They had an impromptu Twitch stream today. Bones 5 was the 55th best funded Kickstarter ever. 

 

(Each Bones KS falls within the top 0.4% [or 0.04%?] of all Kickstarters.)

In the final minute of today's twitch stream they answered a question about the color of the pirate ship.  There will be at least two different options, one of which will be translucent green.

I missed the live broadcast but tried to watch the recorded version while on my break at work so I rushed through it and missed that info.

My KS payment did get sorted out; my payment showed up in my on-line account. 

 

I checked the pledge manager on my computer (only had my phone before), and I'm getting the same error as some others from the laptop as well.

My immediate thought for how to use the Ghoulsbane figure was for a particular fight in the Curse of Strahd campaign. There's a monster that uses the stat block of a Shambling Mound, but feels random when you imagine it as a plant creature. It works a lot better as a grotesque pile of animated flesh, sinew and bones... basically, that would be a great figure for it.

My current plan and reasons why:

Expansions 

Getting:

The reasons I am getting these expansions is because they build onto each other, plus they interact well with figures from Bones 4.

 

Dark Depths: May try to make the Dragon Turtle from Bones 4 into a biome with all the creatures swimming around it while I do a resin pour. 

Brinewind:  Will expand the ghost pirates and Dreadmere from Bones 4. Allowing me to build a small island, swamp pirate village and a Port with a hidden cave. Like the non combat sculpts.

 

Maybe (in this order)

Chronoscape: I am sad there are not more civilian types in this expansion, plus I don't like the 3d renders that much (look too smooth)

Greek Odyssey: lots of large sculpts, some did catch my interest but I will need to decide on them (plus I dislike 3d sculpted fur when compared to hand sculpted). 
Dungeon Dwellers: I didn't buy anything from reaper during the promotion so those would give me a nice range of figures, plus I like the orc design and the kobolds fit with Bones 4.
Fan Favourite: Cockatrice, Axoloti, chicken swarm, vampire I love, but everything else is meh or not yet done.
Daimyo: Have the rising sun board game, so other stuff is more interesting. 

 

From Core

This time the core did not really call out to me so I will just pick and choose some things.

Getting:
Kid Heroes: Children will really make the civilians from Bones 4 and Dreadmere come alive.  

Gem Dragon: 4 dollar dragon. Plus painting gems seems a nice challenge.
Maybe: 
Player characters (there are some non combat minis in there) OR Feature Creatures (The stag, weasel and trolls)
Sadly most of the other sections only have 1 or 2 figures I like and I don't feel they are worth it overall (e.g. Monsters: Basilisk, Constructs: small scarecrow, Undead: undead giant plus reaper [the undead lords would require me to buy a horde of skeletons], )


Extras 

Getting

Townsfolk: Lots of fabric to paint, some kids and I can put them anywhere. 

Dragon Bust: Want to paint a bust.

Aganzarax: Like the base and general body shape of the dragon (Those horns)

Bust Collection: Want to try painting human busts.

 

Maybe:

Krateryx, Shadow Dragon: Like the body posture.
Brinewind Extras: Work with Dreadmere and Brinewind. /

Henchmen if the pictures come out.


Extra Maybe

Shavynra the Slayer: The posture and body shape seem interesting (not as interesting as above)
The other dragons if better pictures come out and I like them.
Song of the Sirens: Once again I seem to be going for the sea theme.
Maybe one of the Encounter sets (Vampires or Skeletons or Dwarves)

Payment has gone through.

Now to wait for a while for things to settle down.

Then slowly add some more in the PM till I get what I really want.

I will probably shuffle the money around drop something/add something.

Fun times.

 

As somebody who only paints for display and fun I can use creatures in armies to my own desire not being limited to rules.

So Undead and Monsters will find a way in my collection.

 

The Ship and the Sea Creatures are awesome.

I was wondering about the Brinewind Extra Set, it's wonderful, but the only thing I find a bit odd is that the Bar wasn't a separate add on.

Why?

Because I could use doubles of carts, boats,docks,  barrels and such, but I would only need one Bar.

That's preventing me from getting an extra copy of the set.

I was planning on getting doubles and flipping the bar around creating a free standing bar with an enclosed work place in the middle.

 

I see someone else here has already posted they were planning to do the same.

 I read that, I was thinking about it, but not sure if it would fit.

It would make an awesome diorama.

On the other hand, I imagine some people might like to have the Bar but don't really need a bunch more barrels, because things like that are readily available from other manufacturers. An "extra" bar would probably be a relatively easy thing to re-sell on the secondary market.
