I mean, it can be whatever sort of dragon you want it to be. My husband likes the dnd dragon designs, but that doesn’t mean I pay much attention to them when I’m painting.

Oh, I'm not really too picky myself honestly - I'm very prone to just making up my own monsters anyway. I was just mostly curious I hadn't seen the complaints roll back around, and somewhat prepared that I might set it on the table and someone will say "that's not a real white dragon" and I have to say, "well, it now sets you on fire anyway".

Ok. I'm jumping ship to later wave (because as a Canadian, being in wave 1 is meaningless to me).

Wave 1 Americas opening in 5… 4… 3… 2… 1… GO!

I have the great temptation to grab that Wave 1 just because it's Wave 1, but.....I go against my instincts because I realize that I'm Canadian too.

My interpretation was only the base was translucent.  hmm.

HAHA According to Ron in the KS comments everything will be in the translucent aqua (sirens and base)

Huh, well, guess that potentially settles it.  Could allow for various translucent effects if one wants ^_^  Either way, I'll playfully use them to keep hubby "in line"

No.  Thus far I am not on the hook to get a tattoo.

Good, because once you get that first one...  It's like your first pot of paint....  You get more over time.... (or you pick up a hobby that lets you feed it $20 bills one at a time, so that you can't save up for the $2.5-3k or so in work your next tattoo would involve...)

Yup.  Really not a fan of most female minis, especially painting them.  Just not my thing.  Some I've acquired because I liked their fluff, the personality, poses, or other reasons, but yeah.  I haven't gotten all that many female minis.  Only reason I broke into dual digits for purchased female minis is that Infinity tends to go half and half for genders on their models.  I would have eventually broken into such with Burrows & Badgers, but still.

Some minis, such as Reaper's Krokuta (sku 02955) or Oathsworn's Barbarian Minotaur (from the Heroines In Sensible Shoes line) are absolutely lovely, and I've been enjoying painting them...  Even Reaper's Succubus (sku 77281) is fun, and even hubby is curious to see how I'll paint her up..

Or, in short, I'm not really a fan of the female form, but there are rare minis that do catch my eye, like, uhm, most of what Rainbow Sculptor does.  I'll more than likely wind up buying those teased at ReaperCon succubi too, and not just because they're rumoured to be in the same encounter/pack as the incubi..

It was fun to get in as early as possible (wave 3) and then fight my way up to 2 and then 1. But I don't need it and I'd rather let someone else for whom it makes some difference have it. I didn't announce it in the KS comments though, only here. :poke:

Given the competition they'd face from all the other 28mm WWII manufacturers...

There’s like, a bazillion other companies that do all sorts of historical armies.

I find this line of reasoning bewildering, considering the much larger number of huge fantasy mini companies that Reaper competes with (successfully).  Why is it ok for them to compete with the likes of WizKids, GF9, Games Workshop, Iron Wind, Privateer, etc. but not ok for them to compete with Warlord, Victory Force, etc.?

If you REALLY look at the markets for a couple of your bigger choices here, Reaper ISN'T competing with them. GW figures are for GW games.  Privateer Press figures are for their games.  GF9 and Wizkids makes stuff for D&D.  Reaper specializes in making stuff that works for whatever you want it to.  I hear what you're saying because WWII figures sold by another company aren't putting money in Reaper's pocket's, but ti's also a vastly different audience from who they usually sell to, with different expectations and a different kind of sculpting.

My guess is because reapers customers are generally in the fantasy market. Or at least the largest segment is.

like Burger King makes french fries because that is what their customers expect, even though countless others make french fries... but Burger King doesn’t make tacos because it’s not what they are known for, and others already do... or at least they shouldn’t make tacos....

or remember the MC pizza or the mclobster? Yeah I’m hungry again. What was I saying?

One of my players (and my co-backer) said he wants me to get this set.  "We need to have a lot of battle and other scenes right there."

I'm sure it has to do with his desire for more "hand waved" encounters in our game (we do not go into details on behind-doors brothel encounters).

It's like Lucas battles. Every sword fight has to have some fantastic scenery in & around the combatants!

Happy to see the Nerrids but not a big fan of the trans Bone material thou. Would rather have seen a mix with the Nerrids being standard color & the water being aqua.
