Reaper Bones 5: Enthusiasm and Commentary thread

Recommended Posts

I just upped to 250 when I went through the list with my wife last night. We're nearing $400,- as it is. I had promised myself I wouldn't order the same amount as in Bones 4...

But everything's just so.. pretty! o.o

Of course you won't order the same amount.  That would be lame and silly.  You will just order MORE! See, promise kept. Easy peasy. :winkthumbs:

I'm sure many of us are in the same boat (it's $100, in case you didn't know!) as you so at least you have lots of company.  We did around 300 on B4, already at 1200 this time with all those goodies left to see.  Hang in there, it'll be worth it when that big box shows up!

Question btw! I've just joined in on the fun of this chat (I just couldn't find time for it!). but 457 pages is abit much to go through. are there any gems or extra pictures in here which I should try to find back?

I'm also going to use the yeti set for a jungle encounter. I will use the B4 apes along with the B5 yeti minis. I'll  just paint them appropriately. Just another species...

What do you guys and gals think about using the Mandupar Pass with the Bones 4 Gorillas?  I just finished painting our two cores worth of Gorillas and am wondering if it's worth picking up this encounter.  Can't decide if those Yeti would look appropriate alongside the B4 Gorillas.  Would appreciate any thoughts.

Due to unforseen home problems, my son and I have painted few bones (from Bones 1, 2, 3 and 4) and have a stack that measures about 1.5 feet by 2 feet by 3 feet high(!!!) of bones waiting. And we are still in for this one..(can't have enough dragons, wyverns, drakes and wyrms) and can't wait for things to settle here to get on with existing figures.

Well my private inbox here is always open if you're looking to get rid of any of it.  ::D:

I'm really glad to hear you're doing this with your son.  I am also, mostly son and his sister joins in on the painting as well (she's killer with dragons!)  It's a really rewarding way to spend time with the kids I think so kudos to you!

Excellent!  Thanks for the feedback.  I'm sold on it now, after hearing from you guys.

Storage space.  Well, Ikea has some great display cabinets that you might convince your significant other to allow in the living space... if you're lucky.  LOL.  Storage for the unpainted is the age old "stashed in a box in the basement" concept which keeps most of us from getting kicked out.  ;)

That's entirely too much to go through if it were me.  Fortunately I've read the entire thread.  I really don't think you'll be missing much by skipping it and just starting reading what comes fast and furious the next few days.  If there's something specific you're in need of or a burning question you need answered, I'm sure someone would be glad to do so or at least point you to the proper place to look.  So relax and just enjoy the ride!

So, you're one of us then. ::D:

Heck, I've sculpted more for these Kickstarters than I have painted, yet I have most of the minis from them.

I have no idea what you're all talking about, I have no need for more minis!

I think the hierarchy is :

In packaging, unassembled  (have not opened package yet, probably for resale)

< out of packaging, unassembled (opened packaging, checked for issues, first good look)

< o.o.p. assembled (basic assembly done)

< o.o.p, assembled, primed (cleaned, fills done, basecoat/priming done)

< o.o.p., assembled, tabletop basic (3 colors+ black)

< o.o.p, assembled, tabletop advanced (more than 3 colors+black, shading, highlights, finished base)

< Display level (you know it when you see it)

< competition level

Feel free to add or modify this, just my opinion.

Sadly, most of what I own is currently stage 3.

Welcome to the fun!!  For Bones 4, by the time the last box was shipped, we had blown through well over 1000 pages of Enthusiasm!   Best bet is try to catch up on reading the thread at least once daily.

Pixies, Wyrms, Demonicity – Three Mini Role-Playing Games

Three ready-for-adventure mini-game boxed sets for your RPG game night, featuring the Tri-Stat System used in BESM Fourth Edition RPG.

If you're looking for role-playing games that are concise enough to crack open and start playing right away, yet sufficiently robust and evocative to support longer campaign play as well, you've come to the right place.

Welcome to the Kickstarter for the first three Tri-Stat System Mini-Game Boxed Sets – a new line of compact and complete role-playing adventure games that are compatible with Dyskami Publishing's flagship BESM Fourth Edition anime and manga RPG. Tri-Stat System creator Mark MacKinnon has distilled and customised the complete system into distinct streamlined versions for each of the three adventure games – targeting their specific genres and background settings in easy-to-understand boxed sets.

Pixies, Wyrms, and Demonicity – it's time for your next great role-playing adventure!

Pixies, Wyrms, and Demonicity – These boxed set RPGs are games of adventure, exploration, battle, heroism, romance, and imagination. Yet unlike in a traditional board game, the possibilities for exploration and action in these role-playing game are endless.

Each of the three role-playing adventure games contains the following components:

a 32-page full-colour rulebook that gives your group everything you need to play, with sections on character abilities, magical spells/paranormal powers, weapons and equipment, enemy encounters, items and equipment, and guidelines for integrating the Tri-Stat System game with the compatible BESM Fourth Edition RPG
6 brief story scenarios so you can start playing adventures right away
6 pre-generated player character sheet handouts, with game stats and illustration
4 custom-etched dice specific to that boxed set

You can pledge for one, two, or all three of these boxed sets during the Kickstarter.

      ...

I know know nothing about these creators or the system, but I decided to back for Pixies entirely because of that picture of the corgi. 👀
