Yeah, I generally base "large" models on something from 1.5 - 1.75" in diameter.

Which is fine for a Large monster. The early D&D pre-paints were on 40mm bases.

The problem, uh, is that, um, succubi are Medium...

Or maybe I'll use M&Ms or dice. Depends. :B):

TPK due to snack-time?

I asked again about the succubi and incubi, as some had voiced thoughts that they were more display pieces, not table top game pieces.  They addressed my question... maybe 1.5" bases...  Yeah, that's not going to work well with D&D and a 1" grid.

If it works with the model, I'm fine with it... But I only use grids in BattleTech, so.... ^_^:devil:

M&Ms? Those wouldn't last long around my gamers!

Wouldn't last long in many areas, but I suspect it would provide some extra initiative... Which the DM could then make use of and turn into a trap (oh, you killed the skeleton, okay, here's a wraith, or much bigger bad guy, several bad guys on all sides, etc... have fun)

A bunch of them are!

Boulderkin = galeb duhr analogue

The Thing in the Well = looks like an Elder Brain to me :;,;:

Goroloth = aboleth analogue

Leucrotta = classic D&D critter most recently found in Volo's Guide to Monsters

1001 = the metal version is called Surkar, Orc Shaman

1020 = looks like a cloaker to me

1025 = D&D-style basilisk

Not sure about the others, but those are the ones I recognize.

For D&D:

Boulderkin = Could use as Galeb Duhr (Most recent appearance: 5e Monster Manual)

Dragon Wolf = Nothing of which I'm aware in D&D. Going in my "to sell" pile.

Gem Dragon = Gem Dragon (Most recent appearance: 3e Monster Manual II)

Three-Headed Troll = Nothing of which I'm aware in D&D. Going in my "to sell" pile.

The Thing in the Well = Could use as an Elder Brain, but could be too big (Most recent appearance: 5e Volo's Guide to Monsters)

Dire Cabbage = Nothing of which I'm aware in D&D. Going in my "to sell" pile.

Overgourd = Could use as Beholder, but also kind of goofy

Dragon-Lion = Could use as Dragonne (Most recent appearance: 3e Monster Manual)

1001 (Surkar, Orc Shaman) = Could use as Orc/Half-Orc NPC/PC

1016 (Bane Larva) = Nothing of which I'm aware. Going in my "to sell" pile.

1017 (Bog Homonculus) = Too big to be a Homunculus in D&D, but could use as Fiend or Gargoyle

1020 (Nightcloak) = Could use as Cloaker (Most recent appearance: 5e Monster Manual)

1025 = Could use as Basilisk (Most recent appearance: 5e Monster Manual)

1029 = Krampus. Nothing of which I'm aware in D&D. Going in my "to sell" pile.

Goroloth = Could use as Aboleth, but could be too big (Most recent appearance: 5e Monster Manual)

Yog-Sothoth = Lovecraft Outer God. Nothing of which I'm aware in D&D.

Leucrotta = Leucrotta (Most recent appearance: 5e Volo's Guide to Monsters)

Cerberus = Cerberus. Nothing of which I'm aware in D&D. Going in my "to sell" pile.

Thanks everyone! That’s super helpful info.

Of course, I’m slapping myself for not recognizing some of the more obvious ones like the Galeb Duhr and Krampus.

But I’m glad to see there are more figures that I can use in my game than I’d realized.

Ettin?

But it’s a deformed Ettin, what with the third head and all. With three sets of ears this one is exceptionally hard to surprise. But it argues with itself more frequently....more chances for PCs to sneak away.

I don’t understand this lack of love for the dragon-wolf. What happened to the fine tradition of inventing creatures to throw at your player characters?

Monster Manuals are just a guideline really...

It could also be a variant of the two headed troll. (I don't know off the top of my head the last rules appearance, but I know they were a thing in 2nd edition.)

Just use your imagination. Forex: the dragon wolf could be a variant hell hound. Yes, I know that they don't have wings. I also know that I'M the DM and can create/alter creatures to suit my game if it makes it more interesting.

So, think outside the box for all those 'useless' miniatures!

I think that people have forgotten that part.
