Reaper Bones 5: Enthusiasm and Commentary thread

Ugh...

I really, really, like Chronoscope.

But I can't justify it.

I want to justify it, but I can't.  I already have lots of zombies, and I'm not sure what to make of the "Not to Scale" comment on the trailer.  Is it the image that's not to scale?  Will the miniature be not to scale?  The blob-beast is amazing!  The post-apocalyptics are great and would have fit perfectly with a setting I was mocking up mentally a few years back.  And those killer robots?

You guys aren't making this easy, Reaper.  ::P:

Yup.  Nasty critters who come get you in the dark.

Cool. Do you know what story that's from? Lovecraftian mythos never really did it for me but I don't think I know night gaunts, might give that one a try.

Might be holding for the finale.

it seemed strange to me as the final piece, if so, cause they said it wont be like maal drakar or kanjira size. it'll be like the dragons.

But they do have the ship as the big showpiece this time around.  I'd get the godzilla if it was size of khanjira. Prob not gonna bother with it as it .

Not to scale almost certainly means the trailer is bigger than shown in the image, where it was shrunk down to fit. Just an educated guess mind you.

But… what if it's not alone?

you mean a set of monsters? a group sure.  for me, its the size approx (from what they said) of privateers Dracodile, which i already have, so no need for both really.  That said, depends on cost. If its like 25..no..$10-15...sure

Not sure about the Chronoscope expansion.

I already have a lot of post apoc survivors and zombies... of course the same could be said of dragons and Dwarfs, halflings and giants... and I still buy more of all those.

Still, the wrecked Airstream looks pretty tempting, and those zombies and some of the survivors have a lot of character.

I think this will be a decision I’ll be making very late into the pledge manager.

"The Dream Quest of Unknown Kadath"

Lovecraft apparently suffered from sleep paralysis as a child, in addition to being a precocious reader of his grandfather's library of old books - one of his earliest memories was of waking up at night to find a dark, rubbery, winged shadow-man sitting on his chest and tickling him painfully while he was frozen and unable to move - the things he saw resembled the winged demons from "Paradise Lost" as illustrated by Gustave Dore.  Lovecraft wrote these things - the Nightgaunts - into his stories, as creative writers do.

Quote

25ba04180741bf5b97adc194d7b27759--simon-

"...Suddenly, without a warning sound in the dark, Carter felt his curved scimitar drawn stealthily out of his belt by some unseen hand. Then he heard it clatter down over the rocks below. And between him and the Milky Way he thought he saw a very terrible outline of something noxiously thin and horned and tailed and bat-winged. Other things, too, had begun to blot out patches of stars west of him, as if a flock of vague entities were flapping thickly and silently out of that inaccessible cave in the face of the precipice. Then a sort of cold rubbery arm seized his neck and something else seized his feet, and he was lifted inconsiderately up and swung about in space. Another minute and the stars were gone, and Carter knew that the night-gaunts had got him..."

"Nightgaunts are a fictional race in the Cthulhu Mythos and is also part of H. P. Lovecraft's Dream Cycle. The creatures appear in the poem "Night-Gaunts" and the novella The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath, both by Lovecraft. Wikipedia"

Looks like they are also a Pathfinder/D&D creature.

This mad dash at the end is driving me insane! Still so much I would like to see, of things teased at reaper con! I saw in an above spreadsheet the dragons are gargantuan sized (4 inch base), is that the case? Could have sworn they were on 3 inch bases... This alone may make me need to collect the set of Chromatics in PM...

The thing is that when the apocalypse does come you might not want to play with apoc minis (to depressing) but you will still want to play with dragons and dwarfs, halflings and giants.  ::P:

I'm kind of glad there's a bunch of things I'm not interested in this time around. It's looking like my wish list may be under $400. ::D: Wasn't sure if I'd go for the core this time or not but the difference between what I want and the whole set is $10. For $10 I might as well have twice the minis. Never know where they might get used.
