Reaper Bones 5: Enthusiasm and Commentary thread

In fact, regarding Canada, I'm almost completely sure that the Canadians got their orders before some of the US Wave 1 backers, which caused a little tempest in a teacup for those Wave 1 backers, but I don't see the big deal:   it's not like anyone paid extra for Wave 1 or anything, and not like Reaper promised Wave 1 would get stuff before anyone else!  It was just a nice, free convenience for those who showed up earlier, to help with the first-come-first-serve process in Reaper's end up to the point of shipping, after which it's anyone's guess what will happen....

However my regards about shipping to Canada and posting to a USA address were actually in relation to Boxes of Goodwill. I'd like to try one at some point (probably after the kickstarter, to get rid of some of the duplicates I'll have) but it can be a bit much to ask people to pay that much to include me, and international shipping costs a bunch for me too. Thanks for the info though!

Yeah, I'm not sure how that works with the Box of Goodwill.

Since your in the "neighborhood",  you should see about attending PaizoCon next spring. A few of us from the Forum assist with the Paint 'n Take.

If I recall correctly, Canadians were the first in the world to get their Bones 4.

Reaper separating US deliveries from RoW because they were still awaiting a final shipment made one heck of a difference. For a neighboring country, it can easily take over a week to receive anything from the US.

I would say its mostly self entertainment.

That I can see. It just doesn't make sense, if you think all the good stuff is in the add ons, then just by the add ons. Why complain about it so much? He must be a very unhappy person in real life.

I'll admit, as an 'international' buyer, I appreicate that they ship other countries before the US, even if you folks aren't as fond of it. ::P: I live by an urban centre right now, and get things quicker, but last year I was VERY rural, and there were a few times I ordered things, and they were shipped out at the same time as everyone else's... and I got them weeks or months after said predicted shipping & arrival date. I'm glad to hear Reaper's got a system for it!

Hence my hesitation to jumping in (plus a lack of 'extra' miniatures, I'm just starting out).

Huh, I didn't know it was so close - I actually sell at comic conventions and shows, so I have admittedly been attending a lot of them over the past year or so... but only in a 6 to 8 by 2 feet square, typically. It'd be nice to go to a convention to actually go to a convention and see more than my tiny strip of vendor floor. Perhaps a gaming con across the border is a good excuse for next year.

As far as that goes, I was fine with Canada getting in ahead of US backers. They've been a good neighbor for over 200 years, and have made a lot of positive contributions to our culture as a whole. Good on them, I say!

That's the primary reason I respond to him with stats - not to acknowledge him, but to provide a counter view point for anyone else reading.

That's a good idea, I think that sounds like the best way to respond, if you respond at all - especially if it's impersonal and not even directed at him, just a list of stats.

I had no ill-will toward that character, I even at first felt a little sympathetic toward him even when I didn't really agree with him.  I tried the nicest and gentlest responses I could while still countering his negative opinions with objective facts (and in at least one instance I even agreed with him on the busts not being my cup of tea either), and he still said that I was the one being angry and negative and aggressive, and that I was a fanatical fanboy who swarmed him with insults, and that I was censoring his free speech and wouldn't allow him to talk.  At last, I just realized that there's no way to respond to him that he would respond to positively, except to join him in being negative about everything.  I couldn't see any constructive way or reason to respond to him at that point, and ignored him after that.

I still don't see what he's getting out of this experience, if it makes him feel like he's being singled out for bullying and he can't find any part of the experience enjoyable.

He's said a couple things that give me the impression that he's had some sort of labor dispute with Kickstarter or Reaper, and that seemed to be a running theme with at least some of the other negative comments I'd been seeing.  That's still my best guess about whatever has him wound up:  he's got some sort of grudge, maybe a labor dispute or something, and sees the Bones Kickstarter campaign as a one-dollar soapbox that he can use to beat his own drum on.

Just replying with objective statistics seems like a great way to counter whatever his (generally subjective) negative commentary is.

That, too!

I do have to feel bad for the Australians, though - I believe their stuff shipped first, but still suffered a double-whammy of high shipping costs and long wait times, and there's not a lot anyone can do about it:  Australia is so far away from everyone else, and Australian shipping is apparently notoriously slow and expensive for everything, not just Reaper's minis!

I think that MAY be a he. Looks an awful lot like a Tanuki.

From what I understand, they pay some insane prices for import minis. Especially GW stuff.
