew of the Pikehead (the players named the ship, not me).

Some of the earliest pics of the ship had minis on it, really tiny, anyone have a link to those pics or remember what day that was?

The minis, as far as I know, were just there to give an idea of scale. I would not expect a crew to be included in the ship add on.

Yikes, the resolution did not hold. I tried. Just click the link lol.

Thinking about doing this one; while I found Vance kinda torturous to read, the world is fantastically fun. And I think it'd work really well with the good things I've heard about DCC, so I could give that a try in general.

Hi everyone, I wanted to share that we have just launched the third Dunkeldorf Kickstarter! Our last Kickstarter was focusing on "The Prancing Peacock" more or less a full tavern setting.

Our new Kickstarter still focuses on the town of Dunkeldorf, but this time it's all about a Brewer "Sven Wentzel" who's also the leader of a ruthless gang of thugs. There's also more focus on the mutants that dwell in the sewers beneath the town. Finally, the third "Faction" for this campaign is Witch Hunters and their Hired Swords who are en route towards Dunkeldorf to root out the mutants they've heard continued rumours about.

The Kickstarter can be found here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/kinggames/the-kingpin-of-dunkeldorf - With our last 2 campaigns we unlocked a lot of Stretch Goals and included a bunch of extra free miniatures, accessories and pets and we hope to achieve the same this time! 🙂

One of my fellow party members is publishing their first adventure path on KS!

"Lament of The Widow is a tale of thrilling mystery and cosmic horror, spanning over 20 elegantly appointed and thoroughly haunted rooms in the labyrinthine world of Moorehouse, each of which contains the potential for rich rewards, powerful magical items, or painful, agonizing failure. Behind our beautifully illustrated cover, players and Game Masters alike will be thrilled to find over 100 pages of carefully crafted maps, incredible illustrations, and detailed descriptions, as well as a new setting-appropriate background option,  brand new magic items, an update to a classic tabletop monster, and an array of original creatures created just for this setting, all brought to life by our passionate, talented team of artists. Will you brave the perils of the Infinite Manor, unravel its secrets and escape with your lives? Or will you remain forevermore within its halls, trapped in a cycle of suffering and torment without end? The choice is yours...if you have the strength to make it."

It's got some really great art and cool monster concepts! Dalimar is pretty amazingly creative, too - I have 0 doubts it's going to be an awesome adventure.
