Reaper Bones 5: Enthusiasm and Commentary thread

Recommended Posts

Was just thinking, when I open up the Core Set in the distant future, I'd love it to include a fold-out poster of the Core Set graphic from the Kickstarter page, just so I get a reminded of exactly HOW MUCH is included.

Chalk me up as being in the "Sophie's Bounty" and "Sophie's Fortune" camp. They're such obvious choices that I think it's definitely the way to go. I mean, a lot of the names folks are coming up with are excellent, and I hope you all use those on your ships, but for an official Reaper product name, I think it's only right to name it after Sophie.

I also like the name Sophie’s Embrace since Sophie is a succubus after all. And it makes me think of the song Brandy and how the sea is what seduces sailors.

Sophie's Kiss?

Miss Fortune?

Sophie's Kiss was also a name that popped into my head when coming up with ideas.

Now I'm stuck with that name, and only that one.

Like, I'm not going to riot or anything, but I'm pretty disappointed that this ship isn't likely to be named "Dark Maiden."

She's a ship that's been part of Reaper lore for twenty years at this point, she's already got a beautiful figurehead (several sculpts), she's a pirate ship, she's a GHOST pirate ship.

But I can see why crowdsourcing the official name is profitable for Reaper. I'm just a bit bummed out by it.

I am hoping that one of the first extra figureheads they make (assuming that possibility actually happens) is a new sculpt of Dark Maiden.

Boaty McBoatface!

Seriously, not sure if you saw it in the news ages ago but the UK had a public poll about naming a new science vessel.  The public overwhelmingly chose "Boaty McBoatface".  I can't help but think of this every time someone suggests a name for the ship.

Officials ultimately rejected the name for the main ship itself.  Instead they named it the extremely stuffy sounding "RRS Sir David Attenborough" but named one of its submersibles "Boaty McBoatface" instead.

Here's a link to the Wikipedia if interested.

Ron even mentioned it in the last Reaper Live.

Tomb Guardians over the past year has been asked to release our miniatures in a resin/plastic material because a lot of you do not like metal.  So for nearly a year we have discussed and researched the best way to produce a high quality, high detail miniature that is far above the current standard on the market.  We are happy to announce that we have found a method and decided to release all our 28mm monsters in a High Resolution Resin.  These miniatures will come with a 1 year guarantee, if you break one we will replace it for FREE!  Just mail it back to us.   Bobby Jackson, Jason Weibe, Gene Van Horne and Patrick Keith help create these amazing creatures.  We hope you enjoy our Monsters and want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Neat little Kickstarter to make a set of Plastic Toy Soldier Style Army Women.
The BMC Toys Plastic Army Women is a 24-piece set of plastic female soldier figures in 6 different poses:
Pathfinder Captain Standing Rifleman Kneeling Rifleman Prone Sniper Grenadier Bazooka Operator November 16th Update: Stretch Goals #1, #2 and #3 are unlocked. All packs of Plastic Army Women are getting upgraded to 36 figures in 12 different poses.  Additional poses include:
Running Rifleman Combat Medic Low-Crawl Rifleman Radio Operator Wounded Soldier ????????  Made from slightly flexible olive drab green color LDPE plastic, the figures will be approximately 1:32 scale, and stand up to 2.1 inches tall. Their uniforms and equipment are Cold War era, and the size and style are designed to allow these figures to fit in with a wide range of Plastic Army Men that already populate several generations of toy boxes.
