The only one that’s strikingly similar to it’s counter part is the pterodactyl.

gun poses are generally pretty boring anyway.

now, these guys all have the same “me smash” pose.

Anyway, I don’t see that their poses are any more or less “copy/paste” than other humanoids.

On topic of Catoblepas: Large in 1e, 2e, 4e, 5e, and Pathfinder. Seems like large is the right choice to me, as it is the current edition size and the most common size.

Even in 3e it is listed as being physically the size of a bull. It just takes up more tactical space due to the elongated neck.

i suppose it'd be more fair to say they're using the same model and adjusting it then. They're digital sculpts, so it'd be easy enough to go back to the base body and then work on the new pose and items from the same base model. The heads are the same. The poses, while not identical, are still very similar.

i'd just had liked a bit more variety than what they have. Differnet heads would've been nice. Maybe the mouths could have been different. But the heads ARE identical other than ornaments / armor. The triceratops head is always angled that same way. The anklyosaurus head is always angled the same way. The only one a bit different is the rex, and that is because they actually opened his mouth in a few of the poses.

They're just too samey for me. So easy pass on the expansion and on the fantasy dino add on. I like variety, and these guys don't have it underneath the different armor

What I don't understand is why more of us aren't talking about the PHANTOM OF THE PIZZA DUNGEON! Who is this scoundrel? Will Sophie get her dice back? Will Monique's LeeroyJenkinsesque tactical acumen pay off?

Will we get a chibi Phantom to go with the chibi players made in Bones IV?

Inquiring minds (mine, anyway) want to know!

Same here! I'm actually really enjoying the comic!

We're told it is a stained glass golem.

I imagine it would be good for ambushes but not very durable.

This. I've legit been attacked by stained glass golems in a previous campaign, and none of us expected the windows to come alive and try to murder us!

I'm happy for Reaper, though the amount of pledges surprises me a bit. I have not yet seen that many things that I really want (guess 1000s of Kickstarter minis from different companies will make you jaded ... though dragonmen and catfolk are definitely calling my name). Maybe a lot of new people who don't have a stash as big as mine and want a "basic" foundation for the mini collection?

Agreed. I think a related fact is how much the ReaperCon attendance exploded this year; more people appear to be discovering Reaper. There were a surprising number of people in the Livestream yesterday that identified themselves as brand new to Bones KS. ^_^

Has it been stated anywhere that the Core will be Bonesium or Bones Black? The inclusion of the kobolds makes me think Bonesium or a mix.

There's an FAQ about that on the KS page now:

"Q: What will be cast in Bones Black?

A: The Core Set, the Expansions Sets, and some of the options. Most of the largest pieces will be cast in classic Bones."

I''m trying to get out of this one without spending a mint. so, so far I'm seeing:

Core set - yep

Daimyo Expansion - probably. The samurai will be useful in historical skirmish, among other things

Dragonfolk - maybe. Got a bunch of dragonborn, more is never bad.

Townsfolk - Yep. NPCs and victims for the ghoul/ork invasion.

Fantasy Dinos - Tempting.

War machines - borderline, probably not

Dragons - got a bunch from previous bones, making more redundant, no matter how pretty they are

Fire giant - again, got a bunch

Mouselings - cute don't cut it for me.

Bridge and troll - useful terrain, but probably not

Dungeon dwellers - mostly redundant with things I already have.

...As much as I wanted to continue my tradition of trawling through the KS comments each day and posting relevant bits of info here, there's next to no involvement in the comments from the Reaper account. <_<

It appears that all the juicy/important tidbits of info are being dropped in the livestreams, and I simply don't have the time or energy to glue myself to my computer and transcribe conversational speech for hours on end.

I'm finding this change of official communication channels extremely frustrating, since any announcements made there (both fun ones like dire cabbage and important ones like a possible fulfillment center in Germany) only trickle into the KS comments or onto the forum through a handful of regular folks able and willing to do so.

I'm still a fan and still absolutely backing, but this KS feels particularly...uninformative, which builds my frustration instead of my excitement. -_-

She's a jorogumo. Spider lady. Reeeeally creepy. Also, sadly, the only mini in the expansion I really need. I think I'm going to pass on this one. Sad, this was an expansion I was deeply excited for

I meant the undead one with all the swords.  A samurai version of the arachno-assassian.

I agree.

There are some people who find the livestreams great and wonderful but I am not among them.  It would be great if Reaper would post summaries of the important news bits in the livestreams, either here in the forums or via KS updates.

So far I'm not in for too much because I've got a glut of basic PCs, NPCs, and common monsters. Dragonfolk and and War Machines for sure. Maybe the Daimyo expansion because it would be nice to have more Asian inspired pieces. The core just doesn't have enough to pull me in to it. I like the zombie giant, the stag, and the Krampus looking thing, and I like the kid heroes and spell effects. I'm hoping they'll have parts of the core set separately purchasable like the last KS.

In my heart of hearts I wish that all the dino-men were put into their own expansion 'Fantasy Dinos' leaving more room for more Oriental theme choices (standard race options for example). This way people who are really into it can pick up the expansion, those where it's not their cup of tee don't get minis they'll never use while picking up a set they like. Granted I know it's just as easy to gift dinos to people too.

And the dinos were something that pushes me over to actually buying that expansion. If they weren’t there, it would still be in the no-dale column for me.

I like the livestream to have some noise in the background while hobbying, cooking or doing similar stuff alone in silence. I will almost never watch live though because timezones. And 7 hours sounds a bit much.

Sometimes I will vaguely remember I heard a specific bit of information or saw a certain preview but have no idea in which episode that one was. I really like forums for looking up certain announcements, they‘re usually neatly organized by topic and time.

The announcement of maybe shipping from Germany is especially unfortunate since most people affected were in bed at the time.

The undead dude with 4 swords is... an undead dude with 4 swords.

That's kind of why I'm disappointed with this expansion. Asian myths are full of weird with a capital 'WEIRD' monsters that you won't find anywhere else. Miniatures of those would be unique and interesting. Instead we get an expansion of dudes in armor: dinosaurs in armor, orcs in armor, undead dudes in armor, and a sprinkling of interesting monsters scattered like a rare spice. Sure it's different armor but I've got a crate full of dudes in armor right there, all types of armor from reed armor to padded armor to samurai lamellar armor to plate armor to chainmail bikinis to turtle shells strapped on.

Ah, well, it's a lesson in managing expectations, I guess. I should always expect dudes in armor. I'd save a lot of disappointment that way.
