Storage space.  Well, Ikea has some great display cabinets that you might convince your significant other to allow in the living space... if you're lucky.  LOL.  Storage for the unpainted is the age old "stashed in a box in the basement" concept which keeps most of us from getting kicked out.  ;)

It does help my wife selected many things in the kickstarter aswell, usually the animal forms and cute stuff is in instant buy in her book :p

Still storage is a discussion, but for now the unpainted stash is bigger then the painted, but we're slowly getting there =)

If you have the funds and space, a bin rack is a good option for unpaimted Bones. You can also find them used at industrial surplus stores, or when a business upgrades/changes their displays.

The unpainted isn't an issue atm. Got 1 box for the big stuff along with 3 of this kind (just larger), of which we still have 2 empty ones

Due to unforseen home problems, my son and I have painted few bones (from Bones 1, 2, 3 and 4) and have a stack that measures about 1.5 feet by 2 feet by 3 feet high(!!!) of bones waiting. And we are still in for this one..(can't have enough dragons, wyverns, drakes and wyrms) and can't wait for things to settle here to get on with existing figures.

In the 30 years I've been painting minis, one of the great things I've found about having piles of unpainted minis is that it makes the hobby affordable when you're too broke to do anything else.  I've had my periods in life where I've been able to buy all the fun stuff, and then have had other stretches where I can't splurge on anything other than necessities.  In those times, it's nice to be able to just sit down at a table and paint the backlog.

And in really hard times, you can sell stuff off, sometimes for more than you paid for it (thank you Armorcast Shadow Sword and Eldar Titan).

That Learn to Paint Kit would have been great if it'd ship sooner than the rest of the KS, or if they would release something similar in the store with Bones 4 minis instead of 5 as a "while you wait" measure.

Folk have always recommended the LTPKs for people asking in the KS comments what they should do until their pledges arrive. Quite a few people seem to be getting into the hobby with those Bones KSs since it helps to get a lot your roleplaying needs met rather quickly. Those people are probably the ones most in need of a LTPK, but those are also the people who don't have tons of backlog already and want something to learn and paint now. Atleast that was how I was feeling last KS.

Also, the miniatures in the LTPK aren't unique (thank Tymora) but from what I can see from the Core and Dungeon Dweller sets. With so many characters in those I don't see the need to have doubles of those figures.

Unless they level up their skills and want to paint one again with a better job.

Question btw! I've just joined in on the fun of this chat (I just couldn't find time for it!). but 457 pages is abit much to go through. are there any gems or extra pictures in here which I should try to find back?

We had some sneak pictures here and there but alot of it came out.  currently, we have seen sculpting of Naiads - and some Succubi and Incubi that were shown on twitch.

Naiads - linked for nudity issues

Incubus 2

From Behind

Incubus 3 - Burt Reynolds

From Behind

think that's it ATM. there were also unrevealed dragons somewhere in the reapercon pictures thread.

Hey, I do have one full with BONES (except the large ones)...

And another, smaller for the "next in line to paint", tools, bases, and semi-hidden "shelf of shame"...::P:

these links should work better.

For storage, I use craft boxes - similar to yours.

the ones I use have a layer that fits humans on the top tray and Giants on the bottom tray.  Dragons don't fit anywhere.

I have three and probably need a 4th just for painted minis from Bones 1-3.

Having just finished the Ogre that was sent as the Bones Black Freebie with my order a few months back, I'm really considering getting the Dungeon Dwellers expansion so that I can paint him again in a year and a half and see how much I've improved...

Though I'm not quite so eager to order a "learn to paint" kit for myself for 18 months in the future... although more basic paints and some extra figures for experimentation can't hurt. With more varied colours, I will already say the new kit does look like a better starter than the two I had to go with...

They seldom do... I think it is their "bigger-than-life personalities" :;,;:
