What games are you playing that use siege equipment? I only ever remember reading that you and hubs do RPGs and catapults, etc. rarely turn up in those.

several D&D adventures have seiges in them but how the characters interact can change.  DM could always expand on them so the siege battle becomes more forefront or not.

- Rod of Seven Parts has a seige i believe but dont remember if any seige weapons.

- Savage Tide, several abyssal fortresses use magic missile/force missile ballistae

Spelljammer has lots of siege weapons mounted on the starships

in an old campaign, we mounted a ballistae on a specially made wagon and had 4 horses to pull it, which our party used for outdoor campaigns.  :)

Thoughts on CAD models for Reaper - Bones 4 went really hard into them, and one of my main complaints is with the wings. They're too thick. I was working with the Rulers of Hell the other day, and was really disappointed by how their wings turned out - they're super thick, to the point that various nicks and tears on the membranes don't even line up between front and back, and generally look really unpleasant. Argent had a similar problem, which is likely the source of his massive amount of drooping that's been reported.

For Bones 5, I really hope they work to keep the wings thinner on their CAD-rendered figures. The hand-sculpted ones seem to have been consistently firm, reliable, and not over-thick. I hope they manage to replicate that going forward with the increased zBrush sculpts and such when they're finally produced in physical form. From the printed dragons, it looks like they might have been better about it this time, but I'm definitely curious how it'll overall turn out.

im thinking it may have to do with the material.  the red dragon by GF9 was cad printed and its wings are thin but its a resin model.   not the thinnest ive seen (that winner is the CMON 10th anniversary Cang dragon. probably the thinnest part ive ever seen on a model outside of the scroll of paper on a forgeworld servo skull).

I never saw it since I don't watch Reaper Live (I've seen 1 & I was bored. ::D:). Again, I hope I'm wrong, it doesn't need to be huge, just a decent size. No Mini-thulu size. Plus, I noticed Mini' is priced at 7 retail & this is 10 KS price.

they said the godzilla thing will probably be in the 4-5 inch tall range from what i remember in that old reaper live episode.

Does everyone else have an urge to make adventures that use the figures that WON'T BE AVAILABLE FOR TWO YEARS?! :wow:

Right now I am looking at Brinewind, and have an idea for a non-hostile undead encounter with drunk skeletons.

I have the temptation to write an adventure by garnering up all the WoTC prepainted things I have, and whatever Painted minis I have got, and writing something based around them.

Drunk Skeletons: isn’t there an old chestnut of a song that goes? “...what do you do with a drunken Sailor? what do you do with a drunken sailor?...” I bet Grump knows it.

Almost seems more appropriate for "Fifteen men on a dead man's chest/Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum..."

I am also reminded of the skeletal guardian from The Last Unicorn, getting drunk even though the wine poured straight through his empty rib cage.

I remember, prior to Bones 4, I think, there was a preview at Reapercon of a series of warriors who were multipart kits. There was a lot of speculation that they'd make it into the KS, but then were never seen nor heard from again. I don't know what happened to them, but it's odd that we still haven't seen that happen...

Found a screenshot of commentary on it...

Ah, but would they have been for Bones, or for the unreleased Conan game?

Remember how models like the giant cobra was supposed to go there.

Multi-part kits for core races and classes in D&D would be a godsend.

I don't think Bones Classic would have worked for this, but Bones Black might... on the other hand, it doesn't seem to jibe with Reaper's "play it right out of the package" philosophy for Bones. Are they still sticking with that?

I was thinking about those when the henchmen/hirelings were announced. The henchmen thing reminded me of the old AHQ henchmen, which these guys remind me of.

I also wonder what happened to the other hill giant that Bryan accidentally linked to that one time. I grabbed a screen of that but never shared it.

Looking back through the thread where I found that, there were several minis that never wound up in the KS and have still not shown up since. It's rather interesting to know that there's several fully realized sculpts out there that still haven't appeared, neither in Bones nor metal.

I'm about 99% sure that they weren't for the Conan game. IIRC, the Conan thing was basically already dead by that point...

