I guess I'll have to remember that the REALLY squeaky wheels get the grease next time. I figured having Ron the art director reply and say he liked my idea was a good sign, and I could lay off proposing it thereafter.

Next time I'll be more persistent. (But not chimera-spamming update lurker annoying...)

Yes, that kinda happened with the Bones IV expansion as well. Not sure what your idea was, but I'm also determined to become more spammy in my Fey wishes. Everytime I posted it there was positive feedback from other backers, same with the Bones I'd Like To See Thread. For something to really catch on in the KS comments you have to post all the time though, so other people can (hopefully) pick up the same idea and start asking for it, too, making a "fan favorite".

On the other hand, some ideas might be to elaborate to fit into an existing campaign. A bald rogue is one figure, but something like a Dark Carnival some people asked for (or Fey) really need multiple figures or better an expansion to get going. So if Ron liked your idea, maybe it's on an inspiration list for upcoming projects somewhere =)

The cockatrices (cockatrex?) are adorable!  They are one of the items that make me want that expansion.... in a few months when we can add more to our pledge.

Cockatrice encounter is wonderful - the deciding factor in my getting the Fan Favourites. Even better than the chance to expand my gatormen tribe!

So I have a problem.  Just went through, I want all 5 chromatics, the pirate ship, brinewind, fan favorites, the core set, the siege weapons, and a few other things.  That comes to about 600, I only did bones 4 beforehand and that hit 350. If I spend that much on miniatures, the adult half of my brain is going to torment me for months, even if I spread it out.  What's a guy to do?

If budget was not an option it  would be $761.02 , far more than my budget and more than I spent on Bones 3 or 4. So cuts and budgeting must be made. My recent move to Ireland really has increased my personal hobby/painting collecting time while plummeting my actual tabletop gaming time. So in addition to budget I will see what of this fits with my new lifestyle and if I have the desire/access to sell extra stuff in which case I will go for a lot more. I will definitely get more than Bones 4 and might challenge what I spend on 3 which is amazing considering I was filling empty mini coffers that time.

Getting for sure ~260

Pirate Ship

Loot Golem x 2

Dragon-Lion

Dark Depths

Mammoth

Aganzarax

Yokai

Yog-Sothhoth

Paints x 2

Will add later as things develop (Likely PM adds) ~120

Kobold Swarm

Gem Dragon

OverGourd

Fan Favorites

Monsters

Elemental Scions

Ravenhome

Really Like But Probably are getting cut ~200

Greek

Brinewind

Brinewind Extras

Troll Bridge

Kalanzar

PIt

Gallowgaurd

Kaiju

Seriously?  Look at it this way; my partner and I went out to a show last night and I sprang for an extra pre-show chat with the stars.  Altogether, with dinner, we were up towards $400, and a Broadway show night is in the same ballpark.  We did ballroom competitions a few times, and that was running up toward a thousand for a day of having judgmental people tell you what you were doing wrong. ::P:

On an hourly basis, miniatures are the cheapest hobby I have, and that’s just counting the crafting time.  Add in game playing (if you do that) and it’s even better/cheaper.

I spread it out and compare it to other things. I might easily spend $100 on a night out with dinner and movies with the family. Maybe $200 if I we went to a concert or sporting game. Let yourself enjoy things. If I don't have a backstop of things to paint I find I will pick up $40-$50 worth of stuff if I stop in a store (and I get much less)

I never let my hobbies come before things I need and I don't borrow money for these type of things , and I have started to sell extra hobby stuff to have a balance. Don't beat yourself up that takes the fun out of it.

Here is a little better view of the Drunken Mermaid Bar.  It is still a WIP.  I have lots of ropes, wood texture, and bar-fight damage to add yet.

Talespinner,  your bar is magnificent. Did you do the Black Freighter raft too?

Heh.  Rural area.  I don't think theres anywhere nearby I could spend 100 on a night out.  Never done it before at least.

Well that is even better, it means you can save :)

For me dinner with wife and kid plus a couple drinks = $50 -$75 and if we hit the movies or equivalent that is another $40 ish. But that is because I think of my budget for 3 people at once

I thought you guys might like a closer shot of the Cockatrice mini encounter that I worked on!

*snip*

Cockatrice Nest Top.jpg

I really love this mini encounter! @GHarris, you did some fantastic work on this one! I'm probably going to set up the halfling as a statue, with the egg still real. And I think that potion bottle will likely be a potion/oil of stone-to-flesh when I run this in a game.

Reaper really knocked the"encounter" concept out of the park. It reminds me of some old metal sets that were really just scenery pieces, like a "jungle Kings throne" set that I have somewhere, I think from Mega Miniatures? But done so much more thoroughly! Even this "mini" encounter with the cockatrices is so full of gaming candy, I love it. I can't wait to be able to just drop these things into a campaign!

Ok. So assume you have to add $600 more to your pledge (since I don’t know how much you have already put in.) we will also assume the pledge manager is open for 9 months since we don’t know exactly how long it will be open.

so. That’s $66.66 dollars a month. Or $16.67 per week or $2.38 a day.

So, if you skip a coffee or lunch or not see a couple movies, etc., it is not that big of a burden. I am about the same. I think I want about $760 in loot now... and spent $120 so far... so only need $640 ish more... so no Chinese food at my Friday night pathfinder games. That’s $20/ week right there.
