Reaper Bones 5: Enthusiasm and Commentary thread

Recommended Posts

There's almost certainly some practical limit... I seem to recall there was a limit of I believe 100 items early on, but I think that changed to a higher number.  I have a feeling there won't be a lot of backers reaching that limit except temporarily for curiosity :)  (I seem to have mis-remembered this part!)

As far as I know, Fan Favorites is something at least some of the Reapers want to see happen, but it's not be confirmed publicly yet.

Considering we're in the last 48 hours, I'm honestly surprised with how slow everything is going comparatively. Am I crazy? Is this going a little slower than anticipated in the last 48 days?

We may have met the practical limits of the average backer's bank account already, and there were otherwise a number of backers who simply haven't seen more than a couple items they can say anything nice about, so there may be a lot of backers who just quit or who are otherwise sitting this one out.

That said, in spite of how slow everything seems, this Kickstarter has been breaking some records and my be hone of the most successful Bones Kickstarters yet (I think it's already raised more money than any previous Bones Kickstarter, and it's not far from having more backers than any previous Bones Kickstarter!)

something i drew many many many years ago   seems fitting

I totally agree with you in that those particular exaggerations are not very realistic in function. This was a challenging character/figure to create because I wanted her to read as feminine but als

Due to Kickstarter rules you can only buy 10 of any one item.

Well, Reaper will also want to be able to sell something at Retail, if people can buy too many they'll do so to resell and that will have a negative impact on Reaper's profit ;-)

It also makes it a lot harder to predict what is likely to be required for post-kickstarter retail sales if they don't apply a hard limit on the number of items that any one account can order

We have them, but I'd sooner spend the same amount of money on a Mucho sized burrito at, uhm, Mucho Burrito.  Much more filling, PLUS they have Jarrito soda AND "Mexican Brownies".  ...Brownies in a paper bag that are then microwaved.  But still.  Delicious, heavy chocolate dessert to go alongside your gargantuan burrito of doom.

With all this taco talk I'm half expecting to see requests for dire tacos now....

Dire taco mimic?

Nope, full sized Triceratops! Santa is tough!

On the Chrono expansion, I am satisfied with the start. The remakes were pretty much needed as the detail on the original Bones ones. These will sell much better. I'm glad to see that there is a theme to these. Gives me hope for the rest of the set, am I sold on it yet? Coin toss...

Curses - I went into this Kickstarter hoping to spend less than before, and this is shaping up to be the most expensive Kickstarter I've ever backed.  I'm trying to say no to a couple of the encounters and expansions and whatnot, but it's just not working....

I think if you are into sea motifs it is hard not to get sucked in. Really compatible themes this time

Reaper may have stumbled onto a winning formula between that and the strong evidence that strong, coherent themes and storytelling within encounters and expansions help sell such sets.  Pick a theme for the Kickstarter, and then have the various parts support each other in different ways such that they tell a bigger story, and backers will have a hard time saying 'no'!

I'm not really in need of robot trolls or kobolds, but it'd be a bit of a bummer if they weren't part of the KS.

I'm hoping we get them in the chronoscope set part 3...

I have no idea what I'm gonna do with myself after this is all l over...

So As we get in to the home stretch, I've got a question for the previous Kickstarter Alumni. Can add other debit or credit cards once the Pledge Manager opens once the Kickstarter ends? I seem to remember someone mentioning something about PayPal, but you had to do it a certain way, but it was quite awhile ago. on a related note, how does that work exactly? I'd planned on adding a little at a time as my bank account allows, or is it something you need to do all at once once you lock in your pledge? Thanks in advance.

Yeah, it's looking like such will be the case for me as well, although I suspect some things will be narrowed down at least a little since yeah.  That's a hefty amount in pledge manager thoughts atm o_O

I'm happy to see they've launched a 2nd KS, as I missed out on the first one.
Here's the blurb from the Kickstarter, which is live and already funded here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/292543184/wallhalla-2/description

Hey, everyone! We're Ill Gotten Games, and we're back for another round of Wallhalla, the modular, 3d printable miniature display shelves!
We're kicking this new series off with a Dangerous Dungeon theme that comes in two available styles:

Classic: (left) the original format found in Series 1, optimized for miniature display. Classic shelf units also include versions with recesses for standard round bases (20mm, 25mm, 32mm, 40mm, 50mm, 60mm, and 70mm).
Wall Sprawl: a new, terrain-style take that lets you build vertical dungeons and play on your wall space! (It works great as a display as well, especially if you want even more of a diorama look.)
Both of these sets are 100% compatible with one another and with any of the sets from Series 1. This campaign is for digital STL files, not finished, physical products, and you'll need access to a 3d printer to make them. All of our Wallhalla designs:
print 100% support free and are optimized for FDM machines!
assemble with durable, built-in slide-fit connectors, and don't require glue!
can be configured (and reconfigured) into whatever build suits your fancy!
      are easy to paint!

A new Kickstarter that may otherwise go under your radar.

      Very entertaining 70’s/80’s nostalgia aesthetics.

I barely received my last campaign pledge from Midlam that already it has something that caught my interest.

Sisters of the Kraken Cult. The female counterparts of the previous "Onslaught of the Cult of the Kraken Lord" and "Cultists of the Kraken Lord". (I now have some regret of not getting it)

What's also interesting is the optional add-on of fish folk.

Brinewind is going to have some interesting neighbors.

      RPG Sidequest Decks

Ending soon. Card decks, each with a side quest. Pretty straightforward.

Been watching the previews for this on Bold's Instagram,  Some crazy cute models, this time sculpted by  Ismael Nieto.  I'm particularly fond of Bisa and Tori, the winners of the dino race, and the BatPacker is too cute.  Resin cast and STL like their last several releases.  I've picked up their STLs before and been very happy, Planning to try to swing for at least one in resin this time, though shipping from Sweden hurts.