Well while I can cut the legs off, the rest is very firmly glued, and fairly unusable. Yes, this is my opinion, but baba yaga's hut was a miss for me. If the model had been hard plastic and more like the mausoleum from KS3 that would have rocked.

For the pirate ship I would hope Reaper communicates with the factory that the decks need to come off and it should not be glued. If it comes like the barge in pieces that would be wonderful. I am looking forward to it, I just do not want to be disappointed.

I only have one main concern with the ship, and that's the removable decks. While I'm a relative new comer to Bones (Not minis, just Bones) I've worked with it enough to see there could be some potential problems with long, relatively thin section that each deck would have to be made in, namely with warpage. Now it should be easy enough to fix, given the properties of Bones, but I can see it getting out of hand if say one deck warps one way, and the one above it warps another. Not trying to be negative, but it's one thing I'm going to be keeping an eye on as more info is released about the ship.

I think they're most concerned with making awesome minis, and that's just one of countless considerations.

I honestly hope they go with the harder plastic used for the Mausoleum from Bones 3. It's a hard, sturdy plastic that doesn't warp at all. Really nice stuff, and would be the perfect material for something like the ship.

I thought they were considering the same hard plastic as Wyrmgear's wings?

Was the barge from bones 4 regular bones or Bones black or something else? I have 2 Barges and didn't have any warping. I would have been happy with a pirate ship the same general size as the barge. Though, I am super excited for the large pirate ship. I still hope we get some cannon packs in the pledge manager. I can always use more cannons.

I agree on the cannons!

Would love some more separate naval guns.

I wonder if there will be swivel guns as well?

Else I might add a few myself.

Barge is sturdy indeed, I'm not sure if it is real Black Bones or the grey formula.

But I was pleasantly surprised by it.

Just a fun little surprise I happened across earlier.  No pictures of the dice and it's ending today, but some really nice ones on their store and I've friends who own some so I thought I'd give it a go.

      About
Welcome to the Great Wall draft page – the campaign is not live yet, but we will be gradually adding more and more information about the game here! We are incredibly excited to hear your feedback, so please let us know what you think. If it looks interesting to you - make sure to click the "Notify me on launch" button!
The Great Wall is a new major board game from Awaken Realms (creators of Nemesis, Tainted Grail, Etherfields and many other acclaimed products). Players will take the roles of generals of an ancient oriental empire who lead the defence against ruthless hordes. You will need to gather allied advisors, manage your workers, recruit armies and, together with other players, raise and defend the Great Wall! As the game progresses, you will often need to co-operate or negotiate with other players, but make no mistake – there can be only one winner!
This fresh worker (and soldier!) placement game for 1-4 players faces them with many difficult choices and often pushes them to interact with each other. You will be assigning your workers to eleven different locations, such as Tea House, Quarry, Messenger Post, or Barracks, using special Command cards that have additional effects. Production in locations activates ONLY when all their slots are filled, but filling them all by yourself can result in a penalty. On top of that, players can buy overseers who will give additional output every time a location becomes activated. This creates a lot of involving long- and short-term strategies.
Each player starts with one unique General, characterized by their asymmetric power, as well as the production level. From there, you will further customize your economic engine and fine-tune your strategy by recruiting advisors who provide additional bonuses.
Eventually, a Wall Defence phase beings, where players place previously build armies on Horde Cards – earning Honor (Victory points) and looting resources from the defeated troops. This requires smart management of three types of units: Archers, Spearmen and Cavalry. Players place these soldiers one by one, playing the Tactics cards that create another layer of interaction.
Gain meditation by shooting with the Zen Archer, then spend meditation on a Cavalry Squad Leader to move your Cavalry around the battlefield faster, and – finally – finish off by getting extra Honor for each of the Cavalry’s engagements thanks to the Banner Holder. There are endless possibilities for great combos and memorable plays.
On top of that, your Advisors and General might give your troops extra abilities, such as shooting twice or looting twice the resources!
All of the above makes the Great Wall one of our most strategically involving designs that will be appreciated by many different groups of players: those who love euro-styled games with their intricate economies and engine-building, those who love over-the-table play, bargaining and negotiations – and finally, those who simply like to wage war on a beautiful map.
