Anne said on the stream today that there would probably be some paint leftover after the party.  The question is how do we get our hands on it?!

We'll have to hope some friendly ninja shoppers will be on hand.  I love the color and would like to be able to get a bottle, but I'll be on my way to Florida, not Texas.

In the quantities that Reaper is using these cases they can be produced for an all in cost of $1.50 or less, which includes the sinking fund for recapturing the cost of the molds.

I'm pretty sure the cases Reaper uses are the Tradesman series from Flambeau, which run about $5 direct, without any sort of insert.  Not sure what the quantity discounts are, but based on my purchases from Flambeau for my contract work, I doubt they're as cheap as $1.50, not with the custom insert.

Cost wise, card board boxes would be cheaper, even if not by much, but the big factor may not be cost, but lead times and storage.  A thousand of those pistol cases will take more time to produce and more space to store than a thousand unfolded cardboard boxes will.

Did you get the dates, info, and most importantly the ok from Reaper to do this.

Dont get me wrong, I think it looks great and official and all... but this sort of info about the timeline should come directly from Reaper, and not from a third party.

Even if this is correct at the moment, we know stuff happens and time schedules can and do change.

If delays happen or other unexpected changes happen, Folks who were going by this schedule are going to get upset and blame Reaper and not you.

My 2cents anyway.

I don’t think that would be enough.

I think it looks fantastic and is super-helpful for me, at least.

The others, as cynical as their doubts may seem, might be right that there will inevitably be some backers who'll find a way to misconstrue it as a promise issued directly from the Reapers themselves to do everything on that list before those dates and in time for their birthday, but then there's always some of these in every Bones Kickstarter who are doomed to confusion in spite of the best efforts of anyone involved.

The question might be whether the timeline will help more people than it will confuse?  I'd like to think so.

Maybe add the words like "about", "approximately", or "estimated" before each date?  That assumes the Permaconfused backers know what those words mean, or that they won't totally ignore them, or convert them via wishful thinking to words like "promised", "guaranteed", or "contractually obligated", of course....

This.

Add more qualifiers that it isn't from Reaper, make it more vague - especially since many things are totally beyond Reaper's ability to control.  Things like "estimated spring 2021" (as YronimosW recommended) instead of just "spring 2021" go a long way toward decreasing confusion and frustration.  I personally like it, as it helps those who don't understand the cycle of a kickstarter project.  But who knows what Reaper's management (not to be confused with forum moderators) will think about it.  Perhaps drop one of them a note with the link and ask for input.

Thank you all for the feedback. You make some very good points.

I think I've found a solution that should make it better.

Please have another look and let me know if you think this addresses the issues.

Personally, I like it better.

Removing specifics regarding the timeline but keeping new backers informed about the order things will happen will be helpful without seeming like there is a commitment or promises being made regarding the length of time of each step.

I think it looks really good. There will still be some who will try to get around it, but...George Carlin had a lot to say about people like that.

I'm not a fan of foul language, but that man had a heckuva wit. ::D:

The sea giant reminds me of a more epic version of a raid encounter in WoW.

Rose gold metallic paint?  I really hope it's made available to those of us who can't make it to the wrap-up party someday.  I'd love to have that.  (Rose gold is my favorite form/color of gold.)
